jBomb's Weedly Week Report
I'm pretty new to these boards, so I just read through all 4 pages of your reports and man do they kick ass. You've given me a bunch of great tips and ideas for my next trip later this month...I can't wait to try out some of the new stuff you've been suggesting. Keep up the good work!
Is there any way to find out when these specials will take place at Overkant Hortus? I'd like to check it out if one is going on while I'm in town.

Weedly Week Report 30/10-5/11
30/10 - Mon
None Had.
31/10 - Tue
Nes
1g Copper Sativa - 9,5
More “outdoor brown” than copper. Got high, but… damn I hate to say this, and the quality of weed is down everywhere, so I don’t want to point fingers, but Nes, outside of the Super Silver and HP Haze, just hasn’t delivered the way they used to. It’s still a must visit, esp. for pool players, and to see DC, but be discerning.
1/11 - Wed
Private Hookup - Set for a while, got some very nice homegrown Citral, Heavy Duty Fruity, SomaNY, and a few other randoms. Nice stash, well cured and NO shaking!
2/11 - Thu
Grey Area
1g Connie Chung - 12,
LA Confidential X G-13
Nice strain, looks a lot like Sour Cream, but the buds are a bit tighter. Very nice weed, GA has been changing their menu like crazy, Special K, Recon, Grey Haze, Sour Cream, C13 are all still around. Heard a rumor that DNA has a small stash of pure LA, hope I can get my hands on some.
3/11 - 4/11
None bought. BORING!
5/11 - Sun
Grey Area
3.5 Grey Haze
Saw a bud that was exactly 1/8, and it was calling me. Smoking while I write this. Also, the word is Martian Mean Green for the Cup. Maybe a thread about whose submitting what. Greenhouse is going to be AUH #1 (big f’n deal) and Amnesia, the RUMOR is, is going with Honey B.
WEED/HASH OTW - Connie Chung from Grey Area - I get so excited when I see a new strain, especially at GA, where hybrids are what’s up. DNA got another one right, Way to go.
SHOP OTW - Well, no new shops this week, but as I’ve written, Bluebird is my local, as I find myself there at least 3 times a week, though it’s never been a proper SOTW. I like it for a lot of reasons, personally and objectively. Reasons why I think you’d like it:
1.Staff - they rock, budtenders, baristas, clean-up dudes, all very nice and great to have a chat with.
2.Atomsphere - big couch that holds up to eight, two levels, outdoor tables, art covering the walls, and pinball.
3. The Menu - One of the best menus, two books filled with samples of weed and hash, both of which are quality here, esp. considering they are pre-weighed bags. Try the Afghaan K2 or the Poison Hash, similar to Honey Maroc. Space products and head stuff available, too.
In addition, they have a nice selection of bongs to borrow, a Volcano, big hooka, lots of snacks, and FREE WIFI! Currently I only know of them, Willie Wortel’s and Birdy in Haarlem, and the Noon that offer it, though some shops, like Amnesia, are close enough to siphon off someone locally.
Bluebird is open til 1AM every night, and the music is always changing. If not buying weed, trouble yourself with a drink and a few minutes in this great coffeeshop. They dont mind if you dont buy weed or hash.
Good week. Also had a great meetup Sunday with oracle and budulike4 and friends at Amnesia. Nice guys, we’ll be hanging more this week, I’m sure.

A-Bomb...H-Bomb... it was inevitable.
So it sounds like GA is keeping up with the high quality even though the rest of town is having a bit harder time eh? Although it seems like you tend to stick to the higher end stuff at Gray Area for the most part. Hmm...hopefully everything seems down building up to the Cup week, and afterward things will be back to normal.
Weedly Week Report 6/11-12/11
6/11 - Mon
Dampkring
1g Mendocino Madness - 8,5
Very good smoke that definitely won kudos from budulike and oracle. Very powerful stoner from THSeeds. The Dampkring would be a fantastic shop, but I can’t get over the constant loop of Amsterdam clips from “Oceans Twelve” being played in the corner of my eye. I don’t need Clooney and Pitt to get high, and it doesn't help.
7/11 - Tue
1ste Hulp
1g Royal Cream Deluxe - 7,
This is a smooth smoke Viking of Channels introduced me to way back during his last trip, finally picked up a bit and hung with Migh High Denver, who also enjoyed it. Though it’s a little away from Leidseplein, it s a perfect shop for a BIG ACD/Channels/HempCity/VDF/HipForum/ICMag and so on… meet over the Cannabis Cup or something, lots of couches and room.
8/11 - Wed
Got to finally meet Axeman9 and his lads at Bluebird that afternoon. Great to finally meet you mate. And funny enough running into at Grey Area a couple of days later. Can’t wait to hear the trip report.
9/11 - Thursday
Grey Area
1g Grey Haze - 10,
If you don’t know why by now, I can’t help you.
1g AK-47 - 8,5
Incredible, dusty small buds that pack a punch. An AK unlike most.
10/11- Fri
You guys may already know, but I feel it’s worth mentioning again. There is a NEW coffeeshop in Amsterdam - It’s called RESIN. It’s where the Pool Dog used to be. I got so hyped when I saw a sign I didn't recognize. On Nieuwzijds Voorburgwal close to Centraal. Near Soup Kitchen and across from the Crowne Plaza.
Their weed menu is similar to Barneys, in that it has a few items for 7, and 8, and few for 11, 12, and 13,. Quite a gap. Didn’t see anything extraordinary, but oracle tells me the Gravity is quite nice. The real draw for this place is for you serious Ice-o-lator fans. Tha have a list of about 8 or so, and specifically describe how they made it, including was micron level the Ice-o bag they used was. To keep in mind, their top end 73 micron stuff 50 Euro a gram. Is it worth it? You tell me.
The décor, while unfinished, is dark, almost all black with hints of orange. Probably pretty cool at night, that’s when I’ll have a proper try. Check out the design on the front of the shop. Anything pop out at you?
11/11 - Sat
None bought - which sucks… but I went to Basjoe for the first time. Nice little shop with a great view of a small canal as it’s main attraction. Laid back guys running the joint, but they serve you at you seat, which is nice. I think only Barneys has gone through that kind of trouble for me. Didn’t catch the menu, but definitely worth a stop for a drink and some nice Dutch scenery.
12/11 - Sun
Amnesia
1g Hippie - 9,
Just htting me now, makes your brain NUMB. Sort of different, very stoney. Describesd on the menu as “Crunchy” Well, if this is indeed crunchy, I’m crunched. Thanks, Soma.
Grey Area
2g Grey Mist, 15
Maybe because of its name I expected this strain to supply a stone equal to the high of their Grey Haze, but for some reason I just wasn’t feelin’ it. Bummer, let me finish the bag and go back to it.
WEED/HASH OTW - Mendocino Madness by THSeeds from Dampkring, definitely worth the money, powerful stone. Don’t be thrown off by the small, big leafed buds… it’s all inside.
SHOP OTW - Basjoe. Like I’ve written, a nice view outside a coffeeshop is a rare treat, this one doesn’t dissapoint. Good views at Rusland and Bagheera nearby, Barneys Lounge, Amnesia, Anyday, Old Church in RLD, and the Sensi Shop on the corner of OZA and Damstraat.
A couple of other issues to cover:
It was recently relayed to me that HP13, a popular new strain in town, is… and always has been Jack Herer. I’ve asked a few other reliables, but no one can confirm or deny. Thus… I throw it to you. Anyone know what’s up? I don’t know, but I can imagine a scenario where once popular names are been changed by the shops to their hybrid names, as that seems to be what people are looking for more and more. Genetics is what seems to matter to the connosiuers these days. It’s a fact that shops often change and switch names to make it seem as though they turn over more than they do.
Also, as we know, the Cup is racing towards us, though I’m sure a bit slower for those of you staring at you clocks and cursing the cab driver whose five minutes late getting you to the airport. Anyway, please remember that the names of weed and hash are just and only that, names, and are very easy to manipulate. Think of Dr. Dre’s influence on” the Chronic.” Its my understanding that it started as a legit West Coast strain, then Dre hears about it, makes an album dedicated to it, and Chronic is no longer a strain of weed but a word for weed, along with ganja, herb, trees, gear, and dozens more (Another good thread idea - Words for Weed and Hash). So, for your sake, if you see something like Chronic, various “Skunks”, and the like, keep this in mind, take a look, but don’t always believe the hype. Ask for the genetics.
You can see already how the shops are changing and filing with the cup next week. Some have been here since the summer, the guy next to me got here and hour ago. Of course, we all have various levels of concern over the plantation busts and weed shortage in Mokum. I think all the fears have been allievated, but to reititerate - There is a shortage of weed when compared to the “good old days” of 80s Mokum. There are many theories, all found on these forums. Whatever the reason behind the busts, the shortages, and the poor harvesting, drying and curing of product, I swear that anyone who goes to ANY three shops here and you’ll go home happy. It is not the best, but dammit, it’s still Amsterdam. Believers- believe.
Also, as far as the busts, nederwiet and nederhash shortages, and shaking of buds because of it is one issue. I believe the poor post-grow treatment is sadly a long-term problem of the industry taking advantage of the consumer. That shit’s been going on forever. Unfortunately, for 90% of the shops, if they don’t have to waste time and money properly drying and curing, won’t because they know that they’ll still buy it 99% time, especially for those who don’t know what they’re looking for, which makes up the majority of the tourist business.
Last minute note: A little secret, don’t tell anyone, OK? Bluebird is probably entering a strain currently dubbed “Bubblegum NL” Dom DeLuise in History of the World Part I “Nice… not THRILLING, but nice.” Actually, it’s really good, brand new on the menu. Good luck to them.
One week… Tick, tock… tick.

Barney Rubble at Barneys sells for 38 a gram, but they'll happily sell you 1/2 or 1/4. In fact, a lot of shops will you let you buy less than a gram of top-end Ice-O, so you don't have to bother with those that don't. Make sure to ask about the amount you can buy at Resin, even a new shop should know that buying a whole gram of their top stuff is unreasonable. Trying to make it back there this week, before the cup, to try their weed and maybe a little hash.philly-Rich wrote:Great reports man.50 euro a gram, huh, that better be some good stuff.I will be there in ten days and might have to a least try it.Anyone else smoked this stuff yet.Would like to know if its hype or really good.

Another great report. Cheers mate.
About the Ice-O...I've never bought it before due to the cost, but I'm probably gonna try some when I'm back in a couple weeks. I'm planning on going with the Barney Rubble right now. Question though: how long do you think a 1/2 gram would last? I'm probably just going to use it to top joints/bowls, not smoke on its own. Would I get a few topped joints out of 1/2 gram?
Like I said I've never smoked Ice-O before. Is it just the kief from the buds? I've smoked kief back home that you collect in the bottom of your grinder, but I'm thinking Ice-O is somehow different?

Kief is collected through screens, Ice-O is made is Bubbleators and other similar devices to chill the crystals and irritate them off the plant that collect in the mesh bags. Kif is crystals that fall or are shaken, but ice-o is meant to rip the THC from the plant basically.
1/2 a gram of Rubble or other high end unpressed (or just really good) Ice-O should serve you well for a couple of joints, I would think. I top my bongs with it, sprinkle it on like cheese.
