The key is the cannabutter(or oil.) Once you've got that, you can use it on everything from baked goods(just following a regular recipe) to pasta to just about anything that incorporates fats. The key to good butter is this: instead of trying to maintain the flame on your burner at a low temperature, just bring a pot of water to a boil then put the butter in. The melted butter will stay on top and then once the infusing's over, you can just put it in the fridge and the butter layer will harden for easy separation. This way, there's no risk of burning the butter or wasting time because the flame went out and a lot of the nasty chlorophyll and stuff gets dissolved in the water, not the butter. If you wanna get even fancier or wanna use the butter on something like popcorn where you really wanna minimize the weedy taste, you can extract your weed first(iso, butane, acetone, etc.) then use the extract(once it's completely dry, of course) for the butter.

That vieo was very entertaining. When Im in humbol county I have access to lots of pot and the discarded leaves. Does anyone use the leaves for cooking? Im thinking of bringing home some brownies among other things.

Cat, you can totally use trip, just grind it up pretty fine (a coffee grinder saves you a ton of time for this.)

I like the water method Yos mentioned, especially with leaves, because a lot of impurities end up in the water not the butter. If the butter is still really green and stanky, you can actually scrape it off, then melt it into more water, bring back to a simmer, and cool again. It will take out more of the impurities and make a less skunky butter, although some skunk is nice.

I've only used dry trim, not fresh, but I think fresh should be fine if that's what you're working with. If you're bringing them home and like chocolate, def make some of those cookies from the recipe I gave you on the other thread.

Hey thanks geeky. I talked to our friend out there and told him what I was going to do and he is like wanting to put some fresh bud in there. do you grind it the same way? I will attempt your cookies.

Are you going to be there for a few days? I actually think fresh bud could be really cool, I have good feelings about what the oil in the butter and the fresh resin will do in your liver.

If it were me, here's what I'd try. *confronted with a pile of fresh buds, in town for more than 3 days, mostly planning to take cookies/butter with you.

(Hey all you more experienced stoners out there feel free to chime in, because this is 50% knowledge and 30% theory and 20% imagination.)

Step 1- Chop up or break up the buds as much as you can and leave them to dry, overnight, on a screen with a bit of a fan. (Maybe your friend would do this for you a day or two before?)

Step 2a- Chop them up the rest of the way, (scissors then coffee grinder. If you can't get a good chop increase the simmering time)

2b-Chopped bud into the pool with water and butter. (Weight wise, don't fresh buds lose ~60percent of weight when drying?) If you are flush up to your ears, go for 2 oz (48g) wet bud/ scant 1/2 oz (12g) dried bud per pound of butter. One pound of butter will make a lot of cookies and other good eating.

3- simmer for at least 20 minutes if ground fine, up to an hour if you're super paranoid and don't want to waste a drop of cannabanoid. The water boils at a lower temperature than thc cooks off, so with the water in there it's impossible to scorch or waste your thc

4a- Pour the weed/water/butter mess through a very fine mesh strainer, or a mesh strainer lined with a double layer of cheese cloth into a container. Press the leafy mess to get the good juju out. If you are obsessive you can rinse the leafy bits with warm water to get every last drop of goodness

4b- cool it all down. If it fits in the freezer that's the fastest way, but stovetop then fridge will do if you're patient.

5- The butter will collect on the top. Scrape it off and discard the water. Eat a teaspoon mixed into your spaghetti and meatballs. Make cookies and brownies. Enjoy.

If the butter is really green and rank tasting, I would melt it down in another container of water, stir it on a simmer for 10 minutes, then cool again. That should scrub another round of plant matter, chlorophyll and other skunky junk.

Keep in mind that thc goes up in smoke at around 190celcius/375fareneit. It may have a different smoke point when bonded to fat, but I don't know that and have never read an answer that I found credible to that question. So watch your oven temperature!!! Don't throw it in your steaming hot fry pan!! Or, you might be destroying your stoned loveliness.

wow now I have more questions. lol. I was a bit confused, do I turn up the heat or slow simmer.. It sounded like both will destry your pot.
and are you saying after I cool it the pot will be in the butter that I scrape off? Im sure I will think of more questions. Please be patient with me. I only have access to this quantity of bud once a year. lol.

Neither will destroy your pot. Water boils at 100 celcius/212farenheit, so the advantage of having the water right there in with your bud is that it can't get to hot. A slow simmer works fine, once you've brought it to a boil and melted that mess all together.

After you cool it, you will have a solid layer of butter on top, and scuzzy water that is only useless stuff underneath. If refrigerated, you can usually just scoop the butter off the top in one piece. If frozen, scraping is involved, but still butter on top, junk on bottom, you won't confuse them it's really clear.

If it's all still liquid, you haven't waited long enough.

Feel free to keep asking questions, I'm happy to answer. I was lucky, some good friends just showed me all this the first time. I'm happy to pass the info on. In fact, I just realized I forgot a step. Go back and read 4a, I just added it!

I'm pretty convinced, based on recent experimentation, that the easiest way to eat weed is to make a really concentrated bho oil. (Although I suspect iso might work for this as well.)

Panog's spoon method turned me on, and so for the first experiment I heated 1 tsp of olive oil in a tbs, mixed in 1 joint worth of terminator, heated it a little more, let it hang out for 10 minutes, then just ate it. It was tasty, with a peppery rosemary flavor with only the barest hint of skunk. The high started kicking in at around 20 minutes, built warmly for another hour or so, and lasted for about 3 hours before it came down. I believe that eaten weed has about 3 times the psychoactive effect, because at that 1 joint dose, the high got about as intense as if I had smoked 1.5 joints, but lasted at least twice as long.

Then, I made a larger batch using the same ratio- 1 tsp/joint worth of terminator, only I made 10 doses, which was about 1/4 gram terminator, or 2.5 euro a dose- which is cheap. This time, though I didn't want to risk scorching that much lovely thc, (remember it goes poof at about 185 degrees C) so I used a water bath method. I combined the terminator with the 3 tbs olive oil in a small glass jar, gave it a good stir, then put it in a shallow water bath on a rack, and simmered it for 20 minutes. I'm actually thinking that next time I'll kick up the flavor further by throwing a sage leaf, a rosemary sprig, and a thai bird chili.

Totally am coming up with amuse- bouche ideas for terminator oil!

yum. DO you need to use terminator for that or can any good stuff work.?

Any good stuff would work I suspect, but if it's really solid I would be sure to grind it down to a fine powder, and consider upping the simmer time a bit, just to be sure.

Would ten doses at €2.50 not be a 1/2 gram ? I really wanna get some edibles done (a girl at my work does loads of baking and has offered to do space variety , and has asked for some recipes) it's just having good stuff to use !!
