New here and need to unwind..

Post by rebar »

Hey everyone! :D

Long story short.. I have to visit Europe to take care of some loose ends. Open Jaw flight to salzburg for a day or two, then amsterdam for at least 5 days (wish I could just stay), then back to the states. My life is so busy at the moment I really dont have the time to visit, but I haven't had a vacation for over 15 years. Im pretty messed up after being railroaded into marriage which might be finally dissolving. Lots of regrets.. That, and I got a possession charge this spring after being a toker for 35 years. Iv been on the wagon since then.

So somehow I need to erase 15 years of memories and I figure Amsterdam might do the trick. At least while I'm there.. Im going to lurk around here a bit and then maybe ask a few stupid questions if I dont find them with the search function.

Oh, thinking about a quiet smoking apartment with canal view. Im not rich but I figure you cant take it with you.. I found a place called the Munt apartment but Im not sure how noisy it is at Amstel 10 after reading a bad review at
http://www.budgetplaces.com/amsterdam-a ... tment.html
The description Sounds like two apartments. Clearly shows two different kitchens. Yet Arnold the manager says it one apartment and wont answer my question if there is TV reception or construction near by.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.
You can see who else may be in town and any Toke & Talks that are planned.

Dates are unclear at the moment. But end of May beginning of June I hope.

Is this a busy time for Tourists? Meaning will it be hard to make reservations the longer I wait?

What mistake did you make to catch possession charge? If you don't mind sharing. Complacency set in maybe?

http://www.keukenhof.nl/ nice..

After my Moms sudden death I started drinking straight rum heavy. I had way to much and was walking home from my buddies house one night and blacked out while still walking. Hadn't eaten all day. I guess cops found me trespassing in someones yard along my way home. I woke up in jail for trespassing, public intox and possession of less than a eighth not remembering a thing. Bruises all over. I got a deferred judgement since it's my first offense and I'm going to a substance abuse program. What a racket.

Its funny how I had smoked more than half my life, yet when I started drinking things got ugly. Now I'm occasionally drinking a beer since a positive piss test would make my possession charges permanent.

I dont need to be in the city. Id love to have a apartment in the middle of nowhere by a canal or lake with a coffee shop within walking distance. My uncle has a place in St Gilgen Austria I could borrow and relax at.. But I would like some tolerated buds and wont smuggle.

Thanks.. I appreciate that.

It was a rough ride. Mom died. Then my Dad fell and broke his hip after the funeral and died shortly after. Still need to spread his ashes and get things out of his house..

Im done stuffing my feelings away and feeling sorry for myself.

I definitely can relate, especially after reading your follow up post on your misfortune with the possession charge. Stories like these really sadden me.

Thinking along the same line, I made a trip to AMS in October of 2006 after a nasty divorce. From my perspective, it's worked wonders and I have no regrets opting for AMS over the suggested alternate, 'counciling'.

Fortunately for me, since that time I have been regularly employed and so I have made it a priority to visit AMS annually on a self adopted 'hajj' to my personal 'mecca'.

There are no drug tests in my world to worry about, but it sounds like that is not the case with you. Were I in your shoes, that would be my only worry and I might prepare for a cleansing regimen on my return.

Best of luck to you, enjoy your trip!

By the time I go, I wont be on self supervised probation or any substance abuse program so no piss tests. I got a deferred sentence since it was my first offense which means no record if I complete the program.

Im really tired of living here but one day it wont be illegal. In fact one day my grand kids will laugh when I tell them I got busted for possession..
