Smoking outside cs, how, what, where etc?

been to dam a few times but not for 7years so haven't experienced the alcohol/tobacco changes. also when we went it was always Jan/Feb and really cold.
I've been reading the forums to see where sounds good at the mo and I've noticed a few places with outdoor seating. as we are going later in the year this sounds pleasant.
what I'm wondering is how does that work? are the cs allowed to have an area outside the shop or is it just tolerated? I can understand an enclosed private smoke garden like a beer garden but wasn't sure when smoking outside becomes smoking on the street.
also, where's the nicest cs to sit outside?

there is actually no law against smoking in the streets of the netherlands (id stay away from playgrounds/obvious minor hang outs) the goverment tried to put up signs in certain areas that said no blowers but the court ruled they have to take them down!i personally for the longest time asumed myself that only smoking in a coffeeshop or there terrace would be ok but not on the street the budtender from greenhouse tolstraat from dampkring 2 from greenhouse effect and james from basjoe all said its totally fine to smoke anywhere outside you want...even the two weeks i spent in zanndvoort i saw ppls smoking and smoked myself publicly at the beach or just sitting on a bench and literally no one seemed to give a flying fuck about it!
this is a quote from nol from another forum who is always really informativ on legal side of things:
The ruling about not being able to ban smoking cannabis outdoors is based on the Tolerance system, which is included in the Dutch Opiumlaw. This policy is going for decades now, we were allowed to smoke outdoors and in coffeeshops. i personally think smoking near kids is not done, but this ruling is good news for smokers in Holland. The ones blazing around the playground are local youngsters, not old enough to smoke in a coffeeshop, and not well behaved.
The courtcase we had about and around one of our workers being fined outdoors while having an unlit joint on him, was won. The Judge ruled that the police can not fine people for possession under 5 grams, as the Tolerance Policy allows people to possess up to 5 grams. This means nobodies weed can be confiscated on the street, when under the limit.
After someone buys weed in a coffeeshop, and this person wants to smoke it elsewhere, the police can not hassle them on the road.
It is not easy to live under Dutch Law, believe me.
hope this helps

enjoy youre trip!

ah, thanks stints, now I know, very informative. I do like a good people watch when I'm smoking so I shall be found outside somewhere hopefully. will also be helpful as the three of us are tobacco smokers and tobacco rollers. walking around is probably not going to be an issue, I'm clumsy at the best of times.

I never went in, but I always saw people sitting outside of Betty Boop looking happy.

If the cops see you smoking weed outside they'll ask you to keep it to the coffeeshops.
