after checking in and gathering a few needed things from albert heijn we are on our way to make a small crawl ..keep in mind i was traveling with my wife and best mate both non smokers (ex smokers) so i was hoping for the best ....
first stop barneys lounge my first ever in a barneys and only because i was really curious about the tangerine dream my mate came in with me because he wanted to buy me some weed ...i ask for 2 grams off the tangerine dream and get it showed without asking for it and i see lovely buds with great smell the budtender asks to see if i confirm my order which i really liked.... my mate picked a gram of the laughing buddha which was an alright smoke but more of an 8 euro smoke than a 12 euro smoke....shame on us on the last day of the trip said he liked barneys best and went and bought a t shirt
after barneys we headed over to rokereij 3 small place weird vibe my first also budtender was serving downstairs i get two grams (budtender weight out 2,3 ) amg which wasnt nearly as good as ppls said it was and 3 grams top sahara which was a really dry blonde maroc with a nice and earthy taste .from there we stroll on to dampkring because i wanted to get there new years riffman special ...i got the last half gram of sensiboulle(spelling) and a gram of habibi and a gram of the other new years special which name has slipped my mind sorry the sensi was dark and squidgy and a really nice smoke the other two really high grade maroc more on the lighter side but very tasty ..my mate bought a gram of cerez hilton it was claimed as 9 month cured and outstanding smoking experience and it was utter shit to be honest it had a light lime taste with pretty much no fx ....
the budtender was nice and friendly it was the same guy as in the layover from anthony bourdain...from there we move on to kadinsky for some trans himalyan small place pretty rammed with wasted youngsters scored and left a decent black intense taste chatty high one last stop before its time to munch out basjoes my wife and my mate wait outside as i walk in james is sitting at the counter enjoying a spliff as he sees me walking in ( i only ben there once before) he smiles walks gets up and greets me and asks how i am doing what i have ben doing etc i was amazed that he remembered me and felt very welcome i ordered a gram of og18 and a gram creme special the og was out he suggested the bas special so i went with that ,,,the creme special was the best dark hasch of the trip made me very chatty and my friend called joints i rolled with it true stinkers lol.....so now all geared up and slowly getting hungry we head down warmoestraat and make a pitstop at greenhouse effect bar a place i personally fell in love with years ago and if tony the crasy irak guy is bartending its always a crasy night ...a few beers and spliffs later a couple doors down we stop at burger bar and boy what a diffrence to the other once this place is i mean of course its new but its roomy the burger bar wood installment is trippy the staff was in an awesome mood and very very friendly there was one guy handling the cash and orders two where cooking and one was waiting ....so no handling meat cash and wahtevr with the same gloves...i am a cook and earn my daily cash with that so i had an eye on it
they even have an extended menue compared to the others with steak chicken spareirbs i went for the new york cheese steak ,,,it wa s an ok sandwhich id say but nothing compared to an real cheese steak from home!my mate had the angus beef and loved it! after that we called day one done and headed back to the house boat!day 2 :
the weather for the whole trip was supposed to be a mess with big winds and storm and loads of rain we had gotten spared on night one but we didnt on day two.
my mate and my wife went to the historic museum of amsterdam where they interactively teach you the compelte history of amsterdam from the first pole in the ground up on today ..they had a blast so it must be good...while they where checking that out i was stumbling through the storm trying to find grey area and once i had found it there was a line outside and i didnt feel like waiting in the rain so i moved on in the look of anyday got briefly lost again stumbled by some not so nice prostetutes and found anyday ...very nice and informativ budlady i get two grams reserva x dark good maroc a gram rootang valley hasch for 22 euro it said 100% pure handrubbed sativa and also some oaxacon nectar for 16.50 with the same sativa label and both where really sadly nothing to write home about neither on taste or fx
i also bought a gram of quaze which looked horrible but was a nice smoke which gave u nice visible fx and got u smashed for a nice while. i had like a n hour to kill until we met up again so i decided to head of to nes cafe early which is where we where supposed to meet only to find it closed and as it was raining young dogs i looked around in the neighbourhood for a smoker friendly place with beer and stumbled upon ricks cafe ordered a beer walked upstairs to be pleasantly suprised by punk rock music a pinball machine a nice waitress and and all in all oldschool kinda youth centrum feeling so i chilled there for a while happy to have found that gem looking out the window at all the youngsters over the channel freqeunting greenhouse centrum across is the street is a three storage asian place which got me tempted and yes i fell for mass instead of class because once my wife and mate made it to ricks cafe we decided to head over to grab diner there but pretty much only because it was fucking raining like a motherfucker... across the street from ricks cafe on the other side of the channel is the hotel the grand and they have a boat which broke lose during the storm and was riding the channel without pilot all the little hotel monkey in there nice suites came out and tried to save it and drag it back to its spot one of the guys almost fel in entertaining for a good twenty minutes stuff you only see in amsterdam right hahah!we had the rijstafel at the asian place which was decent but nothing really to write home about after that due to weather we caled it a day and went back to houseboat where the owner entertained us with stories about houseboats mdma speed and cocaine in and export and some of his homosexual backpacktravels through australia ....a usual night on a houseboat somewhere in amsterdam i guess lol.
day 3 the big one :
the night earlier i thought the owner of the houseboat was fucking with me when he said that at 11 the next morning there will be two cops coming to the houseboat to investigate out of the kitchen window about a place across the street..since he was making loads of jokes i didnt really believe that he had even asked not to smoke weed around that time he had a sign of houserules up which he showed us when we arrieved it said stuff like no alcohol no drugs no this and that really uptight and once we read it and where like kinda schocked about the tight rules he looked at us and laughed and said now forget all of that and have the time of youre lifes ....lets just say i had a early morning smoke and was suprised by two cops walking in on me lol gladly they didnt seem to care and just moved on to the kitchen STILL all in all that was some weird shit
we head out to the flower market and make a stop at the kaaskelder and buy smoked and other cheeses and my mate buys some herbal xtc or speed whatever it was next door at the mushroom .... the guy told him it is legal and germany and he can travel with it so he was happy. next stop was lunchcafe studio 2 where we have fresh presse oj omlette english brekkie and apple pancakes all delicious from there we stroll on to the jordaan area and make a quick stop at paradox where i space to buy spacecakes and have some super silver haze and ko kush instead the ko kush was a nice smoke great taste the ssh only made me cough and didnt do much..next stop the electric ladyland museum now i dont want to give away to much of what goes on there but i can assure every stoner on this planet and even not stoner that its well worth the 5 euro entrance we got a personal really exciting tour that took over an hour in a friend like enviroment so if you are down there or have ben definatly go there!5 euros well spent!google it!
the next stop was puccinis where the misses and mate picked up several goodies now i am personally not that hot on chocolate but my wife sad it was outstanding! my mate was getting a little nervous as he hadnt had a drink all day yet (never go with a drunk ) so on our way to the wildeman we pass a small store that seemed to be specialisedin american goods like mac n cheese lucky charms sodas and so on...we gathered some chocolate lucky charms peanut butter mnms hawaian punch mountain dew code red all the stuff i cant get in germany and miss from home .at the wildeman we tried an assortmend of beers of the tap and than moved on to cafe hefer which have my favorite dutch beer lindeboom on tap unfortunatly cafe hefer is not smoker friendly so after a few lindebooms we moved on to ricks cafe to enjoy some more beers and some punkrock with pinball ....as it was getting dark it started to rain again and we where getting hungry so we look on our notes and maps to figure out a decent close by place to eat ...i suggest cafe de klos as i never ben but only had great reviews and the street its on was kinda close by so we agree and start walking as we enter street the street number is 297 on my notes cafe de klos is on 22 or so so we are on the right street but on the very other end of it
so off we go heads down dripping from the rain wadding trhough puddles through what felt like an never ending street...at some point i look up to see the warming sign cafe de klos ....we walk in its filled no empty seat i waiter comes up and asks what we want i say diner for three he says there 12 ppls infront of you the wait will be around 30 minutes ...my mate was like 30 minutes lets leave i was trying to convince him that on a tuesday night at a place like this at 9.30 at night twelve ppls infront of us with no advertising from the outside that they even serve food is a good thing ...than the waiter came and said we have a bar over the street wher eu can wait have a drink and a starter until your table is ready...which calmed my m ate and we wander over....drink and starter 20 minutes later our table is ready a window seat we order the ribs a steak and the smoked chicken and it was fucking outstanding and by far the best food of the trip! fed and hapy we wander home!day 4 :
we start the day at burger bar on warmoestraat with lunch the bottom line about burger bar is its decent but over rated and way to prizey next time i will have to try burgermeester to see what they have! my wife and mate take off tto go the the place the queen lives on damrak and i head over to nes cafe for a toke n talk with gapie and some others i was there early so nes was still closed i just waited for about ten minutes and the doors where opening up i walk in and order a coke and wait for gapie i see there is an pc with internet for free use which i check my bank acount email and acd forum with i see that silentlyscreaming who set up the toke n talk wont make it because his flight is delayed due to the storm! shortly after that gapie shows up with two other blokes ...he calles over another guy who happened to be dave the guy who runs the place we start talking and toking away it appears it was special sale day at hugos and gapie and his mates have done a little crawl and they where stacked with some nice goodies from several places we smoked some nice bio haze from hugos and some outstanding pineapple haze which i dont know where it was from ...soon gapies mate was buying a round of drinks for everyone so i had another coke at some point dave joined us and i asked him about the story behind them not beeing a coffeeshop anymore and other stuff at some point my mate and wife popped in and dave was rolling a joint and telling my wife he has a hole in the roof which he had covered with something but that flew away in the storm and he cant find it and he sent some guy to the store to buy some stuff to fix it and that he isnt looking forward to beeing on the roof in the storm and that he needs a joint for that my wife asked my quietly not knowing he is the owner of the place why he is telling he all that haha than dave asked us if we want a drink of course the first thought is sure ill order another drink since we all are hanging out here and using up youre space etc (little did i know) my mate had ordered a beer when he had come in and had paid for it aswell dave came back with drink and gapies friends where heading out and we where gonna leave shortly after that to so i ask what i owe dave for the beer and he said its all good and he even gave my mate his 3 euros for his already paid beer back which is just outstanding keep in mind it was my first time there and all i ordered and paid for was one coke and he invited us all for drinks and even gave money back thats just like wow! definatly a big thing and i will return many many many times from now on to nes cafe!
after that we got some wok to walk some chocomel and pffertjes from alber heijn to take home and the next morning we where on our way back home...
