The Celebration Of Freedom.... 13th - 19th Feb.

Post by Old School Smoker »

Evening all,

I have clearly been away from events for far too long, (weed-pass in the southern provinces this year, maybe!, the old bill turning over the cup, Basjoes changing hands to name but a few!) I wonder what else I have missed.
I have just got home after being on a 3 month posting to my employer's new office in the land of absolute prohibition... Otherwise known as Singapore!
That added to fact that my narrow minded employer has added this fine site to their list of 'proscribed' websites.
(quote from a letter issued by our HR dept.) "Access to any proscribed website using any company IT equipment or network will be fully investigated. Any member of staff or management, regardless of grade, found to be in breach of these instructions will be subject to the company disciplinary process. This may lead to dismissal, financial penalty, civil or criminal proceedings".... Words fail me!!!!!
In celebration of my return to the 'real' world the wife and I will be in the country 13-19th and will be in town at least 3 days that week and certainly on the 17th as its a rather special birthday, the one that allows me to stick two fingers up at my employer and say "I'm off, pay me my pension now!" (Which officially happens at 17.00 GMT on the 17th)
Now, remembering that I won't have touched any weed for the better part of 4 months if any of you good people find this 'poor old bloke' happily passed out in the corner of a coffee shop with contented smile on his face it may well be me.... Celebrating my freedom..... my way!

Peace,
Old School.

You have been posted on the February Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... le&u=38214

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Thank you kind sir,
I must admit the whole retirement thing still feels a bit unreal at the moment. Having worked for the same employer for the last 17 years, well 16 years for a very successful and friendly family owned company, which was unfortunately bought out by an investment fund last year. Since then under the new management, who are quite frankly nothing but a bunch of money grabbing arse-holes that know absolutely nothing about the business the are attempting to screw every last penny out of!
The final straw was being sent to Singapore in November with a weeks notice! Not only that, but then be told, once I had arrived, if I wanted to come home to see the wife and family for Christmas, the flights would be at my own expense and the time would have to come from annual leave!
So when the company offered early retirement to selected senior management aged 59 to 64.... Lets just say the only question I had was.... Were do I sign??!!!
Anyway, enough of my life history... Roll on Feb. my good lady and I are looking forward to being back in the country we both call our second home (She is an Eindhoven girl after all!) and do some serious catching up with lost time in some of Amsterdam's finest establishments!

Peace,
Old School.
