Re: Journey to Amsterdam
Have you even been to Amsterdam ? Sorry but that read like an over cliched rough guide !!
train tickets are not €13
try €3.70 , €4.20 if you go to the booth (then again I'm scum and travel cattle class) and there ain't any coffeeshops on the Damrak !!

Re: Journey to Amsterdam
nah it's ok. it was a cut n paste thing i wrote awhile back. i was so excited about coming to amsterdam, it was like nostalgia, really. yeah i wrote it in a kinda kitch lonely planet style, but it was quite dated.
anyway it's better to bring up to date live reports so...
hang on i have to light this...
i took the eurostar from london early this morning with the idea it might be a welcome change to the usual 4am easyjet... and eurostar was a dream. it didnt even feel we left england it was so smooth.
then i got to belgium. the sky went gray and rainy. it was like a black n white ww2 movie. i took the cheap fare to amsterdam [39 euro]. it was the slowest train. it was even slower than the jubilee line! I left bruxelles at 12 got to a'dam about 4:20..totally missed the TnT because Rookies was so crowded i didnt have a clue who anyone was and the bud tender didnt know either. so i went looking for my hotel.
walking
in the rain
in circles...
then like a vision there it was! and ever since walking through these doors it has been like a surreal version of dopers' "Cheers"
i'm at a Hotel where they allow you to smoke in the room and downstairs in their bar. They are the NICEST people i have met! they let me settle in, gave me a bit of personal hash and a pipe to relax and later we went to Katsu. They allow you to smoke but don't sell. the nearest coffeeshop is a bit of a walk but Katsu was class.
I been smoking Cheese.
OMG. absolutely delicious! and it's a quality buzz. the wretched travel here was gone just like that! For the last 2 hours I've had chats with locals and other guests and regulars in Katsu. it's only day one! This is why i love amsterdam.
so gonna finish this joint and pass out in front of dutch tv which is fun to watch when youre baked. tomorrow i am going to meet up with an ex girlfriend who was very keen to get together. more adventure? a rekindled romance or a decent into bi-polar hell...? find out next time.
hopefully the next report will be more discussions on different strains and flavours, but for me amsterdam is the whole package. the C/S, the people, the language and the girls on bicycyles and the adventures.
thanks and keep tokin!

Re: Journey to Amsterdam
staying at hemp hotel which is like being in a stoners squat. the rooms are seriously one star but the people and quirkiness of the staff who are all super friendly makes it worth it. i got loaned a good glass pipe which i am still using and some free lighters. maria, the rasta chick took me to a cracking coffeeshop and i had the best conversations with people and everyone is speaking english, not only to me but to each other.
right now they are making me breakfast while i am typing this and smoking a morning bowl of Bubble Gum i bought an hour ago. how cool is this place!
truly it's worth the experience.
glad the report is back on track. it's interesting how exciting one gets just before a trip here and then when you get here, time slows down or speeds up.

Re: Journey to Amsterdam
Hello from amsterdam. The weather here now aug 15 is extremely excellent. perfect blue skies with drifting clouds. not too hot not too cold. Late afternoon havin a doobie in the room watching the world outside the window.
Today's adventure was an early-midday tram ride to sloterdijk. i was to interview some alternative artists living in abandoned industrial parks and small docks, which was like walking through some sci-fi movie..or downtown tijuana... how these kids can live in bombed out rusted husks of camper vans and buses and not ..like die is incredible. But the art was really interesting. Homeless and talented...
so i bolted back to museumplein and aquired some nice Amnesia to get rid of such a depressing experience. and let me say. Amnesia is fecking excellent. It was a bit pricey at 13 Euro per gram but, it is really delicious. it has a sticky consistancy, very full buds, and it's flavour stands out, like a cross between jack herra and diesel.
The thing with the ex didn't happen. after an hour i remembered why we broke up.
back to the report.
later tonight i am going to try some hash from Mellow Yellow.
trying to chalk up some quality time before i leave tomorrow night.
