African Genetics

Post by Prestoned »

I was looking at Afropips for some African genetics in seed form, but the ones I want are no longer available. I have found a few other seed companies that have/claim African genetics. The first is Malberry (apparently sell seeds by the kilo to breeders (wholesale)) and also available at another site in smaller, more normal size packs (10s and 12s).

The second is Holy Smoke Seeds, which sell only regular sized packs (10s and 12s).

Does anyone know if these are the same company? The pictures for the Malawi Gold and such are the exact same images.

Does anyone have any more info on these companies? If not how about other African seed suppliers?

I have seen Seedsman has African Buzz and a few other African sativas, anyone have experience with these?

Many thanks

:)

Check out Ace Seeds...
http://www.aceseeds.org/englishstart.html
http://www.icmag.com/ic/forumdisplay.php?f=65554
here's a description of their Congo...
Bangi X ( Congo #3 / Chitral ) 75% Sativa / 25 % Indica
This delicious African hybrid combines the Bangi Congo which is a rare African landrace almost extinct with fast flowering and small height, the Congo #3 which is another electric Congolese with strong energetic high, and a bit of Chitral Indica to reduce its height and final flowering.

btw, I believe Holy Smoke is just reselling the Malberrys

Cheers, Pre.
I ordered a 10-pack of Ace's Orient Express (Vietnam Black x Chinese Yunnan) regular, plus two more single regular "souvenirs" from H@rbi@s Headshop in order to qualify for a freebies deal.
The order arrived promptly, but the two singles were listed as Fem on their little zip-lock, and the 10-pack had been opened (it's breeder pack date was Sept. 2010) and there was 15 seeds in there instead of the 10. Are they regular? Who knows. And I won't know until I can launch them in the summer.

Many breeders will also sell direct. Cannabiogen being one...
http://www.cannabiogen.com/h.php?lang=En
...and that's what I had to do to get 10 reg of their Taskenti IBL (an Uzbeki indica), since the middle-men were sold out (e.g., the 'tude). And when the 'tude did have what I wanted (Cannabiogen's Panama) they sent me Canna's Panama DC (Panama x Tom Hill's Deep Chunk) instead.

In summary, this was meant to provide a bit more breeder info, as well as a little buyer-beware real world experience.

Big time internet searching session has lead me to want...

(Ace Seeds)
Chinese Yunannan
Congo
Guatemala Sativa?
Zamaldeic?
Nepalese Jam
Orient Express and/or Vietnam Black x Thai
Bangi Haze
Panama
Malawi
Pakistan Chitral Kush

(Cannabiogen)
Taskenti

(Seedsman)
African Buzz
Hash Passion

(Real Seed Company)
Lebanese
Nepalese
Golden Triangle Akha

Looks like we got some similar tastes :)

Now just to find who has what for sale.

I prefer Seedsman over Attitude at the moment. Have never had a problem with Attitude, only done 2 orders (both relativley large, I brought everything I wanted from them at the time!). Attitudes freebies are always femminized, so I usually just give them away to people, but Seedsmans have been regular. Big positive for me, plus the discount better at Seedsman.

Sigh... if only Seedsman shipped to my part of the world. :| I guess you noticed what the flowering times were for some of those landrace sats, and after harvest they need an almost equal length of time for a proper cure. Keep us posted with what you end up getting, and how your grow goes (if not here then maybe at a more grower-oriented forum).

I leave for a three-week AMS visit 17 weeks from today and I've got a bunch of stuff to flower out before I go. Upon return in June I can then begin a proper extended veg, clone, and mom/male-finding growapalooza with Ace, Cannabio, DJ Short, Mosca, and Sannie souvenirs (I try to avoid flowering in the summer to travel more and deal with hps heat stress issues less).

happy shopping!

Im really not bothered about flowering times. I think the longest I can condone is an 18 weeker. Anything more is just too long. This room is specifically more genetic testing/tasting. I am a nightmare for curing weed. I have always maintainted that the difference can be noticed with a correct cure of several months and that on 10 weeks (ish) strains. So just over a 4 month cure will be possible.

At the moment there is

(Dutch Passion)
Power Plant
Skunk #1

(Flying Dutchmen)
The Pure
Afghanica
Dutchmans Royal Orange

(Sensi Seeds)
Sensi Skunk
Super Skunk
Skunk #1
Afghani #1

(Mr Nice)
Nordle

Waiting to go in next are

(Soma Seeds)
Amnesia Haze

(Dutch Passion)
White Widow
Mazar

(Seedsman)
Sleestack x Skunk

(Nirvana (6+ years old from a UKWEED DVD))
White Widow

(Reeferman Seeds)
Pink Kush (F4) (Second Packet)

(Serious Seeds)
Bubblegum

(MR Nice)
Shark Shock
Shit
Medicine Man
Black Widow
Super Silver Haze

Gonna be a long but fun year I think. Least I will have plenty of types to last upto 18 weeks flowering and another 18 to cure!

I'm going to start with one just to get the feel. If you use the same size curing jars, stuff them all the same way, with the same stuff, you might be able to get away with using just one- just extrapolate what the one jar's reading is across the other similarly filled ones.

It is a bit of a project management/critical path exercise.
I may do the male-finding and pollen gathering/storing first, possibly in the summer, then paint it on selected buds when I eventually get around to flowering the ladies out in the fall. Here's just one of many pollen collecting/storing links...
