*1ST POST* Solo Trip

Post by Tony Bongcanna »

Hi Guys, I have been using these forums religiously over the last couple years and feel like I know some of you pretty well considering you have no idea who I am. I finally got round to registering because i am on my 1st ever solo trip and would love some advice and maybe some company out there...Might even get round to posting a trip report but seems pointless as some of you guys are utter beasts!

Right so im going from the 11th-14th August and this is going to be trip number 6.. and counting. I booked completely last minute and my flights and accommodation alone has ripped my nuts off. I first started amsterdamaging myself in 2008 and My last visit was back in January with a friend. I have witnessed and lived some of the best times of my life in this wonderful city and have visited in groups and with a girlfriend but never on my own.

I will admit im slightly worried about looking like a bit of a loner at sometimes and am wondering how I will fill my days but I suppose that's half the fun of it.
Anyway a big HELLO  from me,any feedback would be appreciated ...

and if anyone is out there at the same time and would like to meet up at some point I would love to hear from you

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the August Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... le&u=68562

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Welcome, Tony...

You know the city and will be fine going solo. Enjoy the freedom to do whatever you want, for as long as you want.

Maybe you can 'meet my little friend' while you're there...Gapie. Book some T&Ts and he just might show.

Enjoy your visit.

Hi Tony I'm sure you'll meet plenty of lonesome smokers on your travels, my first time alone was daunting but not now as I feel relaxed in the places I visit, and the number of single smokers male and female is quite common, it was only last Wednesday when in easytimes I noticed 3 individual smokers all female sat at different tables and males on their own dotted about the place...
Youll be grand as your a frequent traveller.
Enjoy it I know I would :D

Have a great time. See if there are any t&t's if you get lonely. Bring a book. I actually really like amsterdam solo, but then, I like to talk to strangers.

Please write a report! (Pay it forward.)

You lot are right I know the city quite well and I have gained a lot of confidence from you guys. I intend on taking a book and somehow just made a not so sober judgement and bought a Nintendo 3DS purely for the fact that i got a 'Legend of Zelda' game free. Talk about Old school..I just couldn't say no! Im a bit of a big kid and its an EPIC game that blasts me right back to my childhood almost as much as taking a hit on some skunk number 1.
I will definitely pop in to easy times..thanks for the heads up STEVEN, and i would go to a T&T if there was any planned but it doesn't look like there is GEEKYMONKEY. I would throw my own but being a newbie to the forum i doubt it would be very popular and im not really the organized type lol. I will try and give you a trip report but im not taking any devices that give me regular access to the internet so it wouldn't involve any pictures until i got home :( .

I will keep you updated though and at some point should be in some of the following:
1e Hulp, 420, Abraxas, Amnesia, Barneys, Bagheera, Bij, BoereJongens, BushDoctor, Club Media, Dampkring, De Graal, De Kroon, Greenhouse, Green Place, Grey Area, Homegrown Fantsasy, Hunters, Katsu, Mellow Yellow, Papillion, Paradox, Popeyes, Prix d'ami, Rusland, Rokerij, Sheeba, Stones Corner & Voyagers.

Have i missed anything worth while out?
And what gear would you recommend from some of these fine establishment?

I've done it on my own for several years and I really do like it. I have a busy work and social life, and love the chance to do my own thing at my own pace and be answerable to nobody but myself.

I love to 'people watch' and Amsterdam's the best place to do that. And I take a book, which is also good 'cos these days time to read seems a luxury :)

Have a good time :) I'll be arriving around about the time you're leaving I suspect.

Go on, be bold, book one...it's only an appointment in time. Yeah, no one may show up, or be around TO show up, but that's how it goes sometimes. I've seen people book meetings and not even show. It's bad form, but that's stoner Amsterdam.

FBN has a nice philosophy on t and t's. It explains why he wished me good attendance the last time I booked a meeting. That was cool of him.

T&T organized (basically)

Post by Tony Bongcanna »

Almost forgot Betty Boop I have walked past this place far too many times. I have suggested it to travel companions but they have always opted against it saying it looked too small and slightly rundown. I prefer never to judge a book by its cover however i always judge a bud by its trichomes so I will give it a whirl.
Finally got a T&T organized-ish so that should be fun,I need to find somewhere with the best computers and internet access so i can keep updated any one have any recommendations?
