Can someone keep us updated on the funeral arrangements? I'd like to know where to send the flowers...
But seriously, this gives a stoner like me NO reason to bother to return. What once was a warm (well, reasonably so!), welcoming atmosphere has turned into a cold, racist environment and the "ban" on imported hash is merely the final, insulting nail in the coffin. I mean, I'm from the Northeast US; it costs a LOT to fly to Amsterdam and the euro hasn't been kind to us in over a decade! My wife and I (as many of you know) enjoy the moroccan owned coffeeshops the most and this will, essentially, put them out of business in one fell swoop! They RELY on their own at home contacts to supply their coffeeshops with TOP, I mean TOP notch hashes at around 8.5 euro a gram. Arabica, Babylon, Bronx, 136 ALL have magnificent house hash that tastes FAR better (in my opinion) than ANY ice hash and the coffeeshop environments are the most relaxing and welcoming providing us with the best coffee we've EVER had (136) or the most lovingly prepared, tastiest mint tea this side of Morocco (Bronx). So what will these shops do now, huh? Sell average bud to who... fellow Moroccans? They'll just smoke hasj at home, solid that they'll continue to import and sell on the streets but they'll gather and smoke together in small, private clubs that will no longer welcome the public.
So, we'll be left with what... white, Dutch owned shops? Ok, so the "traditionalist" Dutch are, once again, showing their true colors - brown shirts, black, red and white insignias.
And for those who think the ban won't mean anything - importing hash is already illegal, right? Well now they can shut the doors to any shop they catch selling imported hasj... so that means any shop that CAN'T prove providence of their product: SLAM, doors are shut!
My heart breaks for the good folks of Amsterdam (and throughout the Netherlands!); heaven knows I was still an American even when that dick-wad George W. was president so common sense dictates it ain't everyone... but unless you live there, live close by (UK, Germany etc.) I REALLY, REALLY wouldn't visit anymore. Go to Seattle, California, Detroit! Rhode Island JUST passed a law allowing for (3) dispensaries for cripes sake.
It was a great trip folks, I hope y'all enjoyed the ride! It certainly looks like the road is coming to an end...
