The two above statements are the best plans... I think I slept all 9 of 10 hrs on a connector through London to Toronto thanks to a couple fatties and two or three cakes from Centraal.

i cost like 60 euro one way and 70 euro back. Missed the cheap deals by a day. They had 35 euro each way special on. We went for 6 or 7 days. It took about 3.5 to 4 hours to get to Paris Noord. If you are thinking of going, plan to see as much shit as quickly as possible and then run back to Amsterdam as Paris is shit.

Before i left on the plane, i ate two space cakes, had a thousand or so roadies before we left and smoked a huge amsterdam joint, filled with all the cup selections, right out front of schipol. Lets just say they searched me really thoroughly, because of my iridescent red eyes.

   :?:

Marco's post was admittedly offensive, but in his defense, making sweeping statements such as these opens you to ridicule.

Why did you think it was shit, as a matter of interest?

Just have to say also, when people are living for long time IN the dam, they couldn't understand the hype from the people who're going at least only one time in life (the most of them at least!) so marco, keep cool and let'em talk.

why not?

Ps.: Paris could be shitty if you're going to think you could do a run around the city and then have seen everything (or anything) and gotta the real feeling from the people who lived there and the vibe of the city.. Yes, you will lost hundreds of euro anyway what you're planing to do there

I loved Paris. It was so romantic and to see such history as in the Louvre and such was a great experience. I would do it again.

Right now I am at 7 Amsterdam trips and 2 Paris trips! If it wasn't for the coffeeshops, those numbers would be reversed :!:

I think that is what it boils down to for S&S, he could not find dope in France.

The 'shit' in Paris includes some of the worlds best food, museums, architecture, shopping and (yes) PEOPLE if you jump out of your comfort zone and speak their language and try to not act like a tourist. The French are leagues more friendly to non-natives than the Dutch, and that opinion comes from living in both countries.

I have to admit, I think its easier to live in Amsterdam, because day to day life in Paris can be tough, but I doubt that is what Mr. one day visit was referring to.

I love Paris, lived there for a bit.

I don't think Paris is as accessible as Amsterdam, but in terms of museums and restaurants it really beats Amsterdam. And they have the best markets.

Marco, I'm surprised to hear you say that the French are friendlier than the Dutch. That was not my experience of Paris. Natives there tend to be aloof and slow to warm. They are also less generally tolerant of tourists. (Which may come from the fact that tourism is a much smaller portion of the city's commerce.) As a polite visitor I have never incurred any hostility, but I do speak passable french.

I think Paris is the most visited city in the world, but maybe it's best selling point is it's proximity to Amsterdam!
I don't think they are at all comparable as cities, they are really in different categories.
The Dutch are definitely more Anglophile in general.
About getting checked on the train, I carry all the time on my train trips back to Brussels, but I always take the "normal" train and never the Thalys. I was thinking that one strategy might be to change trains in Brussels and take a train to Paris that is not originating from Amsterdam, but Cologne or Frankfurt. I think the French would be less likely to search on those trains, but I might be wrong.

Well Paris is not France, just like Amsterdam is not the Netherlands. With some significant exceptions, I find the Dutch to often be cold, closed, provincial and intensely focused on their own language, culture, etc....not to mention often small-minded. I know that may ruffle some feather, sorry!

I think people living in Paris (at least near the center) suffer from the same issue that many people living in the center of global landmarks do, that the constant barrage of tourists can be tiresome.

What is with the making shit up????
Marco wrote:No offense, but you are an idiot.
Total offense taken your an up-your-self fuckwit!

God if I knew you were still fucking whinging about me Marco, I would of thought your more of a fuckwit then I already do. I didn't spend one fucking day in Paris, I spent a fucking week there. I also did score, though i still thought Paris to be shit. So did Sal. It was the people ,not the objects. The art is wonderful, we spent two full days in the Louvre. Visted The Arc De Triomphe, The Effiel tower, The catacombs and the Notre Dame cathedral. We ate frog legs and snails, had champagne. Even went to Euro Disney.

We still fucking disliked the place, because of the people, how they acted and their manners. They were rude and I even spoke fucking french to them, Sal was quite amazed how fluent I was, one man thought I was french until we got into an indepth conversation, that I couldn't hold. Once he knew i wasn't french, he left no explanation. So you can go jump with this step outside your box shit. I tried to accommodate and respect the country I was in and it's people. They didn't respect me.

Stop acting like a tourist???? How the fuck can I? That's exactly what I was and will be if I ever go back. That's the fucking problem, Parisians want my tourist money, but they don't want me to act like a tourist. That's fucking stupid.

Marco stop bitching about me, go change your knickers and your skirt to the fairy one, fuck off from hassling me and go and grow a neck as well.
