Grinders

Post by Sue Narmy »

I've been using a Greenleaf plastic grinder for a few years but I find they don't grind the wetter weed very well so i'm looking to get a new cheap but good grinder (I'm not a hardcore smoker so I don't want to spend £50.00)
I've been reading throught the old threads and a few people say that the metal grinders aren't that good as sometimes they leave metal filings in the weed and that leads to health problems.

What grinder do you use and why?

What would you recommend for me to use?.

I have a three chamber aluminum grinder that I bought in Amsterdam a few years ago. It was cheap like 20 euro and it hasn't failed me. I've had about every kind of grinder and I wouldn't change from my aluminum one.

Peace,

I have a cheap plastic one I've been using for years, I recently started going old school and using a small pair of scissors.

That's what I use.

The small, folding, stainless snips were a modest x-mas present from a dealer many moons ago.

Not much of a roller in town, more of a bowler, so I've no need for something to shred joint-size quantities.

But...if I used a grinder, I would want one like bleak's. Industrial-weight aluminum, with spikes. It's bad-ass.

i also do not use a grinder and prefer to prepare the weed by hand ... my fingers tell me how sticky the weed is, how wet and how hard ... in other words my fingers tell me the quality of what i am about to smoke

sticky is good as sticky mean lots of thc resin ... if you use a grinder, the thc sticks to the grinder and it doesn't get into your joint

too wet is as bad as too dry ... using my fingers i know immediately whether the weed is needs drying out overnight or if too dry, a bit of time in a jar with a small slice of apple to give it the right moisture level

too hard usually means the weed is contaminated or sprayed ... if the weed has a lovely consistency and is easy to crumble into small bits (but not dust), then it is usually quality

i smoke pure and preparing by hand gives me a better consistency of bits for rolling pure

after 40 years of smoking i did try a grinder on a couple of trips to amsterdam, but missed doing the grinding with my own fingers, so went back to the old way which works for me

so go with whatever works for you ...

You know the 5 part grinders which have a sifter which collects the keif/kief/keef (sorry I don't know the correct spelling) anyway.... that's the THC yes?.

Wouldn't that make the weed your grinding for a spliff less potent?.

I like your avatar Snow White!

Still using this freebie that was given to me at the Cannabis Cup in 2002;

Seems to do the trick but if your bud properly dried, these are absolutely not necessary (IMO).

and that stuff usually then sticks to your hand. so i suppose grinders are more "economical". hmmmm then i again i don't smmoke nearly enough to warrant something like that
