Well the coffee shops in Amsterdam are certainly concerned about it even if you're not. When in Grey Area on 2nd January this year the guys there said the new law would be in effect in 2013.

One appears to be from the Sydney Morning Herald, the other from the Cannabis Times (could be wrong, just did a quick google search).
