South by Southwest
Re: South by Southwest
The coffeeshops:
Any Day - I like to check out their outdoor Basque stuff. The vibe of the shop is touristy, though. I've never felt the urge to sit down and smoke here.
Bullwackie - Ambiance of a seedy pub. Enjoyed a steady buy-and-fly clientele on the Friday afternoon I stopped in. Their G-13 justifies any lack of presentation.
Cremers, Den Haag - Liked the weed but wasn't crazy about it's expansive, murky interior. Locals slouched as football matches flashed across large screens: you know, the standard coffeeshop experience. Would've been better sitting in the booths by the windows.
Dizzy Duck, Den Haag - Popular with the locals. Clearly operated by the same people who own Het Binnenhof in Zwolle; you can tell by the blackboard-style menu with the descriptions and strains worthy of Grey Area. All you connoisseurs who have never been to Het Binnenhof or Dizzy Duck -- shame on you.
The Game, Delft - I believe the counterperson was the proprietor. He was calm, respectful and detached, in the finest Dutch manner. Euro-plastic interior. The White Widow kicked me in the teeth.
Homegrown Fantasy - They put effort into their Dutch outdoor varieties. That's what brings me back.
Jabba - Can't say the place left an impression, though the clerk was friendly enough. I got what I came for and left. Liked the Binnen.
De Kade - Cheery. Patrons were actually reaching out, participating in a social moment. The counterperson was such a good host. Pub-like. Seriously, how many coffeeshops are convivial?
Koffie en Dromen, Den Haag - Home of the outstanding Masterkush. Didn't smoke here, but had a long conversation with a local, a true, unapologetic individual. Will be back, Wietpas permitting.
De Kroon - Brusk counterperson. When I stopped in the cave-like smoking area was populated by a solitary man who chatted with Mr. Grumpy. Decent weed from what I could tell.
Solo - With the possible exception of Voyagers, Solo is the only shop in the Centrum I want to sit down and smoke in. The counterperson was a good human, and she knew her wares. I like the minimal decor and the windows. Appreciated the quiet atmosphere. Appreciated the Royal Solo.

You are a terrific writer. Your descriptions are very evocative and really echo my own experiences with good dope. Particularly about music
I'd also echo your experiences about not getting those laugh attacks much any more though
Still, hoping to get some this coming weekend

Re: South by Southwest
Thanks for the report quiky, I'd appreciate very much if you could share some other deh haag experiences if you have as I'm going to spend a day in there this summer.
Re: South by Southwest
Sorry about taking so long to post a response. It took me a while to formulate thoughts I'd be comfortable sharing.
Colino: Den Haag is a pretty city with a lot of good coffeeshops. Delft is a landmark, a place that speaks to what's special about human civilization.
If I were you, I'd do what we did ... Walk around Den Haag to pick up smoke. You'll see a lot of the city on the way. Then get on a train to Delft. You'll spend 16 minutes in transit. Smoke the easy stuff and go out to dinner. (People in Delft speak English better than I do. Getting fed is not a problem.) Smoke the Masterkush from Koffie en Dromen *after* you've paid the bill. Map out your route back to the hotel in advance :)
geoffk, Cisco: Thank you for wading through all the words. I'm glad you could parse through my idiosyncrasies and get some information out of the report.
MK101: The moment between inhalation and result is precious. This interval is what makes the trip special. You light up, and you know you will experience an emotion or a thought that is new, but you can never anticipate what it will be. I am probably projecting, but I think you understand.
Ah, the giggles. The Masterkush did for me, but so did Bullwackie's G-13 -- and that was while I was on my own. There is still hope! :)

Thank you very much quicky. I've visited delft but as after den haag I'm visiting rotterdam and kinkerdijk I don't rule out the possibility to make a quick one to delft.quiky wrote:Sorry about taking so long to post a response. It took me a while to formulate thoughts I'd be comfortable sharing.

Colino: It's great to read about fellow ACDers getting out of Amsterdam. Wish I could join you on your trip to Kinderdijk :)
Sorry I'm not of more use on the subject of Den Haag. I don't think you can go wrong, though: The city's nice and the coffeeshops are bountiful.

Re: South by Southwest
Great report quiky! I read the report and was wondering if when you were in the Den hague , did you visit the MC Escher museum.. I highly recommend it for anyone. Doesnt take as long to get through as the other museums in amsterdam.
I need a miracle everyday
Re: South by Southwest
I always like visiting other places when in the NL and you are source of inspiration for it, thanks!quiky wrote:Colino: It's great to read about fellow ACDers getting out of Amsterdam. Wish I could join you on your trip to Kinderdijk

Re: South by Southwest
I'm sitting here in a motel (nowhere near the Netherlands), waiting for the pot brownie to kick in, so I thought I'd write a summation.
What is good pot? It's pot that instills positivity; it dampens rattling thought. It spawns novel thoughts. It plants the seed for creativity. With all that in mind ...
Special
G-13 (Bullwackie, Amsterdam, €12/g) - A simple stone that is just excellent. A lot of positivity. Lends pleasure to whatever you like to do.
Masterkush (Koffie en Dromen, Den Haag, €10/g) - Duke still mentions this stuff. He found it very strong. I did, too, for the first half an hour of the experience. A powerful stone. Produces laugh attacks. We both knew this pot was good.
God-this-is-strong
White Widow (The Game, Delft, €8.60) - Duke thought it was pretty strong. I thought it was searing. There's some anxiety here. I spent the first two hours of the experience coping with the buzz. From there it was a clear, solid stone. My first White Widow ... Too strong for daytime consumption. This marijuana is excellent if you are up for a psychological battle.
My cup of tea
Royal Solo (Solo, Amsterdam, €9/g) - Oh, yes. A thick blanket of a stone. You can manage on this one, but you won't forget that you are stoned.
Bio Binnen (Jabba, Amsterdam, €14/1.5g) - For me, a good sativa buzz is hard to come by, and Binnen has a good one. A thin effect infused with strange moments. A great choice for an active daytime high.
Organic Bubblegum (Cremers, Den Haag, €11/g) - Introverting. Lightly melancholy. Rolls off nicely.
Very good
Critical 47 (outdoor, Basque import, Any Day, Amsterdam, €12.50/g) - For me it went through phases: feely at first, then tweaky, thought-diverting, etc. If outdoor is too weak for you, smoke this.
Chocolope-Skunkberry (Dizzy Duck, Den Haag, €10/g) - Maybe I was a little too critical of this one. It is mild, but it does go well with television or (with company) a restaurant.
Good
Mexican Haze (De Kroon, Amsterdam, €9/g) - Gave me a headache at first. A decent balanced effect that, for me, started as a high and became cloudy over time.
Purple Power (outdoor, Homegrown Fantasy, Amsterdam, €7/g) - The first time I had it, it was a rocking, fun stone. This time it was a cool, clear stone. I think I prefer this one when I'm out walking.
Orange Bud (De Kade, Amsterdam, €8/g) - Dreamy and spacey. Not an up high for me. The shop itself is wonderful. I will be back there in August :)
