Paris and tourist stuff...

The bridge is in the southeast region of France, part of a highway expansion so you can drive from Paris to Monte Carlo I believe it is the Milo (sp) Vally. I do not know if you go to museums but the Netherlands has a museum pass that covers entrance to most museums in the country, it's about 40 euros and can be purchased at any museum the Amsterdam historical is a good place to start. If you want to do the Ann Frank house may I suggest going at about 6:30pm the line will be short at that time and you would be less rushed than if you go during the day. I have tourist type questions so I hope I am posting this in the right spot...

As ya'll know I'm going to be in the Dam next month for my birthday... I would like to go to France for a day while I am there and as I understand I can ride a high speed train for 4 hours to Paris is this correct?

Is Amsterdam indeed only 4 hours from Paris and is this the best way to travel there? We will only be able to spend the day there and then take the train back later on in the evening to Amsterdam.

I'm a typical female and I've been dreaming of Paris all my life. I am an amateur photographer as well as a big fan of music and art. I would mostly just be taking pics of the local landmarks for the day. Any advice etc for this trip and I don't speak French btw.

I also understand that Belgium and Germany are short train rides as well as the beach/ocean? An hour away from Amsterdam?

I am a huge music fan - especially the blues. Are there Blues clubs in Amsterdam? Any recommendations for good music venues but most especially BLUES Clubs!

Hi! you best bet would be taking the early train youll get to paris around 11-12 and best bet would say a night! cause youll want to see stuff in the city no? also getting a tourist pass for 30euro is good youll save on museums and give you 24hours of transport in all of paris ...
If you want the beach Zandvoort is the location its about 30minute from amsterdam and 5minute walk from trainstation to the beach the beach near DeHaag get way to pack of ppl ... also if you can on a nice day taking the train to DenHelder and taking ferry to Texel is nice litle spot and has 30 beaches 2 r nude one amsterdam to den helder is 12euro (20return) walking to ferry is about 5minute (ferry is 5euro whit return) and bus to Dekoog is 3euro = most wonderfull place in holland << if you into camping by the sea? dekoog got a duine campground ;D

Thanks so much for the ideas! You guys are great tour guides I will definitely go to a few museums, so we will probably get the pass and I definitely appreciate the best time to go to Ann Frank House because we will be going there. I think I also read about a transportation type pass that is good for the train, bus and tram? We definitely want one of those! Nude beaches eh? That would be interesting but do we have to be nude as well to be there? haha!

2rollingstoned. i am going to be at the toke and talk at voyagers noon the 4th for the coffeeshop crawl(if my 930am arrival is on time). i , too, have to go to paris (leaving the 8th) maybe we can combine our accrued knowledge to make it easier.i see you like blues. i used to hit the blues bars all the time maybe we can drag our crew there. i think some people were talking about bourbon street in amsterdam. i was there in dec and it was pretty cool. the band was good and one girl/woman went on stage to sing a few with the band and she was great. hope she shows again. otherwise, looking forward to meeting you and the acd crew.met gapie before. he is a great host

I am spending most of my time touring the Netherlands but that one day I am gonna take the trip to Paris. I won't get to see much but I am gonna take photos of the Eiffel Tower and have a nice lunch somewhere. All prior knowledge of helping us navigate around is very appreciated! 11 days til lift off! I am beyond excited!

I love Albert King and his flying V yes indeed. I just bought the cd/dvd with Stevie Ray Vaughan (In Session) several months ago that is quite good. BB, Freddie and Albert - the 3 Kings!

If you can save up a few dollars Richard Gere is selling his guitar collection at Christies of New York on October 11th this year - including a 1958 Flying 'V' owned and played by the late Albert King Estimate is about $90,000 USD.
Although AK played left handed he did a Hendrix and turned a right handed guitar upside down and restrung it to his own tuning - so if you buy it and play right handed you will be O.K.
The 'V' can be an uncomfortable shape to play sitting down as the slanting body just wants to slide off yer leg I play mine standing up in more of a Michael Schenker style.
Sorry about sidetracking your thread a bit.
p.s. If you buy it can I have a go ?

I See Bourbon street blues was mentioned but I have to add The waterering Hole Near Leidseplein <sp> has wonderful blues music and you can smoke in there. You can not smoke in the bourbon street. I too am a blues fan coming from a city that has produced alot of them .
