11th-14th Aug - An attempt at a live report

Post by Serpent »

I'm just chilling out in the apartment & I thought why the he'll not have a go at a live report so here it is, I can't promise I'll see it through but no harm in trying :D

I'll also just paste below the post I made in the travel plans thread...

We've landed & we're now pleasantly stoned, met Paul when we checked into the apartment, top bloke & purchases so far are 420 Haze from Cafe 420 & Cheese from HGF + a couple of pre rolled, tried to get in Grey Area, as usual it was packed, will keep trying though.

Stay stone :D

Thanks guys & Grey Area is on the hit list today, even if it's just a buy & fly!

Checked out voyagers last night, think we've found a new fave coffee shop, really chilled atmopshere & got some sweet OG Kush No18, what a top smoke that is, then we stopped off at cafe 420 to pick up some blueberry & a hot chocolate with cream, sod the diet, then headed back to the apartment as we we very stoned & knackered.

I've took some photos, anyone know how you upload them to here from an iPhone?

Thanks for that suggestion. Was just starting to ponder that problem for my next trip, where for the live reporting I'm going to be using my iphone.

@Serpent- thanks for the reporting so far. Looking forward to hearing more and seeing pics.

We’re now back home and although I planned to make this a live report, we just seemed to get over taken by events, plus we were both in our own little hazy world for most of the time, not that we’re complaining mind :D

Thursday
Arrival day and we didn’t go wondering too far, still pretty knackered after getting little sleep the night before and being up stupidly early time to catch the flight. Once we’d checked into the apartment, our first stop was Cafe 420. The first thing we were sad to hear is that the resident stoner cat Max passed away, but they’ve got a new moggie in the form of Bobby hangin’ about the place now, so that was cool, we also purchased some really nice 420 Haze and a pre-rolled as we hadn’t been able to get some baccy, as typical the shop opposite was still shut.

We then had a wonder over to Homegrown Fantasy, picked up some cheese and a pre-rolled, the vibe in the place we felt has changed over the years, the music they played was too, I guess you call it RnB (it’s certainly not the RnB I know!), and the vibe just seemed to be lacking, the cheese we got was OK, but not as good as cheese we’ve had from there in the past. The mrs couldn’t be arsed skinning up, so she got a pre-rolled, but it’s wasn’t the best and burnt really uneven, a little disappointed as we do normally like this CS, but we didn’t visit it again this time.

It was now time to check out Voyagers, read many good reports on this place since it was taken over, and we were both not disappointed, loved it here, a totally chilled atmosphere, the music could be hit and miss for me at times, but it wasn’t overly loud, plus the friendliness of the staff more than made up for it, ohh and more importantly the quality of smoke was excellent, my first being some lovely and smooth OG Kush Number 18 and it ended up being a place we stopped by quite a lot over the few days.
When then had a quick stop at Cafe 420 for a coffee and to pick up some Blueberry, before we went back to the apartment for a smoke up, and the Blueberry, although not the strongest strain we smoked, it had very nice clear high with a bit of an indica punch to it.

Friday
First port of call for the day was Grey Area, as usual it was packed, but amazingly we managed to get a seat, and I can’t believe this is the 1st time I’ve bought from them, there was far too much on the menu that tempted me so it was a difficult decision, opted for the Kandy Kush in the end as I’ve got some seeds of this strain so thought what better place is there to sample it? Impressed I was too.

We then wondered over to Hill Street Blues on the Market, grabbed a couple of toasties, some super silver haze and sat on the terrace, toking away while watching the world go by, after god knows how long we were sat there, we then had a wonder back up to Voyager to pick up some Chocolope, which was a really lovely smoke and chilled there for a bit.
We then had a bit of a stroll, didn’t really have any plans, we just went where our legs took us, before long though it was time for another pit stop, we were in the vicinity of Soft Temple and as we’d never been in there, we thought we’d check it out. We will say it’s not on the list of places to revisit, the staff were friendly enough, but after ordering a couple of drinks, we noticed a sign basically saying you want to smoke, you have to buy here, the menu, although from what I remember looked good, it was expensive, so we just bought a quick pre-rolled, which was OK, but nowt to shout about, and moved on, don’t think we’ll be making a bee line for here again anytime soon.

After an unexpected lull, we headed back to the Cafe 420 as we both love it here, music is just our cup of coco, plus the staff are really helpful and friendly, bought some Moroc Caramello after it being recommended by the budtender, a nice bit of hash as well, no burning required, just crumbled it straight into some skins and smoked lovely.

It was then time to start heading back to the apartment, but with a couple of stops on route, the first was Popeye’s, got some Vanilla Kush, it was a nice smoke, but it maybe smelt a bit too much like Vanilla if you know what I mean, so I have slight reservations, still got us stoned though, then we did a quick fly and buy of some Bubblegum from Barentsz, we didn’t go into the actual coffeeshop as it was closed, but what we did notice is how cheap it was compared to some of the city centre locations.

Saturday
Well this was the day of rain, rain and some more rain, to start the day we went to Barentsz as it was only round the corner from our apartment, picked up some nice Amnesia Haze which was only 11e a gram, had a coffee and even though it was around midday on a Saturday, we had the place to ourselves, quite a nice coffee shop as well.

We then had a stroll to the city centre and as the mrs wanted some more Blueberry and to see if Bobby was about, we stopped off at Cafe 420, via DNA Genetics which I wanted to go in, but typical it was shut, then after a smoke at Cafe 420, we headed down to the Cannabis College for a blast on their vaporiser with some Blueberry, which was a bit of a waste to be honest as the bag was ripped, they did try and repair it, but it wasn’t ideal. We also had a tour of their grow room, which again was a bit of a letdown if I’m honest, for some reason I thought they would have someone talking you through the plants and answering any questions, but we were just sent down to the room and left to our own devices, still it was interesting to see the stage the plants they had were at.

Next stop was Hill Street Blues on the Market, no smoke bought this time, but we did share a chocolate space cake which had a gram of weed and after a couple of spliffs of god knows what, we then had a wonder down to The Green Place, by which time the cake was well and truly kicking in, so much so I made a complete idiot of myself with the bud tender when I bought a gram of OG Kush, I think he understood my state though as he served me with a knowing smile on his face. This was the first time we’d been here, a nice friendly coffee shop with a smoking room at the back, only complaint was the music wasn’t really our thing and was a bit too loud, the OG Kush on the other hand was a lovely smoke.

The rain had now eased finally, so we made a couple of pre-rolls and went and sat on a bench to watch the world go by, it was a great way to spend a bit of time, before heading back up to Voyagers again and our next purchases were a gram of Dr Grinspoon and a gram of So Gouda (Soma), by this time, I have to say all the different smokes on top of a space cake had moulded into one and I just remember being sat there with a huge smiles on our faces.

After spending a fair bit of time here, it was now time to head back to the apartment, with a quick fly and buy at Barney’s for a gram of Tangerine Dream, heard hit and miss reports on this, but sometimes you’ve just gotta see for yourself, I quite enjoyed it, a nice taste and decent stoned, and the mrs also said it was one of her fave smokes of the trip.

Today was also the day we should have also headed down to the TnT at Rookies, unfortunately what with the weather and being overtaken by events, we couldn’t make it, maybe next time!

Sunday
Last day today, spent most of it in the apartment sorting out the cases and smoking what we had left, once checked out, we just headed to Voyagers, smoked the last of our smoke, bought some Silver Bubble, a pure pre-rolled, shared a space cake, then ate the last of the moroc caramel before heading to the airport and all I can say it was a nice mellow journey :D

So there you have it, we both had a fantastic trip, 1st time staying at Paul’s Apartment which was near perfect for what we wanted, checked out a couple of new coffee shops which we hadn’t been to and Voyagers is now level pegging with Cafe 420 as our fave place to spend a few hours, couldn’t say one is better than the other as they both have different, but equally cool vibes.

This is the first time I've written a travelogue so I hope it reads OK and I’ve also got some photos which I’ll post once I’ve sorted them out.

well all this aimless strolling and sitting on benches by the canals watching the world go by sounds great ... it certainly indicates a nice relaxed pace to your trip
