Getting to Vondelpark

Arriving in Amsterdam on monday, the weather forecast is 31 degrees according to the BBC!

What is the best way to get Vondelpark from Dam Square area? I'm guessing by tram but which trams go this way?

trams 1, 2 and 5 go to leidseplein, get off there and walk to vondelpark entrance not far away (see a map for the route), maybe 5-10 minute walk

Instead of getting off at leidesplein you could get tram 1 and get off towards the top end of Overtoom, or get tram2 and get off somewhere on willemsparkweg then yr in the middle/top end of the park.

I would just walk it, 30 minutes at most. Trams 1 from behind the Royal Palace near the Magna Plaza and get off at Stadhouderskade and walk the few minutes to the park.

What is the best way to get Vondelpark from Dam Square area?

By "best", I assume you mean the most fun. That would be by bicycle, and it'd also be fast. It ain't a bad walk either. Frankly I wouldn't bother with the tram, unless you're in a rush.

best way to get to vondelpark?.....out of central station, walk down dam rak, stop off at 420 grab a bud, have a spliff, the back on dam rak, get to dam square stop off at nes cafe for a beer and a smoke, then keep walking south, stop in a coffeehsop grab another bud have a smoke, then walk further south stop in a brown bar have a beer, then repeat as many times as necessary untill you are at vondel park.

in all seriousness, it can be walked, it can be cycled and it can be trammed. all depends on your mood/schedule/shoes.

rent a bike. you wont regret it.

it will get you around more efficiently and you can always lock it up when you want to walk or visit a museum.
