I'm 57 she's 62

Post by avalon »

First trip, I have smoked for 40 yrs( Hash Ganja), she just tries but can't inhale so she is really a casual smoker I am full on.
What shops should us oldtimers go to???, we dont need loud music, big crowds, just a place I would like and she would feel comfortable in,

Price is also important, I just want to pay the going rate not gouged at a tourist trap.

thanks
Ian and Laura

Hey Siberie and Cafe 420 are both laid back places. I spent my birthday at siberie and we went to 420 several times when we were there because we liked the atmosphere and its a fairly big place. But they play classic rock music at a level you can actually have a conversation. My favorite is Basjoe, very nice budtender James will take good care of you there, it is mellow, clean, simple inside and excellent weed/hash. Usually they play reggae music but again its an acceptible level where you can have a conversation and not have to yell at each other to hear. People sit around watching games on the tv or playing board games. Very relaxed here, you will like all three of these places I think. Good luck :)

Where are you staying?

Finding a good coffeeshop close to home is always a "WIN!"

Nothing wrong with the previous recommendations, but close to home has it's advantages!

I'm seventy (70) and my wife's sixty-five (65) and where heading back to Amsterdam in May 2012. If the Dutch government doesn't screw it up for 2013, we'll be back in again!

As a first timer, there is a lot of help/guidance you can get from these forums! So if you have questions, just ask! Do your research and you will have a great time!

If you do visit de Kuil, have the budtender do a vapo bag for you.
It might be a lot easier on the wife since there is no smoke involved.

First timers get my S G Collins recommendation
I think a read of this will maximize your efficiency once you get there.

How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam.

Enjoy

We are 47 & 59. We went for our first time in Sept '11 and we both are full on stoners. We had the time of our lives. You will too! :)

de graal gets a reccomendation from me, although i may lack in experience (at the tiny age of 25) but this place is really calm, nice coffee, relaxing low level background music, friendly staff and really nice weed at a fairly good price. you can even sit on the comfortable sofas upstairs and play chess, if thats your sort of thing, its not mine...

Paradox is very chill, as well as Kadinsky's on Romarijn and het Ballontje. They are all very small and intimate.

I have found that the coffee shop you find in the morning has a different vibe at night, I would add the bluebird and around the corner Reefer. I am 59 years

I would have the wife do a vapo bag if I knew what one was. Is that just something to keep her quiet...? Does it have a more mellow effect on her?

a large plastic bag full of vapor instead of smoke. It is far easier to inhale. They will show you what to do, just look for shops with a volcano. Its a different experience than trying to inhale smoke from a joint or pipe. You vaporize the weed instead of lighting it on fire with a lighter. The machine heats it up and fills the bag with vapor. You then inhale the weed vapor and its lighter and easier than just regular smoke. We like ours.

Here's a thread with some guidance that was given to another first-timer not so long ago. https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewt ... =9&t=19334.

There are a couple of different paths that can be followed, vapo or edibles. The latter is totally smokeless while the former has the advantage of easy doseage control. Whichever path you choose, proceed with caution so as to avoid the dreaded "white-out!" Care should be taken if mixing cannabis and alcohol.

Have a great trip!
