I'm in my 4th month of a year long stint here, for starters. Don't know after that.

Barneys is holding up with a nice selection after the Cup, Amnesia too. All the top stuff is cool, and the incredible White Widow I had in Sept is back, too. I prefer the lounge over the Breakfast Bar, always have. It's a very cool NYC high-end lounge type atomsphere. Very chill place.

Not back at Resin, esp. since I was able to grab some "unreal" in exchange for helping to make it. It is possible the best IOL a shop ever had, but the one thing that's "Unreal" is the price tag. 50 Euro a gram. That's a lot, even for the best Ice-O in the world, if it is that.

Don't know about Stix, but for import hash Rifman seems to be the king of the hill at the moment, and for good reason. Check out Tweede Kamer or Dampkring for their varities. Also, if you're lucky enough to see a little Meximelt at the Grey Area, get it. It's been out and I've been told it's a blast. Both of Amnesia's selections - Natural Sin and Star Trek, are both as nice as Barney Rubble, and quite cheaper.

jBomb

Damn I'm stoned. Rubble is good, smoking the sample I got from the Cup now. Noticed how much it affects me after I read this message. I think you get the jist, though.

Bi-Weedly Week Report 4/12-17/12

Post by jBomb »

4/12 - Mon
None had.

5/12 - Tue
(Happy freakin’ Sinterklaas Day)

OV Hortus (S-Day Special)
2.2 Wastkeburt - 10,
I only visit this shop on their discount days. OK draw - I use it for IOL joints.

6/12-8/12
None had.

9/12 - Sat
Homegrown Fantasy
1g Genie of the Lamp - 10,
NYCD X Canadian Big Bud. I think the thrill of this bud is the fact, if I’m right, that this is the first weed in any shop with Canadian genetics. It is a fine smoke, though a bit overgrown and under-dried, got real high though. HF menu, like in many shops recently, is back up to par.

Nes
2g Stella Blue - 15,
It smells like blueberries. It really, really does. It rivals Anydays Stella, though I must go in and check. In fact, all of the Nes’ stock was top when I stopped in and ran into Rev from the ACD Forum and his band of lads. Cheers guys.

Tue
Grey Area
1g Grey Haze 11,50
I didn’t get any, but wanted to point out the price hike, up from 10,. I mention this as this is GA second hike in about two months, and I was disappointed that they are increasing so quickly. Overhead and competition are definite issues that shops need to raise prices for, but I fear GA may fall into the bigger shops trap of just raising prices because people will pay for them.

Wed
Barneys
1g Nightshade - 10,
This came in 3rd in the Indica Cup at the Cannabis Cup and deservedly so. It’s a stoner’s dream. Couch-lock, I believe is the term. Perfect in a glass bowl in bed before passing out.

Thu
Grey Area
3.5 GreyBerry - 28,
Blueberry X Bubblegum
What an incredible cross. This strain is proof that the taste of the smoke can enhance your experience. It really did taste like a piece of Blueberry Bubblegum. Nice tight, thick buds. Enjoying a joint of it at Bluebird now.

Fri
Greenhouse Effect
5g NYCD X Haze - 50,
After the hike of Grey Haze at GA, I was thrilled to see a 5g=50, deal on an incredible strain at GH Effect, which has gone without much mention in my report, but that shit stops now. Dude gave me a HUGE bud and called it a Christmas Tree. Well, Merry fuckin’ Christmas to me, but it’s a great weed. Toke conservatively, the high is great, but the comedown is a little harsh.

WEED/HASH OTW - NYCD X Haze from GH Effect - Kudos to a great strain and a reminder that GH Effect has great big bag deals. Usually, this strain is 13, per gram, but buy in bulk at save a ton! You can get a drink too, for the time being.

SHOP OTW - Though I didn’t mention it, I did spend quite a bit of time at Hill Street Blues this week, and its come to be favorite for late night partying and what-not. Out of all the shops open til 3 on the weekends, this one is tops… HUGE place, good weed, large array of non-alcoholic and alcoholic (for now) drinks, great view of the Damrak, couches, and a pool table. Unfortunately, because of their size and location, they’ll probably drop selling weed in March, but it’ll probably become a smoker’s bar, which is OK.

I’ve had a crazy couple of weeks, to say the least. End of term work and friends in town made for a sporadic, strange Report, I know. Well, more bad news. In one week, I go back to the state until the beginning of February, so the Weedly Week will have to be put on hiatus until then. I know many forum members will be in town over the New Year, and I’m sure they’ll will keep all of us well informed

It seems as though the more desperate times of the weed drought are behind us, though things aren’t perfect, the green is certainly increasing in quality. I hear through Mile High that Cheese will; be around in January, we should be so lucky. We’ll see if the grass gets any greener

Had a couple of great meets with forum members - courtjester, jr., Rev, and of course Bluelaru. I think oracle managed to climb out from under the 3rd bridge for a smoke as well. Good times had, see you guys in April for more.

Special Christmas Report next week - What the hell makes it so special, I’ll never know.

Thanks for another great report! Glad to hear all the good feedback from Greenhouse Effect because I will be staying there for 10 days. It's a shame we'll be missing your reports for a while - I will happily "fill-in" for you over my stay (Jan 5th-15th)

 And this is the best news I've heard in a while...

Thanks mate.
I miss that place so much.

Great post jbomb is nice to read your posts. I miss the times stationed in Pearl Harbor the best weed I have ever smoked late 70"s. We are comming to A-Dam for our Buddymoon Mar 24-28 and out of this Morman controlled utah where beer is 3.2% and no smoking bars.

Excellent report as always, jBomb, and good that you're holding Grey Area's feet to the fire on the Grey Haze. You're right, that's alarming. It was Sunday, two days before your purchase at 11,50, that we bought 3.5G for 33,50, and it was still 10 euros for a single gram. Something about a 15-percent hike in a two-day span leaves me a bit cold. Especially when I liked the strain so much.

Perhaps your reports are prompting such a rush on the stuff that we are pricing ourselves out of the prime goods.

But we know you'll find something else for us just before 4-20, and when you do, keep your little baggies in your pack next time. It's on me.

Weedly Week Report 18/12-25/12

Post by jBomb »

20/12 - Wed
Rastababy
“3g” Silver Haze - 12,5
This would be a good deal if the folks at Rastababy weren’t filthy liars. I weighed the bag and found 2.5 GRAMS, not three. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. I wondered why it took so long to go to Rastababy, now I know why. This goes on my NEVR AGAIN list with Funny People, Grasshopper, and Bulldog. FUCK RASTABABY! I realize that many shops, especially the one’s with pre-weigh bags (moreso with the shops by the train station), know that they won’t get weighed by most people. Well, I’m not most people, and feel that a report like this should let you know when you’re being ripped off and don’t know it.

FUCK EM!

22/12 - Fri
Grey Area
3.5g Greyberry - 28,
This has become a new favorite of mine, especially because of the low price and excellent taste of this bud, almost like chewing a piece of Blueberry Bubblegum. I would like to say the batch I got was dank, rather than wet, but it is arguable. Still, ask to see it the next time you’re in.

1g Grey Diesel - 10,
Something a little different. Nice, dense buds with more of a grapefruit than diesel taste, which is nice.

23/12 - Sat
Willie Wortels Sativa
1g White Widow - 8,
OK smoke, enjoyed it in a blunt wrapped with a buddy of mine from the West Coast.

For fun in Haarlem, try going to all three Willie’s shops and compare the service to the touristy Sativa, the out of the way Indica, and the large, mostly local Sinsemilla. I noted the Indica shop as the most inviting, Sativa as very inviting, but the least stock of the three, and Sinsemilla as the least inviting with the widest selection, giving anyone with an American accent a dirty look and a condescending attitude. If only they could take our money without having to deal with us. Dude got upset when we asked for a vape, and said the one in clear view wasn’t working. I pushed my luck as asked for one of the four bongs - also ALL broken, he says. I gave him a big smile and said it wasn’t a problem, that only made him madder, which made me happier… and so on. Whether true or false, having SOLELY broken paraphernalia is unacceptable. Sinsemilla, as well as other shops, needs to be careful to not confuse pride with belligerence.

24/12 - Sunday
Amnesia
1g Morning Glory - 9,
Nothing fancy, but a nice stoney recommendation from one of the very friendly and knowledgeable budtenders.

Had a GREAT Xmas Eve meet with Tak, Holly, Itsmymagicallife, and jinks420 and lady. Lest we not forget that font of hallucinogenic information and crazy bastard of an Oracle, who supplied us with an amalgam of hashes and kifs he had been working on all year long. Arguably the nicest homemade hash I’ve ever had. The “Penguins” thank you, oracle.

WEED/HASH OTW - GreyBerry from Grey Area - but the question is, for how long? Grey Area exemplifies the idea that every crop, every plant, and every bud is different, as their stock, both in types of weed and quality, can fluctuate rapidly. When its good, its fantastic. The Yellow Cab has also been looking great after a while on the bottom end of GA’s menu.

SHOP OTW - What a terrible list of choices for this week. BUT, I did stop by the COIN on Warmoestraat VERY early (7am) on Tues to catch a puff before I headed of to the airport and back to the states for January. Though I brought my own, it’s only because I had rolled joints for the airport and didn’t want to wind up tossing any green into the bin on the way to the terminal, which I hate doing. The Coin, along with Central, are the only early openers in the east part of town, and its menu blows Centrals out of the water, having the biggest menu of the early openers as well (the othersearly risers being Pink Floyd and Barney’s Breakfast Bar). If you get into town early and can’t be bothered with dragging your stuff down Harlemmerstraat, try the COIN out. Be warned though, Warmoestraat is not the most pristine place at 7am, especially after a busy weekend.

COIN UPDATE - Oracle was kind enough to let me know that the famed MK Ultra strain is back on the menu at the Coin and Hunters, and should be for a while. I know that many of you long of this strain, and I’m happy I can bring this good news to those of you planning on being in town this winter.

There are no more Weedly Reports until early February, I’m afraid. I’ve been in Chicago a few days now, and haven’t felt the “Mokum Itch” yet, though I do hope it comes back by the time I’m ready to leave. It’s for the best, as I couldn’t get any work done there, I now have time write papers and junk like that. Never fear though, jBomb is taking care of business. So much so that he has started to refer to himself in the third person, which is stupid, so I’ll stop. I send a little package of Ice-O to a friend that made it through A-O-K, so I got mine while I’m away, though I miss the grand selection one can find few other places than the Dam. Never the less, the hash and a few grams of good-ole American mids should get me through. Be impressed, however, for I’ve been clean since Tuesday afternoon, which is longer than in a very long time. And yes, the irony of the clarity of this report compared to others has not gone unnoticed. Strange, innit?

I’m online like crazy, and my heart lies in those shops I learned to love so quickly. Be back soon, and with a vengeance. Thanks for all the kind words and support since I started these, it is what’s kept it going for so long.

Here’s to the idea of a whole new world to compliment this wholc New Year, both of which I think we could use.

Nice update, good to hear the MK Ultra is doing the rounds again.

I'll be in town mid-Feb with my girlfriend and it'd be great to meet up, especially as we're moving to Mokum March 1st for 6 months :D

I'll PM you nearer the time if you're up for it?

Too bad about the Rastababy experience. Part, but hardly all, of the error was that they had the old menu out (we also noticed it earlier this month), the one that lists all 3G sales for E12.50. In fact, the prescribed quantity was reduced to 2.8G/E12.50 quite some time ago (the correct menus, using that weight, were on display last summer). I don't know what's up with the outdated menu being out this month.

In either instance, they need truth-in-advertising and how-to-weigh-a-bag lessons.

I'll keep a watch on them next time, but I've had too many good experiences there not to return.

I know you have CJ, it was the reason I finally broke down and stopped by when I found myself riding past it. Underweight is one thing, but keeping an outdated menu out is just as deceptive, if you ask me. It is a very nice, big shop with a good view, but it doesn't make up for bad business, in my opinion
