Hermaphrodite...

Post by CHELSEA_SMOKERS_SOCIETY »

i THINK i may have spotted a hermaphrodite growth on my most mature (and best looking) female :x

ill keep it under close inspection for the next few days. who knows it may even be a some bud developing. (not likely with my grows  )

so should the worst be true, and this is a hermie, is the whole plant doomed to become a ladyboy? or can i cut out the affected areas and continue to have a nice healthy female?

cheers

You can cut out the affected areas, just make sure to get all of them and keep a close eye for any new herm-growths.
As for continuing to have a nice, healthy female? That's a big negative.

If its a narnaring and if you have others in there that would be spoiled if they start to seed then get it out now.

How long has it been flowering for? if it's close to done it isn't worth worrying about, if it has a way to go and is with other plants personally I'd get rid, pics help.

well, its definatly hermied, theres no mistaking the balls that are appearing in and under the thistles. :x

all in all about 20-25% of the heads have a male flower or two in them. ive been carefully using sharp pointed pair of scirssors to remove them. think ive done a decent job. but obviously i will have to return again in the next day or two and onwards to keep a real close eye on them.

i suspect she is only 2 weeks away or so from being ready to cut down, so i cant bring myself to throw her away. ive had to move her into the garage, in an attempt to quarantine her. this will mean next to no sun light, but i guess its my only option for the sake of her sisters (who by the way, range from early pre flowering to early flowering).

Please check my photos above and that will let you know , are the nanas on the buds ? Some people mistake the false seed pod as hermie. (I know j did and threw out a perfectly growing female)

If it's things growing on the stem under the buds (at the internodes) then it's not hermie growth again a picture would help

Cheers and good luck

Keep her, try to remove whatever you can/dont mind loosing. It could be enviromental, maybe your lights are tripping out and going off/on, heat stress can start a hermy or it could just be genetic. Try and find the cause of the problem, or it will only continue. Maybe clean your area too

sometimes narnars are hard to see and sometimes they can spew their pollen before you spot em and this is why I would ditch the bitch and all her snips if ya did any, just turn her into BHO or summat.

edit doh just read you have moved her away from the other girls

The Calyx swells up to a teardrop shape inexperienced growers can mistake them for "the dreaded balls" as when people talk about males etc the talk about "balls" I know I mistook it and have seen numerous pics from people on grow sites thinking they have males when they are in fact the calyx  is that elaborate enough ?

And also some strains look as if they're seeded when in fact it's jus the calyx/false seed pod
