Solo Female

Post by hazyjane »

I'm planning a trip to Amsterdam next month, and am going alone for the weekend. I'm staying with a relative in Rotterdam, but am going to visit Amsterdam as much as possible. Any and all advice on where to go and what to see would be greatly appreciated!

Also, what's the situation with foreigners and coffeeshops? I've heard of the policy change, but was under the impression that tourists would still be allowed to purchase cannabis until the end of the year.. is that true? Should I have any trouble trying to smoke at coffeeshops?

Thanks!

You'll be fine, the latest talk on the ban mentions 2015 but even that's questionable at this point. For what places to go see and shops to hit up, spend a few hours scouring the board, especially the individual shop threads to see what's good lately, where to avoid, etc.

A few musts are Basjoes, Voyagers, Dampkring. Have a great trip

Welcome to ACD! As far as the tourist ban, don't worry. Have a look at the thread in the FAQ for more info.
What do you like to do? Is this your first visit?
If it is your first visit, do a canal tour from one of the operators on Damrak across from Centraal Station. Visit the following coffeeshops: Voyagers, Basjoe, Green Place, Paradox, 1e Hulp or Katsu. Have a meal at Moeders or Cafe de Klos. Walk through the Albert Cuypmarkt or the Noordemarkt. And if you have time a visit to Vondelpark. Do you have a bike that you can borrow or maybe rent one?

Peace

Welcome to the forum.

What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.
You can see who else may be in town and any Toke & Talks that are planned.

I just had a solo weekend earlier this month. It was awesome. Hope you have a great trip!

You won't have any trouble smoking at the coffeeshops. They are all still open to tourists.
Because life is too short to smoke bad bud.

I'm planning on arriving in Rotterdam Wed, 26 Oct and returning that Sunday, the 20 Oct. I'll probably spend the first day or so checking out Rotterdam, and then the weekend visiting Amsterdam.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to bring a bike, but I may try to rent one while there (I'm in Spain now and it's only a few euros to rent one for the day).

Thanks for all the tips! I have heard only great things about Amsterdam and am incredibly excited to explore.
