Thanks for taking the time and trouble to write your report. I really enjoyed reading it. Very funny at times and very engaging.

I reckon you did more in your three / four days than I have done in my last three trips.

But thats the fatal flaw in having your own hotel room .... it can get hard to leave it when you get stoned and comfortable

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, much appreciated Thought I'd make the report detailed as the detailed ones were the ones I enjoyed reading before I flew over, so glad people enjoyed it.

Some of the best moments of the trip were actually lying in bed listening to Pink Floyd on my iPod so I can definitely empathise with what you're saying. Will definitely be getting a hotel room next time, if I end up doing less than so be it...

Your rant was well spoken, VS. I sympathize with you and your countrymen. My neighbor is from Ireland and recently left there, having had enough of the BS. I think that many are fleeing Ireland with the hopes of finding a better life. I hope that you find yours.

And the absurd and tragic thing is that Amsterdam and the rest of The Netherlands are gradually but steadily moving against the herb.

I stand firm in my belief that there aren't many problems in this world sufficient amount of the herb can't solve. I dare say that if the herb is not only legalized, but made mandatory for adults, 90% or more of the world's problems would simply wither away.

However, to get there, we need to be able to drive home the point into the politicians and the conservatives' thick skull -- and that is likely not going to happen any time soon.

What we need is a revolution.

Excellent report , well writen and very funny. We have all been there ! (states of confusion etc). Went to Haarlem last time and dont remember anything about getting back on the train and much of the evening was an outragous tramp around the city and areas , wondering "how the f**ck" did I get here. Only by piecing receipts etc together could I work out some of my trail , with assorted memories.

When absolutely wrecked - nothing beats listening to "Dark Side of the Moon" on the IPOD.....(along with Bowie)

Shows my age I suppose.

Great read, really enjoy your style of writing. Any time spent in Amsterdam is great time... but sadly I agree, it never seems to be enough. There's few places on earth you always hear people say that.

Thanks Mr Canucks and sorry for not responding to your comment earlier. Was incredibly busy when I returned from the Dam and had to ban myself from this forum for a while - just googled the meaning of Canuck - interesting

I had read some of your reports with a mixture of enjoyment and pure disbelief. Your capacity for weed smoking is truly astounding...

Cheers, Dave. Dark Side of the Moon is indeed a masterpiece. Its actually practically unbelievable how good it is - I can't think of any album in the last ten years which has come even close to this in terms of cohesiveness, quality of sound and general amazingness. I was talking to a friend of mine recently about the music business and he was saying how sad it was that the days of these HUGE studio albums are over. Back in the day when people bought rather than stole music, and there was money to be made from recordings, bands were given enormous recording budgets by record labels - often millions of dollars - and basically left to their own devices to make the best album they could. These days have sadly passed now and perhaps we'll never have an album like DSOM again.

Huge Bowie fan aswell, by the way. Especially the stuff he did with Eno.

yuppers, Canuck is slang for Canadian... glad yer back and the ban has ended.

Great report of your first trip...brings back memories of my first visit and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

P.S. if you like Dark Side of the Moon you should also check out "Dub Side of the Moon" by the Easy Star All-Stars....it's always on my playlist when in Mokum.
