another shot of the dragons of Deventer ...as I pack up and get ready to move on to Groningen via Bourtange ...I'm still amazed at the crowd and festivities in Deventer ...the Brink was packed (bigger than the Grote Markt in Haarlem),many thousands of people . Never heard a harsh word , never saw anyone acting aggressively ...amazing.

The Red Diesel WAS the best smoke we tried in Leeuwarden .
with the S5 from the Zoo being the best in Zutphen .

well i agree ... and a great place to start would be to re-read all of epsilon's travelogues, he has travelled widely in the netherlands and has great recommendations ... the super silver haze he suggested from the coffeeshop speak easy on snellesstraat in den bosch remains one of my best smokes of all my trips ... and his travelogues are a great read too with loads of pics

Groningen is a mixed bag these days coffeeshop wise -
On the one hand you have de Medley , which is a strict buy n go shop , and the Vliegende Hollander ,which puts people in little cage like rooms to smoke, to Dees Cafe with its large roomy areas ,but quirky menu (you pick your own bag from a pouched notebook arrangement) ...then theres the Clown



3 kinds of weed , two of them the same ...fortunately the Clown for nine was pretty good . And after our first quick circuit ,the Clown was our favorite.

We'll learn more today ...
Would reccommend a visit to the Prinsentuin , a formal mazelike garden ...



Today is market day in Groningen . We'll see what that's all about
Back to Amsterdam tomorrow ...to resume Kitty Keeping duties.

Had the she devil from that menu was pretty good .

Metamorphoses -located near the University - One of those shops
where the owners paid hundreds or thousands of Euros to have glass walled smoking rooms put up , so the dealer could sit at the bar and smoke cigarettes . But it , Upper 10 , and the Clown were our CSes of choice in Groningen . We didn't sample anything that really made us think "Whoa!!"in Groningen . There are 10-11 CSes in the centrum , but the Quality hasn't been there in this town . (Compared to AMS )

We decided Leeuwarden had the best weed of our road trip stops, as well as the best CS scene ....(again) ...Back to kitty-sitting today, car due at SIXT Centraal Station by 12:30 ...

Back in Amsterdam since Wednesday ...Mrs. Peel got us right to the SIXT office at Centraal Station , facing the wrong way ...thanks Emma ....but the office kid just whipped that BMW across the tram line and did a u turn all at seemingly 90 miles an hour ... Loved having a GPS on this trip ,made winding our way into the old centrums we visited SO much less of a hassle ...

We'll be around until next Thursday ...Few notes - Voyagers has made progress on their refurb , looking much better ...their Kandy Kush leading the Kush Kup at this point ...Met Marco at Batavia ,a bar right around the corner from Voyagers ...first time in there , but should go on a list of Smoker friendly bars .

Briefly met Rufus at Nes As we were leaving ...she got our table as we were leaving & Dave being the good host introduced us ...maybe we can play coffeeshop tag these next few days ...If you see us playing our daily scrabble game at Basjoes say hi ...

Seems like Amnesia Haze is the strain of the summer ...everywhere we've been Gouda to Groningen ,it's been the strain on top of the menus ...and often the best strain in town .



CS Downtown has it ...

So does Relax (both in Leeuwarden)



Utoop has it too ...but we got the "Special Queen " there , hit like a strong Indica





Ned - I hope that helps answer your questions- other Leeuwarden shops we visited this time - de OS (which has a similar menu to the one posted on Fly by Nights site) and is a top CS...American, de Zone ,Miami all have, by Amsterdam standards, limited menus ...but are nice shops with friendly staff .They don't see many USA people there , and seem genuinely interested in establishing a dialogue .

Yeah YR is a very photogenic cat ...When Susy saw this shot , she chided me for not highlighting the eyes more. My reply was - This IS after all a cat . I'm trying to capture her essential kittyness which gets missed often due to her eyes ...

Epsilon, really diggin ur reports bro, especially appreciate the pics.
Some quick questions though.
I'm going for 30 days in September and plan to hit Haarleem and possibly a few other places in the NL but am a little worried about the language barrier, is this really a worry outside AMS or do people in NL speak english throughout as a 2nd language?
Are the other parts of NL accomoadating of foreighn visitors?
