solo or not?.Advice please
Re: solo or not?.Advice please
I would LOVE to travel to Amsterdam solo. I love my wife, and we have a great time in Amsterdam together, but she doesn't smoke...She never says anything but I feel pressure to not spend all day in coffeeshops, when all I really want to do is visit as many coffeeshops as possible, sample as many strains as I can, and then eat my way through the city. It would be great to be able to sleep as late as I want, linger wherever I feel like it, and not worry if someone else is bored, hungry, tired, etc. It would also be nice to linger around the red light district for more than a moment without getting funny looks from her!
I don't know that I'd want to do this every time...but a week in Amsterdam on my own would be awesome.

Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?

I love Amsterdam solo. (I love it with my Mr and with a group too.)
I get a chance to talk to strangers (something I love but my mr doesn't as much), wander around taking pictures for hours, and catch up with friends in the city. I like being by myself though, and really don't get lonely.

Because life is too short to smoke bad bud.

Yep I allways go solo. Out of the 20 odd times I have been only been with friends twice. Do what you like when you like. I don't make plans as 9 times out of 10 I never see them through.
Next trip 1st August 2015. 2 weeks camping/putting my feet up.

Considering a solo trip end of Jan meeself, maybe we'll bump into each other in Voyagers or whatever. But like a previous poster 90% of the 33 years I've smoked Ive smoked alone with a beer in front, a joint in my hand and my personal music on my ears. And I know from my 3 previous trips that most of the fun isnt to be found in the coffeeshops as you know having so many trips under your belt yourself.
I really would like coffeeshops a lot better if they made an effort to play decent music. But I have no doubts that any normal stoner would enjoy Amsterdam by him/herself. Weed has a charming propensity to unite people if the same people are prepared to make an effort, I say go for it and I bet you have a riot.

Although most of the trips I've made over have been with friends, I have done a few on my own and loved it. The best one was when I went over for 5 days back in about 2002 or so, especially as it was all paid for by my work! I didn't have to actually do any work at all though and spent the whole time visiting coffeeshops, as well as an overnight stay in Rotterdam to visit some friends and go to a festival.
I love being able to do whatever I want, without being tied into a group dynamic. There's nothing more frustrating than being part of a group in Dam and no one can make their mind up as to what they want to do, or you end up going somewhere that you don't want to because that's what the group decides. The worst occasions for me have been when I've gone over with my wife and other couples - the amount of time we wasted standing around deciding what to do doesn't even bear thinking about!!
My advice would be to decide on a few things you want to do/see to give your time a bit of structure and play the rest by ear. It's easy to set up a T&T with some ACDers if you want a bit of company but otherwise enjoy the freedom!!

This March/April I'll be doing 15 days and 14 nights in Adam, which is my Disneyland. This is my fifth trip: all solo. Most people can't consume the humongous amounts of high grade weed and hash I enjoy doing and would rather do the "tourist thing". Madame Tussaud's, anyone? Not me. I'll just be honest and say I go to get stoned out of my skull and get laid by the most beautiful women I've ever seen. The people are great and so is the architecture, but that's beside the point. Most wives and girlfriends don't like the stiff competition (pun intended). You can hear them nagging their men as the walk through the RLD. You don't have to understand the language to know what they're saying. Have fun, dude. And remember that what happens in Amsterdam stays in Amsterdam.

I've been to Amsterdam 4 times, once on my own. I think that if you're going there primarily to smoke, you best be with people that are also there for that reason, and will want to trek out of the city a bit. The three times I was with people, they weren't really smokers, or kind of got over it by the 2nd day. It made it difficult for me to just ditch them and sit in a coffeeshop on my own, so all three times weren't anywhere near as good as the trip on my own. But I wish some of my friends were a bit more keen.

Re: solo or not?.Advice please
I would say that i've gone solo to amsterdam 80% of the time. And I highly recomend it.
I have the same problem as a lot of you do...my other isn't a smoker.
and I just don't feel right about draging along someone who hasn't any interest in it. ( how booring it must be for them)
So we've found over the years that we're both happier if we do somethings apart from each other. So try solo, it's great fun and you don't have to please any but yourself
