Sort of... I since have discovered that the "Blue Cheese" is not just Cheese from Bluebird, but actually Blueberry x Cheese that they get special, and there arent many plants (low-yield, too).

Cheese - The popular strain usually found at Homegrown Fantasy, apparently has the mother in the UK and there was some sort of problem where clones were of little quality. I don't know the exact situation, but if they don't have it at HF when you're here, ask for the Real McCoy, probably not as nice, but very good. Might not be on the menu, so ASK. Some of the best stuff in town never makes it to the menu. For example, Martian MG is still at Grey Area, but it's only available for a short time by request.

Weedly Week Report 2/10-8/10

Post by jBomb »

2/10 - Monday
Barneys
.25g Barney Rubble - 9,
“It should be illegal” - Budtender. Is that so? I’ll have a quarter gram, thank you. Yet to try at time of publication.
2g White Widow - 16,
The Widow at Barneys is BACK. Enjoying it in a bong when bilzur and bec come rolling in. Excellent. Wound up on TAKs house boat, which is incredible and you’ll have to see for yourself.

3/10 - Tue
Improptu Meetup at Grey Area with BilZur, Bec, Ron, Pete, jBomb, and Blueberry. Good to see them all.

Homegrown Fantasy
1g Real McCoy - 10,
Smells and tastes like onions, but is definitely a special item that should be picked up, along with Cheese if they have it (If they do, f’n call me).

4/10 - Wed
De Graal
Just of the Cuyp Market, De Graal is a great little joint with good prices and a bright three level set up. Chess and checkers downstairs, internet up. Cushy and comfortable. Perfect after fighting the crowds in the market.
.5 or so g of Goldrup - 5,
Light and powdery, it turned to dust in my grinder. Nice for the walk through Cuyp Market

Club Media (Temporary Spot - They’re moving)
.8 Hindu Kush - 6,
Definitely the number one reason to stop by Club Media, but their new shop is supposed to be awesome, though.

Katsu
2g Black Widow - 20,
Black Domina x White Widow - OK, I have been in Amsterdam over a month, and clearly, I have smoked a lot of weed. Not a ton, not yet, but a lot. Finally, I got seeds. EVERYTHING I bought so far managed to be sinsemilla, which is why I find it unacceptable that nederwiet from Katsu be my first baggy with “semilla,” as it were, but shouldn’t be. Especially after hearing about the strain and getting all psyched. I don’t buy Jamaican and Swazi for a good reason, and to get it at a reputable place like Katsu, man… that hurts. I’m still a fan, but hash will be my goal next time I stroll in.

Good smoke, but a bit pricey, even for the special. Different, interesting smell and taste. The Domina brings out the more actively creative a “pure” White would usually suppress, along with your whole body.

Good hang out with Blueberry, Bilzur and Bec, and Birdman, fresh into town the other day. We hit up C/S Hollywood, two or three doors south of Rastababy. Great Super Polm. BB got the last of it, and a neat blacklight interior. Locals, but friendly, which is I’m sad to say becoming a rare treat in Mokum. Mile High joined us for dinner, which was also excellent. Check out Dulac a few doors down from Barneys on Haarlemmerstraat.

5/10 - Thu
Well, I guess there had to come a day when I wouldn’t buy any weed or hash. Actually, I was getting worried, and am a bit relieved to see it finally arrived. I stopped by GreenHouse against my better judgment and checked out their “Sweet Widow”. The tender couldn’t tell me what plant was crossed with the Widow (shocker), and at 8,80 a gram, I couldn’t risk another disappointment. Looked better than the White Widow, though. Hanging in Bluebird now, enjoying the Black Widow I was just complaining about.

I may not have bought some stuff today, but I sure as hell got some. On the way out of Bluebird I found a small bag of Melana Cream hash on the steps. I was psyched, then I remembered how I feel when I lose a bag, then I thought about the guy who eventually found that bag, then I was psyched. I had a stupid day, too, it was a nice little reward.

6/10 - Fri
Grey Area
3.5g Grey Haze - 33,5
There was a bud that was exactly 3.5, how could I say no. ALMOST too pretty to smoke.
1g Outdoor Weed - 5,
Outdoor schwag? Yes, but from Grey Area, best damn schwag I’ve ever had

Amnesia
1g Red Diesel - 9,
Very nice 50/50 mix of indica and sativa. Oracle swears by it, but I’m not convinced yet.

Nes
Super Silver Haze - 10,
Cheers to Nes for a good deal on a great strain

7/10 - Sat
Tweede Kamer
1g Sensi Star - 7,5
“Nice. Not thrilling, but nice” - “Caesar”, Mel Brooks’ History of the World Part I. It’s good, but spend an extra euro and check out the selection directly below.
1g Reclining Buddha - 8,5
Really knocked me out for a couple of hours - got the Sensi, then noticed the RB which the budtender raved about. Interesting aroma I can’t quite put my finger on, but I don’t hate it.

8/10 - Sun
Crush - Yes, it does exist. A partially obstructed sign has kept this place a secret, but if you’re in Leidseplein your too close to not stop in Crush on Marnixstraat. Great cheap hashes, a small couch game.

Eerste Hulp (First Aid)
1g Royal Cream Deluxe
Remembered Viking picking up some and being very happy with it. What better endorsment do you need? Very mellow, don’t plan on trying to pay attention to anything for more than a few seconds.

WEED/HASH OTW - Reclining Buddha from Tweede Kamer (or Dampkring, if you prefer), for being one of the stoniest weeds I’ve had so far. It really incapacitates. For those of you who noticed, I’ve yet to try the Rubble, which is why it wasn’t in the running this week.

SHOP OTW - Crush for they’re cheap weed/hash, and nice big shop avoiding the bustle of Leidseplein, unlike Bulldog, Rookies, Dolphin, and Rokerij.

LEAST FAVE WEED/HASH OTW - Red Diesel - YES, it is very good weed, but I’m having a hard time seeing what separates it for everything else on the bottom end of the Amnesia menu. Maybe a day where I smoke it exclusively, as I hear that is the best kind of weed if you have to choose one for the day. We’ll see.

And finally, I had a blast hanging out with ALL the Channelites and ACDers who hung out this week - Bilzur and Bec, Birdman, d3kings, Oracle, Zig-Zags, laupnor, Mile High Denver, and of course Blueberry. Is it April 20th, yet? We hit a ton of shops and had a ton of fun. Cheers, guys. Next week is now…

A request for assistance...

Post by jBomb »

Hey, I need a favor from the ACDers. I recently changed my email on CHANNELS, and I was supposed to get an email to reactivate my account, but it never came. Can an ACDer who is also a Channelite get a hold of BOHannon, bas or someone to help me out? I can't email them, cause I cant log in.

Thanks,
jBomb

Weedly Week Report 9/10-15/10

Post by jBomb »

9/10 - Mon
Mellow Yellow
1g Mellow Berry (Blueberry)
Ok, I don’t know what great Blueberry back in the day tasted like, and I know it’s been crap since I started this thing, BUT… d3kings stumbled across it at the Noon the other day and said it was the best he had in two years. D3kings, for those of you who don’t know, knows his shit. And I agree with him totally, if the Blueberry I’m smokin’ now isn’t good, than the good stuff would have to be INCREDIBLE. It’s all I hoped for though, and it does smell a bit like blueberries. I’m sorry a certain Ms. BB missed it. I’ll smoke a g for her too, though I suppose that’s not much consolation.

10/10 - Tues
Grey Area
3.5g Mantanuska Thunderfuck
I was privileged with an 1/8 of what I’ve been told is only 100 grams or so in all of Mokum, at least for now. Trust me, if word spreads about this strain, it will be VERY popular. It looks like outdoor, doesn’t smell especially nice, and not many crystals, but looks are all too conceiving. Give it one hit and three minutes, the Thunderfuck will take care of the rest. Hope it’s here when you are. I’ve quickly found great advantage in being here long term, as I get a chance to try one-off strains that may never been seen again. Lucky me.

1g “Recon”
John also threw me a taste of what they’re thinking about submitting to the Cannabis Cup. We know the cup is fixed, but I’ll try it and give my opinion. (Postnote: I get to to it eventually)

11/10 - Wed
Finally tried Barney Rubble last night. What to say about Rubble after all the buildup? It hits hard. It hits fast. A teeny-eeny bit from the 1/4g I bought sent me flying without getting up for a good couple of hours. Don’t get thrown, you don’t have to buy a whole gram, and you’d be a fool to walk into Barneys and not get a little. CAUTION: Toke responsibly, I only had a little, but I can see where too much may be a problem. Of course, knowing some of you as I do, that’ll probably just encourage you.

No weed or hash bought today, though I did hang with the Cannabis College crew, who aren’t nearly as bias as I heard. Nice bunch of people who know their shit and love to spread the word. I MIGHT actually volunteer for them, if time permits. In addition, apparently I;ve spent so much time borrowing a particular bong at Bluebird, that they now keep it under the counter exclusively for me. I don’t know if I should be embarrassed or emboldened by this, but either way, it’s pretty cool.

12/10 - Thu
Amnesia
1g Kahuna (Soma) - 11,
Smells like Pledge, or wood polish. Citrus for sure. It seems that Kahuna is Soma’s signature sativa at the moment, along with Lavender, an indica champion. Kali Mist X Skunk #1?, if I'm not mistaken.

Bluebird
1.8g Afghaan K2 - 12,5
Kind of a spur of the moment thing, needed an indica and didn’t have any on me at the time. Great smoke though. I know a lot of people are against pre-weighed bags, and I understand why. Bluebird, however, is not like the others. Their stuff is always spot-on in weight an excellent. Cool menus too, though I wish they would add something new to it now and again.

13/10 - Fri
Grey Area
3.5g Grey Haze
For the weekend.

14/10 - Sat
I was planning on giving you a ‘shroom report today, for fun, but it fell through. Soon, though.

Barneys
1 Pre-roll Sweet Tooth - 5,
It was nice.

Rokerij
1g Jack Herer - 8,5
I wanted Super Silver, but they were out, so I hit up the Jack Bio. Very nice strain, cools you off or warms you up, whatever you need. It’s like a Weed Thermos.

15/10 - Sun
Homegrown Fantasy
.6g Skunk #1 - 5,

Hunter’s
1g Caramello Hash - 10,

FAVORITE WEED/HASH OTW - Was there any doubt that it wouldn’t be Mantanuska Thunderfuck? The rarity of the strain and it’s deceptive nature, looking like harmless outdoor mids and packing a punch equal to most high-end sativa strains. Very nice smoke from Grey Area, and the sadness begin when my baggie ends, for there currently to no more.

COFFEESHOP OTW - I just now realized I didn’t buy from or stay in one new shop for more than a minute. I need to rectify that, or get rid of this category all together. Anyways, I did stop into Homegrown Fantasy, and it is a cool shop with a decent amount of seats and a crazy blacklight bathroom that illuminates your urine. Also the menu is always changing and always quality, and the people there are budtenders that know their stuff, not just weed-sellers, both of which there are many in town, but definitely more of the latter.

Also, an extra this week. I posted this on the “Worst Coffeeshop” ACD thread last night, but I think it bares repeating -

Funny People is not one of the VERY worst coffeeshops by any stretch, but they have sadly made my list of "never returns" tonight. I went in, bought a cup of tea, and sat down to siphon Wifi off of someone in the area. After ten minutes, the tender approached me in the relatively empty shop (which made this all the more irritating) and told me I can't just play on my computer all day, I need to buy weed. I said it was good to know, especially since at that moment I was complimenting the shop for the next Weedly Report. He showed the true colors of that place just in time. I got up and immediately left without an argument. It's his shop, and I won't dispute, BUT...

I know some disagree, but I feel that ANY purchase of a drink or more makes you a patron, thus you can stay. I also know that coffeeshops CANNOT insist you buy weed to stay, but the rule is rarely enforced at the few places that choose to break it. Any shop that has a problem with you bringing your own gear isn't worth your time. If their weed wasn't usually shit maybe I would have bothered looking at the menu. You want me to buy weed? GET BETTER WEED.

The equivalent in the rest of the world would be going into a bar and buying a soft drink instead of a cocktail or beer, then getting tossed for it. Ever go to a restaurant and order just coffee or dessert? Did they run you out? I know some people that don't smoke weed or tobacco, but they come out to the shops with those of us who do. Are they now supposed to sit outside and wait for us? That's what they are asked at Smokey's, Paradise, and all the others, and why they deserve the bad rep they get. You can put Funny People right in their ranks now. Shame, I will miss the Wi-Fi.

There's a bajillion shops in that area, and time in this town too precious to be spending it at Funny People - my least favorite shop of the week.

LEAST FAVORITE W/H OTW - Strange pick this week… Recon from Grey Area. Hey, it was FANTASTIC. But, considering they are thinking about entering it in the Cannabis Cup, I think they have better and can do better against the Greenhouse and Barneys. Great stuff, definitely for the menu, but I think Grey Haze, Sour Cream, and the departed Cannalope Haze have a better shot by far for a Cup. Recon is one of DNA Genetics newer strains, though, so that may have something to do with it.

Anyway, it's been a good week. See some people are coming in town at the end of the month. That's cool, I'm tentative for the Nolympics. Got to check them out if you're in town.

HELP - Or the lack thereof

Post by jBomb »

Hey guys. I know most people like the reports, and the feedbacks been great. However, I've been getting some really nasty posts and PMs about the report, pretty much saying I'm full of shit and don't know what I'm talking about, among other more abusive things.

That's cool. But for the life of me I can't think of one post I ever made saying I knew THING ONE about weed. I'm learning as I go and loving every minute of it. This is a public forum and very few here can be called experts, and even those who are acknowledge they don't know it all. It's about learning, not declaring. We're all fallable, more so than we think.

BE HELPFUL, guys. If I get a fact wrong, tell me the right fact, not that I'm a retard. How does that help you, me, or anyone?

Also, if you don't like the report, don't fuckin read it. Not only do you have time to waste making stupid posts, you have enough time to waste reading shit you don't like. Get a job, get a girl, get a car and leave your house, do something productive. The same people that complain about a TV show but never change the channel.

The large majority of you guys rock, and you know this isn't meant for you. There are people that build, and people that tear down. I'm tired of getting emails and PMs telling me I'm wrong but not telling me what's right. Well, if they are so smart...

Thanks for indulging me, yet again,

Het Bom

PS - YES, I was wrong about Kahuna, a Soma Seed. An honest mistake from an honest guy.

It is a four way hybrid - Super Skunk x Big Skunk Korean x Jack Herer x
Afghani hawaiian.
- BIG THANKS TO ORACLE FROM CHANNELS FOR THE CORRECTION.

An honest mistake from an honest guy.
See how it works?

Dude, although I do not attempt to speak for anyone here, but I would wager that the vast majority of people here love your reports. With all the info you have provided I would imagine that an honest mistake is made here and there, thats what makes us human. I bet those nasty messages you have been getting are out of pure jealousy and evny. Keep blazing and reporting man.
