August 3rd - 6th

The gf and I will be in Amsterdam for the first time; staying near Abraxas. She's smoked plenty before, I never have. Going to hit up some edibles the night we get there. We have a good agenda laid out as far as attractions go, but I imagine we won't stick to it. We're also going to be searching for mushrooms. I've read many threads regarding this; not legal, ask very discretely, etc. I have never tripped before, but the gf has. I've read about truffles, but I'm wanting a more visual trip; more than just enhanced colors and sound. From what I've read and what friends have told me for years, 3-4 grams should be enough.

Any suggestions/recommendations always welcome.

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the August Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.

This is fantastic, thank you very much! Really enjoying the sense of community here. Most of my time on here will likely be on weekends as I'm working two jobs, but I'll spend some time before i go to bed (like now :P ).

I just recently found out that Amsterdam's pride (progay) festivities were during the time we're there. I've read there is a large number of people that visit for this, 300k+. Does anyone have experience of being there during this time? If so how did it differ from any other time you were there? The sheer number of people is my main concern.

Also, does anyone have recommendations as to the first shop to hit up? What about a strain for a first time smoker? I don't want something that incapacitates me, but provides a really good high and will allow me to explore my first night there. We arrive at Schipol at 6:30 PM.

I have a slight concern re it being Pride Weekend, places must surely be busier? I'm guessing it'll be like london pride etc... rammed during the day and petering off at night

However the fact remains, you can guarantee some bloody good parties when we're there!!

Lol, it should make our first trip to dam very interesting. Our flight leaves Amsterdam at 12:15PM on the 6th and Voyager's is about 30min away from Schipol. We'll also have to return our rented bikes before leaving. I would really like to attend this even if just for a few. Does Voyager's have breakfast items?

There's a large possibility I won't make it. My passport hasn't arrived yet. I've called and written emails for the past 2 weeks (submitted before that) and all I am told is that it's being processed. I paid for expedited processing too. I'm going to be livid if it doesn't come through.

Hey Epistemic,

Don't worry about passport. I recently renewed mine and was really worried. It took 2 1/2 weeks in the end so i got it last week. Best option is to keep hassling them on the phone. The only problem is its the busiest time of the year.

Re Gay Pride, i was in Amsterdam last year at the same time (for Dance Valley Festival) and i have to say it was not much busier than usual. A pal and I walked right into the middle of it all one evening and i have to say the atmosphere was incredible. I got some great pics too. On the Saturday it will be busier as it appears to be the main day?? This though, was even better as everyone was on boats, dressed up (read half dressed) even though it was pissing it down. A really good experience and I'm not gay.

Have a great trip and maybe meet you at the Voyagers T&T

Oh, passport troubles. My friend lost her passport and applied for a new one like 2-3 weeks before our journey to Italy and it hadn't arrived until the last day before the journey! She was going insane, cause she thought she'd miss the trip because of that silly thing, and when we got to the holiday rental, couldn't shut up about it

My friend went to the Gay Pride last year and he had a great time (not gay either). It's a good party, I've been told, and everyone feels quite integrated, regardless of sexuality. And not to be compared with the London Pride, cause things happen quite differently in England, as opposed to the rest of Europe :D

Any idea of what the costs would be to slightly alter dates if possible?

Thank you all for the good vibes! I think it paid off. I got a call today, because they received my letter, telling me that they shipped it off today!

I was really freaking out too, lol. I would have had to pay the airlines for rescheduling as well as the site I purchased tickets from. Anyway, that is all behind now and I will get to enjoy many things in a few days. I look forward to meeting you all.
