Checking back in from the Dam, currently in day 9 of my 25 day adventure. It's been an amazing ride so far, and things are really just getting started. Posting up at Temple Bar later tonight by Greenplace to watch some college football, Sinterklaas arrives tomorrow, and then going to see Yelawolf Tuesday night after a T&T. Haven't gotten around to posting pics yet, and I'm far behind on keeping this really current, but let's keep this rolling.

My fourth day here, this past Monday, went a little something like this...

My eyes open
head still floating
it's a new day in the dam
chirping birds
tram lines moving
reminding me where I am
I roll on over
and hop up outta bed
quick whiz with my hand posted on the wall
fresh coffee for my head
two eggs over easy
butter on my toast
delicious bacon sizzlin
it's about time for a roast
grab my cheaply purchased bong
pack it full of haze
hawaiian to be exact
sit back and commence to john blaze
munching on my breakfast
dutch news on in the back
now it's time to hit the cobblestone
and get this day on track
toss on my clothes
I'm out the door on the quick
nearly cut off a biker
stink eye from a hot dutch chick
strolling over canals
on a mission to see James
grab a little OG
and introduce it to some flames
life's never been better
and that's just how it goes
non-stop joints and glass bowls at Basjoe
grab a latte
now I'm back on my toes
seeking the mexi haze
I head where they've hosted Oceans
marathon day with a main goal
of amassing the proper potions
I'm outta the Dampkring
and my mind is feeling grey
now I'm heading to that area
great addition
to an ever-improving day
solid hashish buy
no seats so I fly
feeling highly blessed
it appears a voyage is on my mind
yea it takes a minute
but mind you I'm in heaven
my only regret being
I didn't start the day at 7
after a dance with some Kandy
I'm feeling quite groovy
grab a cold beer from t'Nes
and then home for a couch movie
what a great fucking day
tomorrow I might just do it again
and I'm always good for a T&T
just tell me where and when

@CesarJeez - Any objection to me quoting those two posts on my blog? I have an Amsterdam area that gets occasional updates, but wanted to check with you first. Happy to either properly credit (forum profile url/your choice) or anonymize, as preferred. Love the style of writing, think your stream of conscious style in the second post could help educate some of my reader's inquisitive but inexperienced minds :)

Much thanks for the good vibes and compliments. I'm hoping to have some time tomorrow to sit down and look at my notes to crank out a good writeup about strains and shops I've tried over the last 10 or so days. My wife just got into town and we're staying over in the Jordaan for the next week, so I'm looking forward to staying in a new part of town after stints in a houseboat off the Prinsengracht (near Utrechstraat) and a place off Albert Cuypstraat in De Pijp. @SilentlyScreaming...I don't mind if you use any content, just anonymize as you'd mentioned.

so lastnight was fun...

It was all a dream
I used to read Time Out magazine
Matty, luvtick, and USB sitting mezzanine
strain pictures on my wall
this past sunday
stopped by Basjoe
excellent toke and talk
a little late
11:30 when I plopped
smokin weed with spoon too
Bonglord's private stock
way back
Roor tubes getting matched
time to toughen up
on goes the smoker hardhat
"you'll never be the same"
he said as he opened the jar
if you wake up and yell at your friend
who's sleepy and has taken it too far
now I see flashy lights and 3-D sights
time to get baked
pull tubes
now the day is made
the night's a winner
in the company
of the opposite of sinners
still dreaming of goat cheese
wrapped in bacon for dinner
peace to ACD, Slip & Sal, Gapie
those that I've met
and those I've yet to meet
I'm gettin high like you thought I would
vodafone, skype, gmail
hit me up
it's all good
and if you don't know, now ya know, stoners!

Yes, these are my lyrics, but credit must be given where it's due...

Sadly, my incredible Amsterdam experience has come to an end. I now find myself in Paris, drunk off wine, absolutely fiending for some herb, and elbowing every prick Frenchie I can throw a bow at. I'm a little shocked at all of the recent developments that have occurred since I dipped outta town between raids and shutdowns, and send my condolences to those of you who have gotten screwed over, emotionally beat down, and stripped of what you wanted to be the perfect vacation.

But NOTHING, absolutely nothing, can take away what I lived, breathed, saw, and felt over the last several weeks. Just breathtaking. I tried about 50 different strains, pretty much have been to every coffeeshop in AMS I've ever dreamed about stepping foot in, saw every part of town imaginable, and most of all, met some really fucking incredible people.

I left Amsterdam Wednesday morning with only one regret...

That I didn't get to spend even more time with some of those really fucking incredible people.

I finally made it to my first Basjoe T&T Sunday night and ended up rolling out there Monday and Tuesday night as well. While it was fun meeting and chatting up random strangers all throughout town, the family feel of the ACD crew simply makes everything better. Having only joined the forum since February, I hadn't met anyone and really wasn't sure to expect.

Not that I have anything against young folks, hell I'm still in my twenties (for another few months at least), but it was nice to be around some seasoned AMS vets, people you can learn a thing or two from in regards to both weed and life, as opposed to the sketchy packs of untrustworthy 20 year olds that usually cram the city this time of year.

USBL is like an ambassador of good times for those T&T's at Basjoe, always roaming the room to make sure everyone is having a great time and involved in the conversation, not allowing anybody to go more than an hour without a nail hit, and always standing up to shake your hand anytime you arrive or leave. I'm not even sure he realizes he does all this, but he keeps a roomful of stoners from different countries and ethnicities united as one big very high and happy family...a little spoon doesn't hurt either. Thanks dude.

Aside from USBL, I met and got to hang with Luvtick (looking forward to your report!), Matty, Balou, Slip & Sal, Gapie, Twich, Dagger, and was briefly in the presence of Strawberry, Colina, Kingdoc, Bongbhoy, Badbone, and a few others, although I didn't formally meet everyone and I'm not certain they knew who the hell I was, or vice versa.

While there seems to be nothing but doom and gloom news coming out of the 'dam in recent days, just remember, and I don't wanna sound too cheesy here, but a really good time with really great people is something that can never be taken away.

Unless that is, you have more than 5g of good memories on your mind...

trying to crank out as much as I can while it's still fresh on my mind...sadly, the taking of notes went south after the first week...

How about a Top and Bottom 5?

Top 5 Shops (in no particular order)

Greenplace - My kinda place...hip hop pounding in your ears, either an old school NBA game or English Premier League on the tube, really chill budtenders, and excellent herb, most of which you can snag at really great deals. Doesn't hurt that it's right next door to what's become my favorite bar in Amsterdam, Temple Bar. The 7E deals for the AK, Jack, and White Widow are tough to touch around town....loved the Trainwreck

Bluebird - very helpful budtender that is more than happy to bring out and show you any gear you desire, plenty of room to chill, and on the less travelled outskirts of town...big fan of the Kushadelic and Blue Cheese from here

137 - stayed about 200 meters from here my last week in town and foolishly only dropped in once. If you're still in town, GET HERE. It's over in the Jordaan and doesn't get near the traffic that the Harlemerstraat shops get even though it's fairly closeby. Tried the sour deisel, the only place in town where I'd seen it on the menu, and I definitely wasn't disappointed...I've also heard the Amnesia and Cheese from here are incredible

Katsu - amazing bud here, and right across from Cafe Flinck (try the brie sandwich during lunchtime)...last night in De Pijp picked up 2g of Amnesia, OG 18, and Bubble Gum...the Amnesia from here was probably my favorite smoke of the trip

Little - just got a thing for this place, I fucking love it. Always awesome budtenders, very chill and away from the occasional madness of the centrum, and the inspiration for the title of my trip report

Honorable Mention

Basjoe - there's a reason the nighly T&T's are held here..plenty of seating, great crowd, well ya'll know the rest

Club Media - over in De Pijp...at 15E/g, the Hawaiin haze was a little pricey, but the best tasting smoke of the trip...also a nice place to take your lady if she's a novice smoker and wants a relaxing atmosphere...cute blonde chicks everywhere never hurts either

Voyagers - I'm sure this woulda cracked the top five had I spent more time in here, but the time I did spend here was great. HB is more than helpful with purchase selection and Mrs. HB is always smiling and greeting everyone...good folks. And that Kosher and Kandy...mmmm

Bottom 2 (really can't complain about anywhere else to make it to 5, I'm not too tough to please)

Atlantis - over in De Pijp...plenty of space, but not being a local who knew everyone else I was immediately grilled by just about everyone in there. I'm certain I was being talked about the entire time I was there, and it wasn't just paranoia. Not that I really gave a shit though. However, after having some bean-based soup earlier in the afternoon, I decided to air the place out before leaving, giving my new "friends" a smoothly stenched parting gift.

Mellow Yellow - normally one of my favorite places, but not this trip. I've probably been in here about 10 times between 3 trips, but if I drop in again, it will be buy and fly only. Picked up some blueberry (which was quite subpar compared to previous times), sat down and proceeded to twist one up while adding in some Moroc I had gotten elsewhere, and was quickly scolded and asked to leave for breaking out a bag ("I don't see any yellow on that bag!")that didn't come from there. The place was nearly empty and I'd never had this problem before. Really quite surprising and I laughed at first thinking he was just dicking around with me, which only infuriated Mr. Pissypants even more. Give me a fucking break. Someone apparently hadn't gotten laid in a while and was on edge...build a bridge and get over it dude.

Top and bottom 5 experiences/moments from the trip coming soon....
