Mmm- noted about the Royal Solo. (I like that shop a lot and I'm always looking for stoney things.)

   That statue.

I believe that's how all early stoner chicks' bushes looked. I learned that in a museum somewhere...

geeks: Is there any other shop in/near the Centrum with half the class of Solo? I am thinking in terms of ambiance ... Yes, get the Royal Solo, but also get Bullwackie's G-13 if you want to get stoned the right way. While you're at it, head to Koffie en Dromen in Den Haag for some Masterkush. More on that later :)

Judo: I used to include budshots in my travelogues. I stopped when I realized appearance isn't indicative of the quality of a sample's effect. Perhaps I should continue supplying pics just to prove my point!

Organic Bubblegum (Cremers, Den Haag, €11/g) - A warm, introverting buzz. The vibe is bittersweet, sepia-toned. My instinct was to open a book or reflect. Very pleasant in that it holds one's thoughts still. Like other Bubblegums I've tried, its has an effect which rolls off without a letdown.

Burns well.

Chocolope-Skunkberry (Dizzy Duck, Den Haag, €10/g) - A mild high that is conducive to conversation. Thoughts are nicely thethered down. Enhances TV viewing.

Correct me if I'm wrong: The term Chocolope is another way of saying 'excessively mild sativa.'

Coincidentally, I just picked up a few grams of this as my grower does this strain frequently. It's definitely not the strongest sativa, but that smooth flavor is pretty nice. I know some here don't like it, but everyone whom I've smoked with remarks on the nice taste. I like it.

geoffk: I need to admit to myself and everyone reading this that I have no business smoking Chocolope. First, sativas usually don't have a big effect on me. Second, I can almost say I can't taste a damn thing when I smoke pot.

Yeah, chocolope doesn't do much for me either, except taste nice, which isn't quite enough to recommend a strain for me. Still really enjoying the report- Thanks quicky!

Masterkush (Koffie en Dromen, Den Haag, €10/g) - Duke and I smoked the Masterkush once we got back to the hotel. Minutes passed. Duke was sitting at the desk, drinking wine and talking about something, when everything suddenly changed. I had to interrupt him. I said, "I was following what you were saying but just now I lost the whole idea. I'm sorry. I am really fucked up. This shit is strong."

I started laughing. It was due to embarrassment at first, but the laughs kept coming; the situation had become genuinely funny. At this point Duke was laughing, too. I think we continued in this state for about ten minutes. And I hadn't experienced a pot-induced laugh attack in ... 25 years? Duke said, "God. This is strong." I remember heading to the bathroom to pee and thinking: Whoa.

More time passed. Duke put it into words first. "Wow. It's like everything seems clear now." The stone had lifted after a half an hour of wrestling with this humongous stony ape. That's when we decided to smoke more. I put my headphones on his head and forced him to listen to some Fela Kuti. I started watching some random German program on TV. After a while, Duke started giggling; I thought he was laughing at me watching some random German program. I was like, "Dude, what's so funny?" He said, "Nothing. This music is so good I just had to laugh."

White Widow (The Game, Delft, €8.60) - Picture this: You are sitting in Coffeeshop The Game. You feel unnerved because fellow patrons are moving on the periphery of your vision. You believe you may be on the verge of a panic attack.

To settle your mind, you focus your mind on the art, a vinyl banner wrapped around the interior of the shop. It depicts star-clouded nebulas … the silhouette of surfers on a beach at sunset … and, at the center of it all, number 23 Michael Jordan dunking a basketball. Your friend Duke is talking ceaselessly about some advanced topic. You nod – to make him believe you’re listening, but really to reassure yourself that you’re not about to freak out.

That, my friends, is what it’s like smoking White Widow at The Game.

After two cups of tea I informed Duke I was ready to get up. We stepped out into the light. The White Widow was still in effect, but it had become manageable. We visited the Nieuwe Kerk, then the Oude Kerk. I admired the church windows with a quiet fascination.

Duke thought it was, “yeah, pretty strong.” I thought it was an assault broadcast on all frequencies of the cannabinoid spectrum. The shit hit me hard in several areas of mental processing. It eased off after 90 minutes or so, but stayed on in the form of skewed thoughts for hours after.

This is the stuff you (should) smoke in the safety of your hotel room, with a bottle of wine handy to curb thoughts. Everyone should do this at least once to know what it's like. It is so strong.

Coffeeshop Loft is taking Wietpas seriously enough to leave these flyers out on the counter:
