I think Greenhouse Tolstraat would be a great way to represent the coffeeshop scene in a positive light. Here's the thing though, people who have their minds made up will see what they want to see, so don't be too disappointed if he doesn't see the light. I find trying to explain the ridiculous nature of prohibition to the brainwashed (eg, my wife) is like beating my head against the wall. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try though! Good luck!

Wishing you all the best of luck.

Have a look at the following videos to see how difficult it could be to bring them over to the light side  don't push the issue too hard and spoil the friendship you have.

What was wrong with this tool? why would he do this? He thinks what he has been told to think about these people after they presented him with an olive branch and good hospitality. and then heads off to the police station?? HIPOCRITE.... he is viewing the law to be his moral compass, not making any decision on his own.. sheep!! do a little research about the Prohibition movement in the US. ... the biggest reason Marijuana was banned was because of politiacal lobyying , the paper industry was feeling threatened and went on a rant about how dangerous the Hemp plant was.. so they went on a "Refer Maddness" campaign. . Does he really think that drinking is not any more dangerous than Cannabis? and he drinks to boot!?? Closed minded ..... he would make a great politician.. This type of persons fundamental belief in the fact the cannabis is evil is ingrained in them. They have been taught this from a very young age. it goes hand in hand like religious guilt. These people were not bothering anyone. did they not pay their taxes? they certainly didn't live in the center of town searching for attention, or drawing attention to themselves.. what about the ability to live the way you want without interruption if you are not harming anyone else. "Build more prisons" that's as good as you've got? Not a very smart answer.. the U.S. is full of them.. and they are all filled to the gills with non-violent offenders. That is a HUGE burden on a governments economy... . time to re-adjust the common view on Marijuana in general.

Free Adam may confirm some prejudices for him...

GH lounge is quite smart of decor, with the fish and all, conspicuous wealth often impresses the right of wing.

100% on the money... this kid would enjoy life more if he could handle the responsibility of thinking for himself. needs to take off the blinders and see the bigger picture.

Amnesia just around the corner from Grey Area is very well appointed but only if they finally closed the red lights down on the next street!

Dampkring in the middle of a busy shopping area also used in a famous movie may impress him. However IMHO most people with pre concieved notions about an issue look for a way to confirm their beliefs. Your plan may well backfire no matter how carefully orchestrated.

An truly open mind is a hard thing to find. :|

Very friendly service, never too busy, never a tourist in sight, if it's not too cold/wet you can sit outside on the Prinsengracht and watch the world go by. I especially love it in the mornings when it's really quiet and you can sit outside with a coffee and a hash pipe before taking a stroll through the Jordaan and stopping for breakfast. One of the more civilised ways to spend an Amsterdam morning.
+1

Oh fucking hell - I've only just seen this. 11 year-old clip, and this c*** has been my accountant for 2 years (he works in Bideford in Devon).

Not as of tomorrow morning he's not.
