This trip was the trip that never should have been, lost my job 10 days before going, wife doing my nut in about it and kinda felt guilty that I still wanted to go but it was already paid for, well accommodation and travel anyway!!
Left Thursday night on the night boat from Harwich it was £225.00 return for me and wife including all trains and breakfast in morning the hotel was Park Plaza near Vondelpark that was about £200.00 including breakfast.
We came running out of Centraal about 09.30 Friday morning, I say running as we could not get to Voyagers quick enough as really needed a smoke by now lol.
Hit Voyagers and was greeted by very friendly budteneder who was chatty, helpful and knowledgeable and knew Gapie, went for OG18 at 10e per 0.7g following comments from others and they were not wrong. Lovely dense buds which I first put in the Volcano, nice taste and all round good smoke and made a good first arrival purchase. When I did put in my pipe I noticed the ash burnt nice and white, also worth mentioning they have a nice outdoor table here.
After leaving here we headed to get bikes from Fredirics on Broughersgract the weather was lovely but looking at all the broken umbrellas on the floor and news headlines it was clear that Thursday was bad weather day in all Holland but as I say it was real nice.
Picked up bikes no problems, as usual, went and dropped bags at hotel which we stuck on back of bikes with straps that are all ready attached to bike (handy).
The hotel was not bad but breakfast could have been better for cost I think, anyway dropped bags went straight to Bluebird I really love this place, I come on all of my visits and usually have the Blue Cheese and this time was no exception at 12.50e per 1.1g, it is average price I suppose but it is lovely and taste just like the Big Buddha Blue Cheese that I have grown a few times, we sat here for a while times are all ready hazy and the Dam experience was really feeling like home and normal again with almost a feeling of like, Wow I am actually back!!, after some time here and again I can not be exactly sure as to time we had the munchies so went to Burger Bar, my Wife did not believe me how good they were she said they tasted nice as I always stoned when go there but she agreed they are excellent, I had the Black Angus and she had The Philly steak although her role was a bit wet and floppy but the taste is mental, a burger that actually fills you as well.
After sitting here, I must also mention that I had to break a fight up between some Liverpool guys and an American guy who were arguing over seats!!, anyway after referring the fight we headed on bikes for a cycle around Vondelpark as weather so nice we had a smoke in the park soaked up the atmosphere and I must say Vondelpark is my favourite park of all I have ever visited, I love the vibe and the care free attitude that you get there.
Now after a bit here we felt the need to go and well lets just say we went back to our room to “freshen up”.
Before we left hotel we got a call from home saying our kids Guinea Pig had died so that kind of left me feeling bad as the kids were crying and we felt helpless this did stay in my mind til I got back to kids.
After a short rest we headed back out, now I don't like Prix Dami weed as a rule but love the pool tables so headed there as we both like to play pool whilst stoned in Dam.
Even though I seem to moan about their weed I still got some, fucking stoner's hey?!!
I went for the Super Silver Haze at 10e per 1.0g and you guessed it I did not think much of it, it said “uplifting” I did not agree, but enjoying the pool so no great issues especially when I still had a bit of the Blue Cheese from Bluebird left.
Around 6.45pm we left and headed to our t and t for 7.00pm at HGF, when we arrived we sat out front as still very nice and I went for the Cheese at £14.00 per 1.0g it was excellent really earthy, musky taste, burnt nice and good stoned feeling off it quite heavy, Gapie liked it when he arrived also.
The t and t was great my first outdoor t and t!!, Winnie, Ohm, Tutt and Gapie all there chatted for a couple of hours it was excellent, my wife was nervous as never met forum members but she soon relaxed after meeting nice like minded folk like ourselves!!, we spoke about going on the boat Saturday night with Ohm but the weather turned bad on Saturday afternoon so never happened unfortunately, there is always next time and if I am honest I think I had over done it a bit but I will tell you more about that in a bit.
I also went and got some White Widow in HGF at 9e per 1.0g but to be honest I cant say a lot of good about it other then it was dry, looked nice and smelt nice but did not even touch me after the Cheese.
For some reason we seemed to keep discussing food at the t and t and this provided my wife and I with the motivation to get up and go to Wok to Walk, which did not disappoint, then went to Dam square to listen to some of the music there, sat and had Profetjes, which are lovely, also recall having several bouts of the giggles, around 10.00pm I think we headed over to Popeyes another of my fave's, but to my disappointment he was out of the Crystals!!, so went for the Iceolator 12e for 0.5g, bingo this was the one strong as hell, nice grinny feeling and perfect for the time night, chilled here for a while then decided to go back to hotel via Vondelpark, I was shocked it stays open all night?, anyway felt a bit weird going through a park at that time of night but no issues with weirdo's or anything we even stopped on a bench for a crafty one before going into hotel.
Woke quite early on Saturday but I normally do so no shock there, went to breakfast in hotel then straight on bikes back via Vondelpark and smoked some of the White Widow from HGF and I was right first smoke of day and it still was not strong enough for me but it got me back in the grove so to speak.
We headed into centre but it started to rain very slightly in comparison with what was still to come so we hit Hunters I usually go for the 100% Sativa but they were out so went for the Amnesia Haze
at 13.50e per 1.0g, he done his usual upsell routine, I did not argue cause I know he always does this and he was not what I call chatty but the weed was very good, very upwardly tyyprfeeling with a good taste too.
Once the shower had passed my Wife decided it was time for us to split and she could go shopping for a bit and I headed to Betty Boop, I went for the Cheese at 12e per 1.0g.
Not a lot to say about it really, not a patch on HGF Cheese and only tasted Cheesey on the final exhale if you know what I mean. Sitting here on my own gave me time to soak up well lets be honest listen to other conversations!! snoutty git I know but we all do it, I must say the budtender was fine to me but I did hear him talking to another guy who in my mind just seemed in good spirits, happy and high to be in coffeeshop and the budtender just went upto him and said are you on ecstasy?, this really through the guy and he seemed to lose his energy after this, I felt it was a bit unfair just to be chatty and not rude at all and be challenged but if I am honest if something does not effect me I will leave it but if it was me he went at like that I would have told him to fuck right off there and then no questions.
At 2.00pm I met Wife in Dam square we headed to New York Pizza for a slice of pizza and a drink also had an ice cream from somewhere I recall.
We then went to Waterlooplein market but the lady there who sells weed had none she said that was because all the weed in Dam at the moment was full of pesticides? But we did get one of her cakes at 7.50e.
Now the good map reader was back with me!!! I tasked her to get us to Bagherra which she did immediately as the skies still looked rather menacing.
I asked for the Cheesy Butter from following others advice but they were out (you may notice there is a theme here with me wanting stuff that is out of stock!!) so went for the Kush Dee at 14e per 1.0g, it was very nice real Kushy taste, nice burn and put my head in the cloud's, now on the subject of cloud's they now started to do their thing and it rained from now til Sunday morning, so we decided to go dump bikes at hotel as we were soaked and needed to clean up.
We got the tram back to the centre and went for another game of pool at Prix Dami and ate the cake half each, did not buy here here as the ssh was not all that yesterday and to be honest I don't think I will ever but there again.
After about an hour and a half it was clear the cake was working although my wife said I kept saying I could not feel it although my speech was slurred and my legs felt like they were holding an elephant up and I could not walk straight lol.
As I said it was constant rain and really did effect our day we did not get on Ohm's boat and felt like we were just keeping out of rain a contrast to Friday and Friday night which were excellent.
I really could not tell you times now the cake and all my smokes were taking their toll!! we went to Kadinsky but not before passing Burger Bar again!! I recall that I went for the Ice Hash at 13e per 1.0g, it was very strong but not as good as the Iceolator from Popeyes, we finished the night here at Kadinsky, we were trollied!! then got on tram back to hotel but got off too early and enedelost for about an hour then rescued by a taxi driver who got us back to hotel for 7.50e.
Sunday morning came all too quickly but we can not really leave our kids any longer then 3 nights so this was final day and the train leave Centraal at 10.56am so dropped bikes back to Fredirics then onto Sibirie but closed still so went to Rokery which I really like I love the low tables (one near centraal) I went for the Lemon Haze at 13e per 1.0g it was nice, good high but could not taste any hint of lemon unlike some I have tried but it was a good last purchase, I kept a bit to smoke before getting on the boat back to England.
To summarise this trip I would say if the weather had have been better then this could have been my best trip ever but the rain really pissed us off to be honest and in the back of my mind I kept thinking about the fact I needed a job!!! and the Guinea pig thing did not help, but still a great time filled with giggling fits and good memories and some good time spent with my lovely wife and all ready thinking that eternal question we all ask “when next”?
