Cheers for the support peeps, Ill keep at it!

Day 6

Leaving the side of the road in a random part of southern Germany, we headed further south until we reached Neuschwanstein Castle. After getting a little lost in this area and driving back and forth a few times thanks to our reliable sat-nav we finally found the castle. Hard to miss you would of thought. This glorious site is in a small village called Hohenschwangau in southwest Bavaria. We had all agreed that we were going to spend most of the day here getting rather attached to Adam’s camera and its huge memory. We pay the entrance fee at the bottom of the hill and jumped on a bus which took us up the wooded green incline to the drop off point where we then had to walk another 15 minutes to get to the main entrance. From the bridge you can really capture the beauty of this “castle”, but when you get up close you realize that it is just a large stately home with a fancy roof. Certainly something to come and see, especially if you are a photographer as you can get some great shots.
After we left the castle we agreed to go straight to Bad Ischl near Salzberg. We drove for a long time into the night and although we had all agreed prior not to drive at night before we left on the trip, we agreed to break this rule so we could get to the nice home. I wondered to myself how much we would actually agree on things like this in the future. Another thought going through my head was the fact that the World cup final was on in a few hours and whether I was going to make it back to watch it or not? My team Holland have done so well to get this far and they were up against the favourites of the tournament Spain. We continued pushing through around the long mountainous roads and as the miles counted down very slowly the match had started. I knew that there was no way that I was going to be able to watch it live as the boys wanted to get to the end location. So I bit my tongue and willed Holland to win with some mental thoughts of Dutch players scoring.
We didn’t get in to Bad Ischl until very late and once we walked into Adam’s parent’s place we chucked in three pizzas, downed them and then hit the sack. It was nice to be in a comfortable bed, but we all new that this was going to be a small amount of luxury before the main trek starts.

Well I think it was over 200, bearing in mind we went around the world and stopped on occasions :)

Day 7

Arising slightly later than normal thanks to a roof, we relaxed for most of this day catching up on some emails and preparing for the next part of the trip. I watched the World cup final and Holland losing to Spain in an agonizingly close match which Spain got the winner in extra time. As you can imagine I was in a slightly frustrated mood due to this.
We went to the supermarket and spent a fortune on enough food to last us weeks, yet we only bought it with the attention to eat it in the next few days. We spent the rest of the day chilling out watching a few programs and enjoying some of the finer things in life.

Day 8+9

There is not much too really report on these days as we really just hanged out like 3 boys who have recently been to Amsterdam would. We went and got a few tools that we did not bring with us, they were ridiculously overpriced thanks to Austrian shops been extortionate. I headed to the only tire shop in town and spoke to a guy called Peter, who was more than a little enthusiastic to talk to me. He sold me a tire to replace the spare that had been used now, whilst throwing in a valve key as a freebie. Thanks.
We went into town and to a special little cake shop that Adam knew quite well, we each bought two luxury cakes each. One of mine looked only what I could describe as a chocolate house, where the exterior of which was like brick work. We purchased some food items that we would take with us like a massive bag or rice and pasta along with a big tub of powdered soup. When we got back we tucked into the cakes and oh my days they were heavenly. Austrian cakes are the ultimate food for the munchies!

On another note my girlfriend has decided that I need to get stuck into this, so I shall be updating this a lot more frequently. Hopefully i can get this book wrote with a bit of pressure and motivation :)

Day 10

The last day that we had planned on staying in Austria, was spent planning and fixing our skid plates to the bottom of our bikes. For some reason the screws that they provided for us were too large to be screwed correctly into the plates. This resulted in us having to drill 4 larger holes into our metal plates with a drill. This took absolutely ages as the drill parts were probably made of the same material, and unfortunately this is all we had to use. Brian could not get the hang of doing this so I helped him out as my patience seemed to be a lot better today than his.
The weather is gorgeous at the moment where we are, I am starting to get a nice tan on my arms where I am riding with my sleeves up. Unfortunately the rest of my body is still English white as I have not risked riding topless yet and I’m sure I won’t whilst I value my skin.
We packed up in the evening so we were ready for a nice early start in the morning. I think we all felt quite egger to start traveling again and start to see new things. This was not our first trip to Austria and we were quite familiar with these surroundings. I am sure that we will end up missing the pleasant feeling of having a nice bed and a warm shower, but for the moment we are ignorant to this. I think it will affect the other guys first as I have done a long road trip before and gone long periods of time without these taking for granted things in life. We shall soon see.
