Impromptu Amsterdam Trip! Help Needed!

Hey guys!

So as a result for me getting into Uni my dad offered to pay for flights and a 2 night stay in a Holiday Inn near the city central. I found this here http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/groupon- ... dam/692832

So my question is, how do I first get to the hotel from Schipol (I really am hopeless at these things) what is the easiest and cheapest way?

Secondly once we are at the Holiday Inn, what is the best way to get right into the Centrum? Bus and/or Tram?

Is there the equivalent of the TFL tool so it tells you what to do step by step?

We would go into the Centrum in the morning and return late night/early morning.

Then how do I get back to the airport from the hotel.

This might seem like a big question but I cant find anywhere that will help me out.

Thanks in advance guys!

You would take the train to the Amsterdam RAI station and then walk or tram to the hotel. Visit http://journeyplanner.9292.nl for door to door directions. You could also look at the hotels website they should have directions posted.

Peace

Cheers. I am looking online now at the prices of travel as well. It says 40 mins travel time to and from the hotel into the center. I assume doing that 3 times each and then the train back to the airport will rack up abit?

Does anyone in their infinite knowledge think I could get a room fairly closer to the center for £150 for two nights for two adults... hm.....

Or Amsterdam cribs (not sure their minimum night policy though?) or Bulldog ? I'm sure they have twin rooms ? Plenty out there sorry can't be more help I stay at the Abba most of the time

I'm sure you could find something in the Centrum within your budget. Put your dates into one of the major booking sites like http://www.booking.com or http://www.easytobook.com It might not be as nice as the Holiday Inn but you're only going staying a few days. You could also just buy a 72 hour pass good for travel on the trams and metro for € 15.50. More info on the following site http://www.gvb.nl/english/travellers/ti ... ckets.aspx

Peace

Frisco inn was around that price, as was the Vijaya, which is cheap n' cheerful in a handy spot. looked at both for October, but i'm leaning toward the Di-Ann, their balcony rooms are decent and not much dearer.

If it has to be a Holiday Inn - as he will use his Priority Reward points to pay for the stay, there is a Crown Plaza walking distance to the Central Train Station, IIRC, was 25,000 points a night when we booked a stay in April. Nice hotel to start with.

I think Taylor was referring to the Groupon deal in the first post.
