True its a question that can only be debated as theres no definitive answer.

I think that weed available to the mass market is stronger nowadays due to technological advances in grow set ups and good grow techniques easily accessible online. whereas in past it was harder to find good quality bud regularly.

Im sure that grown with todays knowledge and standards they would be as strong. I do feel todays weed would win on taste having sampled various thai weed in thailand it was all strong but not great to smoke compared to a good blue or haze.

I think our memories alter our perception of things, when I first started smoking the weed kicked my ass (it was about the time that Super Skunk was first about) and from my memory it was a lot stronger than anything I've smoked since, I think tolerance plays a big part as well, sadly we'll never know what is stronger but the one thing I do think is a lot of hybrids may have high thc and/or cbd but I dont think they're as good as a purer natural strain.

I guess in the 70's they liked their 'weed porn' badly shot and leafy. Much in the same way they liked their 'porn porn' badly shot and hairy :D
   So true.

I sent this to my f-i-l for a laugh, as he's into that retro stuff.

Thanks for the awesome spread CannaSir!

I'm getting on in years myself and have seen the change. During the 60's 70's and even 80's, weed was largely grown outdoors in large fields. Females got pollinated. The weed potency was low. The indoor grow revolution of the 90's changed everything. There has always been high potency sensimilla. Only change is that recently this became the standard not exception. Plus holland and Cali etc provide good environments for horticultural advancement, hence some newer more potent strains.

Btw. I think if we were smoking the average commercial weed of earlier decades it would mainly just give us a headache. I don't know bout all you guys, but I for one can't smoke seeded crap anymore. Tolerance is too high from the high potency buds.
