Just wondering if it is possible to grow 1-2 plants in a condo on the downlow or does it really reek ?
Like one of those self contained tents ?
I have a friend thinking about this, i think he is crazy.
Could you grow stealthlike in a condo ?
Re: Could you grow stealthlike in a condo ?
Simple answer, yes.
There are several threads in this forum that discuss using grow boxes, controlling odor, etc...
Among the threads you (or your friend, wink wink) will find are a couple that talk about growing plants on a windowsill (as an alternative). If your "friend" can control paranoia, he/she could always grow an automatic from the windowsill. Approximately ten weeks from seed to harvest, typically less than 2ft tall, small and stealthy.
I own a grow box and it works well enough although it doesn't fully contain the odor. The room in which the box sat did smell a little bit although with the door closed, the rest of the apartment was odor free. I should state that the odor was most noticeable after the fourth week of flowering, most likely due to the formation of bud (bud growth).

Re: Could you grow stealthlike in a condo ?
I grew 6 plants in my bedroom closet in my last Condo, like Ron said its totally doable. I used a small grow setup in a tent. My concern wasn't really the smell. My concern was always the electric bill spiking too high for a one-bedroom condo. Just make sure you pay your bills on time and don't advertise it, that is usually how people get caught.

Again with the electricity. It's not as expensive as some (seems more like most) think it is. The approximate cost of electricity for my last crop (3wks 24hr/11wks 12hr; 400w) was slightly less than $200 (Euro conversion). So as not to have the entire 3wks of 24hr light usage on one bill, one can split the veg period - 2wks in one month and 1wk in the next. Check this site - http://www.handymath.com/calculators.html The one thing the calculation doesn't account for are taxes (should only be a couple of dollars anyway).
Another concern some may have is with heat, as in being caught because of heat detection devices. One solution is to use an exhaust system with a carbon filter and funnel the heated air into the apartment/house instead of out the window. The dry carbon odor from the filtered air can be manipulated by affixing to the end of the dryer tubing either dryer sheets or artificially scented tissue/paper towels or some other ingenious device(s).
