A little corny? You only get 15 minutes in the bar itself!
sellvegas wrote:and the ZOO if its not too cold this place was FKN AWESOME - right next to van gogh museum as well!
Artis is East of the Centrum and the Van Gogh in the South. Maybe you're thinking about Rembrandthuis.

And to the OP, during the cup is one of the best time to visit Amsterdam. There is also a greater chance of meeting several members.

Peace

Thanks for the tips everyone. My itenary is rapidly growing:

Reichsmuseum
Van Gogh Museum
Two hours stoned and naked in sauna / baths
Rollercoaster :D
Tour of amsterdam by boat
Trip to Haarlem
Hours and hours spent in various coffeeshops as a babbling stoned mess
Hopefully an electronic gig of some kind - preferably decent techno / dubstep / drum n bass - anyone know if there's anything decent on Friday 25th?
Attend one of the toke and talk events on one of the evenings
Probably a short stay in a mental asylum by the end

Hopefully I can manage to fit in all of this in four days...

This forum is a goddamned godsend.

You are well in luck as there's a load of stuff on that night worth checking out. There's a club called Trouw which has Todd Terje playing. Apologies if you know about the DJs I'm going to describe but Terje plays nu disco/deep house and is superb. Air nightclub has Audiofly and some excellent local DJs - night will be techno and tech house. Melkweg is hosting Innovation with Brookes Brothers, TC, Phantasy, Original Sin and a load of other great drum and bass DJs.

However, if you really want to do something totally mental that will seriously blow you away then go to Awakenings at the Gashouder. I went to their outdoor festival in June (I was only in the country for about 36 very messy hours!!) and I'm hoping to get over at Easter to one of the nights they will have on at the Gashouder. Awakenings are one of the most respected techno promoters in the whole world and are famed for the excellent line ups and high levels of production they always put on. Don't let the ticket price put you off, as they are quite expensive but well worth the money, and the venue is just a short tram ride from Central station.

There's loads of official videos on youtube but here's one from their last event a couple of weeks ago to give you a flavour:

Cheers, mate. I'm actually extremely tempted by this - the lineup is amazing - Jeff Mills followed by Speedy J(!!) - and the laser show in that video you posted looks absolutely incredible. Unfortunately I fly out at 5pm the next day, which would realistically mean no sleep at all and I'm figuring probably a weeks recovery time from this given the likelihood / certainty of extreme overindulgence - its kind of dependent on how much work I have on the next week. Tough one, but very tempting.

This looks great actually. Thanks for posting. Do you know if you can smoke weed at the venue?

@Vertical Square...
Yes weed smoking is allowed in the Winston Kingdom. And they have a full bar.

No problem mate, happy to help! I totally hear what you're saying as the fallout from a big night like this can continue on for a good few days - we're not getting any younger and all that!! I don't know about your own situation (and I'm certainly not probing  ) but I rarely get the chance to have nights out like this so when they do come round I grab them with both hands and worry about the consequences later. It's worth remembering though that regardless of whether you opt to go to a club or not, you will still feel totally done in when you get home.

Probably the best thing to do though is see how you feel when the time comes, although Awakenings does tend to sell out in advance so if you fancy it then I wouldn't hang about. They always give a warning when tickets are running low so if and when that happens I'll post a message on here.
