Hi, long time no 'Dam

Post by boywonder »

Hi, planning a trip in March 2012 cos I'm getting married next year. Me and a mate are going to relive our youth. (only 38 mind, not decrepit). We went to Amsterdam a few times in our 20's and have fond memories of Amnesia, Rookies, Rokeriij, the view from the Old Church, pulling a whitey in the Dampkring, hash chocolates and a boat trip and lots of great times to numerous to mention or remember. Oh and breakfast at Barneys when it was just one place run by an irish couple. It will be about 8 years since the last visit and a lot has happened with regards to smoking/alcohol/weed and where and when you can do each which sounds a bit of a pain in the arse, especially as i like the occasional beer with a tobacco rolled spliff. Used the ACD before, the map was invaluable and I'm glad to see it is still going, good work fellas. Can't wait to go, want to visit a couple of old favourites and try some new places. Any suggestions of places I MUST try appreciated, I quite fancy a couple of hours hookah session at Lost in Amsterdam. Although we want to make the most of our days we are a laid back pair who like to soak up the atmosphere

Welcome! Enjoy your trip - March is a good time to go. It's not crowded, not too cold, and last March when I was there I only remember it raining once. Oh, and if you like hot chocolate, get one of these from Rookies:

I think that was probably the best hot chocolate I have ever had!

If you like to soak up atmosphere , check Club Media.
Its a nice walk to there , coffeeshop with good coffee , and good CHEAP weeds.

I would also recommend a visit to La Tertulia , and Greenplace .

All the locations can be found here: https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/Map.html

EDIT : You cant find club media on the map. Try google

d&c, that looks good, looking at staying at the Nieuwmarkt this time so I don't know if we will do Rookies although for old times sake we might have to, did enjoy staying around liedesplein

xxetc, the map is great. I printed and laminated one year and had the mick taken out of me for being so prepared. then we got stoned. nobody mocked the map after that.
