Is it worth visiting Haarlem?
Is it worth visiting Haarlem?
Is the quality of the weed better as it is more accustomed to locals? Are the willie wortel chain of coffeeshops still open there (sativa, indica and sensimilla?) and do they have anything special on the menu at the moment? Any recommendations?
I want to venture out of the Dam center and try and find some hidden gems in the less common areas such as 'de pijp', in hope that the weed will be of a better quality. I find Amsterdam can be hit and miss a lot of the time with the touristy coffeeshops.

The coffeeshops in Haarlem are good, just make sure you bring a map of where the coffeeshops are though. I dont recall it being much cheaper (apart from the tourist traps that charge 12+ Euros for the lowest strain). The menus are typically smaller, but the quality is just as good.
The coffeeshops are usually quieter, with less tourists (like me), which I like. I did remember getting normal sized cans of coke instead of the smaller bottles served in Dam.

All weed aside (blasphemy!
), Haarlem is most definitely worth a visit.

YES!

Well worth the 7,20 euro round trip train fare.
My favorite shop in Haarlem is Birdy. The WW shops have lost a little luster. Sativa, near the train station,
replaced their snack bar with vending machines and lost a lot of gezzelig in the process. Indica, across
from the Adrian is still nice. Sensimilla, in the south, is the biggest of the bunch.
With 17 shops there is bound to be something to your liking.
Enjoy

Royal jelly from Birdys is supposed to be very nice.

This is tempting. Never gotten out to Harlaam before. What's it like to stay there? Cheaper than Amsterdam?
How much did you produce?
Re: Is it worth visiting Haarlem?
Yes, but not if you're only concerned about saving a couple of euros.

I was in Hasrlem yesterday in Indica, and its still the most comfiest, social coffeeshop ever.
Amnesia Haze, stinky Cheese and some eautiful miroccan hash recommended by Nol.
Haarlem is possibly the most gorgeous town in NL, I have more or less stopped visiting Adam for good weed now.

Might give it a try next trip. Would like a change from AMS. Maybe stay in Haarlem and do a couple of day trips to AMS. Any good smoking hotels near the best coffeeshops?BlueStarHaze wrote:I was in Hasrlem yesterday in Indica, and its still the most comfiest, social coffeeshop ever.

Hmm yea! haarlem is a super little place,, & with a history to match amsterdam! the easiest coffeeshop for me is the "ww indica" thats near the rail station! & coffeeshop empire is only about a 10 minute walk up the road also,KD.
Re: Is it worth visiting Haarlem?
Definitely worth a visit - 15 minutes by train from Centraal and a much nicer vibe than Central Amsterdam, especially at night.
Apart from the various coffeeshops (Birdy, WW X3 etc), try Kaashuis Tromp for the best Gouda, have frites from the great shop just off the square then an ice cream from opposite.
I love it.
