Was wondering if many people travel on the trains and bring pot with them?
I will be doing some traveling and would like to have a little bit for the journey.

I would be very careful. A lot of trains have drug sniffing dogs randomly doing checks. Depending on how much you had on you, you could be arrested or possibly deported.

I took about 4 high speed trains during my 15 days. French customs let us walk past. Swiss customs is always possible anywhere anytime on a train that STOPS there. I was on a train that simply went (didnt stop & didn't see custom reps) through, and also on a seperate line that stopped. They got on an checked passports. No dogs that time. I never carried anything, but if I had to say there was a liberal train system it is DB in Germany.
Many riders on the forums here. Lots of "tricks" isn't a problem or concern as much as you would think. Hard for us (usa/canadia) to imagine how vast and complete all those rail lines are. WWII wasn't that long ago. Have you seen the
rail map?

Only by car but I got arrested by the customs maybe 90% of the times I tried, if you give them what you have they're cool but the ones on the train are not the same...

I know someone who was caught in Germany. Big fine, took all the weed. Really, you could be fine or it could turn in to a huge hassle.

This Schnegen freedom of movement rhetoric seems just that in practice. Many countries have just shifted border duties from customs and immigration to the police. I've had Belgian police (not noted for their efficiency) poking around asking for my ID coming back from Holland.
As for the UK (not in Schengen) immigration are making more of a nuisance of themselves holding people up but in my experience customs seem now have bigger fish to fry than weekend stoners. Not that I'd recommend taking your chances.

For the record, I have taken the train to Brussels from Amsterdam (and back) probably 50 times in 3 years and never saw one Belgian cop on the train.
In terms of Schengen, it still allows for national customs officials to stop you anywhere in the EU. If you are driving in France. its quite possible from my experience.
Regardless, its quite risky to be smuggling weed on the train in Europe......
