I visited in Oct 2010. going again in march, but last time i went it was pretty bad for black guys comin and askin if we wanted drugs.(NO RACIAL) first experience was literally 5 minutes after leaving the train, some dude saw us with all our bags and stuff and must of thought 'easy targets' as we obviously looked like newbies to amsterdam;which we were. However, he hadn't witnessed the most stressful 15 hour journey of us three amigo's as we had missed our flight at luton at 5pm, had to wait for a lift to gatwick which arrived at 1am, pay for new flights and then stay up all night until 8am the next day to catch the new flight, travel to schipol, then to central. Basically we were a force that no skaghead should fuck with at that precise moment. So he was greeted with a grumpY, tired and unpleasant 'FUCK OFF MATE'.

There was quite a few when I was there 12-16th January. But best advice is don't stop or look at them and just carry on walking. I wonder if its real coke anyways

Also i dont know if anyone else has had this experience but whenever we would toke up in public, mainly around the RLD, we had a load of people come up and ask for tokes and stuff. Obviously the hygenic thing to do is to say no due to mouth aids, but we let a couple of guys take tokes, but they would cane about half of it and hand it back to you! So learn the lesson, dont let strange black men toke on your weed in the red light district!

The last time i was there was September 2010, and my friend bought a bit while we had stopped in the RLD during a canal cruise. So when we got back in the boat, he headed to the loo. When he walked out, he had a look of grief about him, and quite rightly so. He had bought a tiny stone lol. The most expensive stone I've ever saw lol. Later on walking past the many Bulldogs i saw about 4 rasta looking guys and one was offering coke. So i asked for a try before buy, and he said sure and opened up a wrap and said "dab on ma man". So i did. It numbed my mouth a little, and had a bit of the taste, so i bought a gram for 50Euro. We took it and it gave us a little buzz, but nothing worth 50Euro.

I heard about this drunk tramp that follows you down the street asking for money before I left and funny enough I saw him blank him off carry on walking I could hear he walking behind me muttering about tourist then after 1 min walk three Americans walk past me and he follow them begging.

One guy ask for a toke while I was having my night time joint across the bridge at the Ibis hotel but soon as I said mate last joint on me he was quite polite and carry on walking. no one else ask me again as it be came a habit of me smoking joints down the road from my hotel before heading in.

guess I never check who was offering me coke I just carry on walking suppose there are some ok dealers and what's up with people selling advice on the street that was a new one on me.

I agree, since going with a girl, and walking around as a couple the offers are not as frequent as when walking alone.

However, they're just looking for a quick bit of coin in anyway, and they'll do a lot to get it.

What I mean is, they're looking for somebody who has a look on their face indicating a shred of temptation to buy drugs.

Then they'll jump on it.

The same goes for beggars.

I find completely ignoring them, or just shaking your head with a blunt face does enough.

When I was first starting going to Amsterdam, I was 16, it was in 2003 and the streets were lined with allsorts of odd people, bullies and street nuisances, and I was very scared.

Now, I know what they're about, and that's just getting money, and if you show them that they are getting absolutely nothing off you, they'll soon fuck off and try some one else.
