After many people flopping at the last minute, looks like im coming to amsterdam by myself in a couple weeks, probably only for a couple of days 17th-19th maybe.
Ive been to Amsterdam a couple of time, and have my usual haunts, all i need to do is find a cheapish hotel.
But is a solo trip as bad as it sounds? I dont particulary want to be in coffeeshops all day on my tod laughing to myself reading the Alan Partridge autobiography for example, are people more akin to just start conversation if they see you are by yourself?
I have no idea. In the end i know i will have a good time while i am there. Not so much getting there (12 hour coach journey there and back) But ive never travelled overseas by myself and you know what us brits are like in this country, scared of strangers etc. I just hope its more 'open' in Dam.

As you said , 'you'll have a good time'...offer a joint to another person, ask what they are smoking that smells so good, check for/setup T&Ts (Gapie will be there and you can't go wrong with that man around, he know fucking everybody) you won't be sitting alone for long... sometimes when I was there solo I was soooooooo fried I couldn't have talked to anyone if I had wanted to....
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
If I don't see you no more in this world, I'll meet you on the next one.

I find traveling to AMS with friends to be a mixed bag. If you're with someone(s) who lack an adventurous spirit or a sense of courtesy while traveling abroad it can be a real drag and you're better off traving solo. Honest respectful curiosity wherever you go will open many doors. I'm still sorting through all the emails, etc. of folks I "discovered" when I was there solo in Nov. Granted, there was a Cannabis Cup going on.

Welcome to the forum.
When you have firm dates for your Amsterdam trip, get them to me.
I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.
You can see who else may be in town and any Toke & Talks that are planned.
Enjoy

Arkan-
In addition to scheduling/meeting for TnTs there's also the live mini-chat section on the forum homepage for spontaneous possibilities.

I am going to Amsterdam alone for the second time from 21st-24th. You will end up talking to someone while you are there, you won't be alone for long if you don't want to be.
I am happy to meet up if you are there while I am there and I am sure others will be happy to meet too.

Just a chick counting the days to her next trip...
