Anybody tried this in Amsterdam Hotels?

Post by hulldj »

Well, I was sat here writing up my 420 Tuesday TR and somehow I've ended up here  Such a short attention span.

http://www.frontdesktip.com/faq/

Could be worth a try

Started the journey here.... well, the last webpage open in my history was

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewt ... 18&t=18382

but not sure how I ended up in Vegas.....

Anyways, back on topic, has anyone tried to "tip" the desk on check in for a better room? Could it be worth it for the folks booking via priceline to blagg an even better room?

If your off to Vegas in the future It;s definately worth a read through the comments on results.. Some nice free upgrades been handed out.

Doubtful. I went there without any reservations and walked in and out of plenty of hostels with the answer was no rooms were available. I was with the wife so we need a private bath so I'm sure that's part of it. Europe makes efficient use of all space. Nothing like Vegas where its all just useless desert land with dozens of thousand room hotels.

I lay groundwork early, even if im using priceline.
Get the managers email and contact him-her.
Let them know when your coming, and what your after and how excited you are to be staying at there hotel.
Let them know if this is a repeat stay etc.
About a week before reconfirm with them.
Been upgraded large this way.
Got a large room last time with two private balconies after only payinh $70 U.S. per night for a 4star NH downtown.

I think this has the potential to work, but only in the nicer hotels...3* and above...Hostels and cheaper accomodations are usually booked up, but the more expensive hotels...not so much...Once you've got a reservation, it's easy to then try and get an upgrade to a nicer room...

If you're celebrating a special occasion (birthday, anniversary, honeymoon, etc) let them know and sometimes you'll get extra perks as well...
