Easiest way to grow?

Post by Dave J »

Well we have some seeds here, dont know what they came from except they were put in with a little prezzy that was sent for me from a family friend who I think grows his own. I'm tempted to try and grow them experimenting with just 1 seed at a time to see what happens. Only I cant risk the heaters thing or anything like that as the place we are looking at trying to grow them is a bit cautious because of numerious raids recently.

But I was wandering if it's possable to grow anything with just the lamp with just a single seed at a time to minimise the risk of detection due to smell etc?. Basically is it possable to grow in a bag\pot of grow dirt and a lamp with regular miracle grow like feed?.

1seed 1 pot/soil 1 decent lightsource should work just fine yes , I believe miracle grow is a no-no but whatever you end up doing you NEED a filter  1 plant , even a small 1 , of the right strain will stink out wherever it is , especially during flowering
Sending out the good vibes to those that need them right now :-)

I once put a seed into a little pot of soil during the winter and left it on my bedroom window sill. It got to about 4 inches, had one pair of juvenile leaves, and because of the winter sun light, it started to flower. I got half a weak joint from it too. Cant get easier than that.

Half tempted to wait till next summer and do just that as a m8 has a nice big window letting in plently of daytime light. Only issue is keeping the smell down whenever we decide to grow as if we use where I've been offered it would have to be in the corner of a spare room.

Easiest way to grow? Have someone do it for you.
"Only I cant risk the heaters thing or anything like that as the place we are looking at trying to grow them is a bit cautious because of numerious raids recently." Best bit of advice, either find another location or start making plans on being raided and arrested. Stupid is as stupid does...

Yes, you can plant one seed and grow it under one light, although a massive waste of electricity, resources, and time. If your intention is to grow as you stated, you will probably spend more on growing than what you will yield. Think it through a bit more...
First off, you are not going to get away from odor, plain and simple. Cannabis plants stink, period. You will need some type of ventilation system or not only will you have odor problems, potentially heat and moisture issues as well.
Secondly, if heat signature is a problem, use LED's or CFL's. The yield will be smaller as compared to HID's, but your intent will be met. These types of lighting also use less electricity than the mainstream standard 400w-600w lamps.
Lastly, don't use miracle grow. Read up on the nutrient requirements of cannabis and you will understand.

If your intent is fuck all and see what happens, good luck.
My suggestion, you might want to rethink your entire plan.

Good luck.
Happy farming...

Thanks for the advice most greatfull. As said the seeds were free so may just have a fuck about with half during the autumn and save the others for some outside growing next summer. Not to bothered if nothing much grows as I simply want to use the free seeds to see and learn. M8 suggests we dont need heaters or anything like that in these early leaning days and as long at we keep the light use to during ther day time we will minimise the risk of detection. We think we have a decent location in a m8's house to use for experimenting. We just have to sort out the light (probably sorted by the time I catch up with him) and ventilation.

He's suggested his bulgalow has a very small storage room under the loft hatch and leaving that open may help with ventalation?.

Plentry of ventilation going in and then extracting it will give u good results, using good lights, soil n nuits go along way to. remember its a weed, it can take alot of shit, but get the conditions wrong and your pay the price- they will die

I have a thread somewhere on rollitup.org about the grows i did.

Want me to dig em up?

Thanks for that link, sure is some great reading there. Obviously I have a hell of a lot of reading to do before we start. But I guess it does'nt help when I've little idea what seeds they are except that the donator thinks they might have come from a cheese.

Pending what my m8 says I'm thinking just get the lamp, the soil, and feed and take it from there. As said free seeds so barring the electric we would sooner practise with the free seeds even if fuck all happens to learn before buying some decent quality seeds.

Either way it looks like we may have to wait till late next month before we can start as other issues on the growing house will be a problem till then. Stil,l will give time to get everything sorted.

Been to my m8's earlyer and we are still looking at going ahead with as simple a setup as we can work with for the several seeds we have (1 at a time). The cupboard is very small but the attic hatch is just above the are we intend to use. After looking round other places it seems we might get away with no extraction\intake (or whatever the termanology is lol) if we leave the attick hatch open?.

But what we are currently stuck on is what the cheapest lighting option is for just 1 plant?. CFL's it seems is the cheapest and can be bought at B&Q I guess?. But can anyone give a suggestion or reccomend the minimum spec light we will need?.

a cfl from b&q will not do.

at least get the cfl from a hydro store, I had mine sent to me.

I had a 4 way cfl shade, and moved on to hps. don't get me wrong, cfl's are good for cloning, starting off seedlings, maybe even for veg used for side lighting.

1 plant in a cupboard i think u could use a 150w cfl. and an extractor is a must, u need that air beig changed.

And leaving a hatch open.... maybe ur get away with it but wen it flowers ur start to wish u had....
