I actually disagree with your assessment for when I return to London at the end of June/beginning of July. While I don't think the city will be empty, by any means, I think with the Olympics coming at the end of July it will be far less crowded when I am there than it would usually be at that time, as lots of tourists will have planned their trips to coincide with the games. It is, after all, over three weeks from when I leave until the Olympics start, so the timing is close but not that close!
I do, however, agree that it is a shame we will miss crossing paths by one day, though really it's more like two, as I expect my arrival day will consist of a buy-and-fly or two followed by 12-15 hours of sleep!
