Bongs!! Help Please

Post by BigDanHaze »

Hey ACD community,
I am a long term mainly joint smoker looking to get my first "daily driver" bong.
So, the other day my wife takes me too the local Head shop where I am to finally pick up a nice bong on my birthday. This a total suprise and I am pretty stoned after smoking some local grown kush following a nice BBQ dinner.
Well, theres probably 150-200 glass bongs alone in the store (college town), with many brands of which I did no research. The clerk lets us know everything is like 20% or more off, yay!
I look at the Roors and am told $120 for what I believe were beaker bottomed "Lil Sista's"? and they had like 8-10 to choose from. After much consideration I enden up buying a Phire branded 52mm, 14" high, 7mm with a diffused down tube on Sale for $100.
I bought that piece because it was much heavier and felt more durable than the Roor. Man does it hit good and smooth love the way it hits but its kinda big and gangly for a daily driver.

So what do you guys suggest for a daily driver considering these points.
Budget $100-$120
wanna try straight tube
would prefer Ice catchers and diffused downtube.
Larger caliber like 29mm++

What other than Roor is a good brand but less expensive? EHLE?
Also anyone else got a Phire brand bong?

Hmmm... was hoping for more assistance, guess everyone here has 300-400 roors, illi's, customs etc...
Well, i did find Sunshine Family 12" bong and inline ashcatcher for $110 and EHLE bong and Ashcatcher for about $110.
BTW the Phire piece I bought is great hits real nice and seems super sturdy, just too big for a daily driver.

Roor's $100, not here or on EDIT, They have a 250ml Straight tube for 117.00 but its thin, 2.5mm..and all the Roors in that price range in the local headshops look fake
I gurantee your not finding a Zumo for anywhere near $100 here.
If they had zumo's for 140 here, this thread would be done.

Regarding Roor bongs at 100$- While there are some bongs from them in that price range, they are all in the thinner glass and not as durable as the more expensive ones. While there is certainly an element of paying for the label, the truth is that quality costs money.
A standard 35cm tall straight roor in 5mm glass goes for around 200 euros, with ice notches and a diffuser you can add another forty euros or so.
I make this point because I know for a fact that there are a huge number of counterfeit Roor products on sale, especially in the North American market and would suggest that anyone selling a little sister bong for the price you have indicated is probably not selling the genuine article.

I agree on all counts. I have collected glass (carnival mostly) for more than 20 years and know quality glass when I see it. What I see in most of my local headshops are fake roors and roor.us pieces. If I ordered Roor it would only be through EDIT who is an official distributor.
I'm just looking for a nice daily driver that will stand up to a knock or two. I will say though that since the big boon to the medical mj in Cali we do have alot of quality glass being made right here in the USA.
An example would be Soulshine family glass and Hvy glass, both places make bongs with a minimum of 5mm thick glass (roor's blue line is just 2.5mm) and have diffusers and Ice catches (roor thats a minimum of 40e extra) both places I can get a 12" bong for $120 shipped. Or I could get the Blue Line 250ml Roor for the same price from EDIT but only 2.5 mm thick and no ice catches or diffuser.
