1st time grower

Post by StonerDan »

Will be doing my first grow when i move back to my flat in a few months, and was wandering what strains im best to go, considering im a beginner. My mate has some knowledge on the actual process and obviously google is my freind. I'm only going to go with 4 or 5 plants as i dont want to over crowd it and give the plants the best possible chance to give me the best possible yield (obviously).

Now my biggest problem is what to grow, there are so many different strains out there, i ideally want a kush a cheese and a haze. I found some casey new york city which is a cross between casey jones and nycd that had me salivating.

I 100% will be doing cheese wreck that has already been decided. I was thinking Kandy Kush but after reading a few reports the yield wasnt the best so any ideas on a kush that is easy to grow and produces a good yield and i want to do haze, i found this one http://www.everyonedoesit.com/online_he ... uctID=8081 but ive never smoked it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Dan

Hi dan

I just came back from Amsterdam and g13 was one of my favourite strains :D

For growing then we have tried a number of strains and so far the keepers are

Super silver cheese - great smoke very nice yield
Amnesia haze - good yield and very nice smoke
Ice - very good yield and great smoke

Stay away from White rhino - we've grown it 2 times - about 6 plants in total - very bushy - shrinks after it's been dry by about 70%

I've heard that train wreck is supposed to be a good smoke and good yield but didn't come across any when in Amsterdam

Im only growing for me self, not going to go crazy just a few plants for medicinal purposes, helps with my chronic knee pains and ADHD

Thanks for the advice, G13 is for sure, fancy doing Red Dragon, want to have an Indica for night and Sativa for the day

Bit of advice, stick to 1 strain for your first couple of grows, they should all finish round about the same time which will make it easier to grow but also to harvest.

Get a good grow book as well, Jorge Cervantes Grow Bible is pretty much the best on the market, it is probably still around in pdf format on a torrent site if you dont want to buy it (I do recommend buying it, it's the best toilet reading a grower can own ;) ).

Yeah stick with strain with the same flowering time, so you can harvest everything the same day and use your tent for drying

I know what you mean bruv, but im a bit of a weed whore, i want all different flavours and effects.

Ive just got a book funnily enough i ordered it today and its the grow bible you are talking about ahahaha.

Ive been doing some research and am i better to be using hydroponics or just go the normal way of watering it.

Oh and weed whore or not if you mix tall strain and short strain you're gonna have a big problem with the lights... Dont waste your grow, do a bit of research so you can find strains which will fit well together, for example Barney's LSD and World of Seeds' Northern Lights x big bud grow exactly the same way but are very different for taste/high

Thanks for that, fuckin hell never realised growing it would be such a head fuck, might just go for 1 strain them as it will be my 1st i dont want to be fucking up, just thought i could crack on with 2 or 3 easily.

My grow bible should be here in a few days, have at least 6-12 months before im back at my friends flat so plenty of time to learn, then again i guess you the best way to learn is to do it

Yeah growing is the best learning method, go to seedfinder there are a lot of growing reviews for every strain with their height, way of growing, ... And their true flowering time, not the one they write on the pack (seeds companies are liars), it helps a lot

I've been doing it for about 7 years and I'm still learning, I'm forever trying differant little things too see if I end up with better results.

As to what sort of grow? I wrote this elsewhere:

I use Canna a&b, cannazym, regen-a-root, headmasta (latter 2 by Canadian Express even though they're an Aussie company???) and canna's ph down grow & bloom (basically ph down for the 2 differant grow cycles), in canna coir.

Edit: Something I should add is get a ph meter, they are so important to any type of growing, if your ph is off your plants will suffer.
