Sorry, but I have to agree with CannaSir.
There's hundreds, if not thousands, of cogent arguments justifying the legalisation or decriminalisation of cannabis. Most of those aren't mentioned in this petition. And the points that have been put forward are inaccurate and inconsistent.
Not to mention this petition seems to have been put together by a minor? If you can't vote, don't expect to change the world just yet
I know that must sound hugely condescending, but it is true. The core of the legalisation argument lies with economic and socio-cultural reasoning. It could make money, it could reduce crime and millions of people continue to do it despite prohibition. And more recently, the medicinal benefits have also got plenty of exposure (cheers Cali!)... though I'm not entirely convinced that it is the cure-all some portray it to be.
The 'it's not as bad as these other things' or 'it's side effects aren't too harmful' aren't really reasons for legalisation... more like justifications for the prohibition of alcohol and tobacco as well.
Personally, I'm a libertarian. I think everyone should be able to do whatever they please, do long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others to do the same. But I know that'll never take off... being liberal and being pro-active don't really seem to mix.
