Amsterdam Virgin

Hello, I am visiting Amsterdam for the first time on Friday 30th March and I can hardly contain my excitement! I've been smoking for 13 years but have had to make do with the odd nice bit of green in a mountain of shite soap bar. I'm looking forward to being able to sample some of the various types of hash and grass in Amsterdam. I have a couple of questions though,
1. What is the 'De Kade' coffee shop like for prices, quality and atmosphere as it's the nearest one to my hotel.
2. Is it acceptable to smoke in a coffee shop if you have bought your smoke from somewhere else.
3. I'm going with my girlfriend who doesn't smoke, where is the best place for space cake, etc.
Thanks in advance.

Spacecake : Paradox
The coffeeshop u mentioned ; never been there
my advice : paradox , voyagers , club media
Ok to smoke : Depends if your visiting a tourist shop or local shop . Some will make a big deal about it .
Paradox voyagers and club media wont mind

Welcome to the forum.
What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the
Whos In Town page.
You can see who else may be in town and any Toke & Talks that are planned.
ACD's review page for de Kade.
https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/Kade.html
This is one of the shops I have no menus for, so if you go, ask first and get a picture of their menu.
There are plenty of other menus at the link in my signature.
At most, not all, it is okay to hang if you at least purchase a drink or snack.
For the non smoker they have vapes and some shops verdampers, no smoke involved, just vapors.
Think of it as an aromatherapy kind of thing.
First timers get my S G Collins recommendation
I think a read of this will maximize your efficiency once you get there.
How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam.
Little things like the street signs being on the corner of the buildings can come in real handy.
Enjoy

Personally I've never had a problem with smoking other places stuff in other coffeeshops, just gotta at least buy a drink (and maybe have a look at the menu even if don't buy). Most of the coffeeshops have fairly decent aircon/airflow now, which is a bit of a pity as I really like proper smoke filled rooms, lol, but for someone who doesn't smoke don't forget there are also some bars that are smoker friendly eg:

Happy trip!

Thanks for the advice and warm welcome. I will be arriving at around 10pm on Friday 30th March (leaving Tuesday 3rd April) and will check into the hotel before going into town to purchase some goods. I am aware of the tobacco ban in the coffee shops and to be honest, I'm not that into bongs etc. It looks like I will have to smoke pure grass joints which are going to be a shock to the system, especially considering the quality of weed available. I would like to try cheese and also some Nepalese hash.
Also, where is the best place for live music?

Welcome to the forum!
Check out
https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewt ... =3&t=20413 for some advice regarding tobacco in the coffeeshops. Also, there are some coffeeshops that have a separate "smoking" section, where it is absolutely OK to use tobacco. Two that come to mind instantly are Dolphins (downstairs) and Rookies (on your right when you come in).
As for regular coffeeshops, this is what I said on the other thread:
In my experience it really is the "if we don't see it, we don't care" deal. However, there are exceptions. I wouldn't want to roll with tobacco in the upstairs part of of Dolphins, for example. They really seem to care. Plus, the couches downstairs are much more comfortable
But is most other coffeeshops I've never had a problem. I do make sure to keep the pack out of sight and I don't leave leftover cigarette filters in the ashtray and crumple up (or burn) the cigarette paper. Just don't make it obvious that you're handling tobacco and you should be fine in most places.
Also, when it comes to buying weed: As an Amsterdam newbie, don't buy weed anywhere named Bulldog or Grasshopper. Tourist traps. When you leave Amsterdam Centraal, try Voyagers as a first stop

Thanks from the advice Dude65,
I have heard of the bulldog and grasshopper and was going to give them a miss, I would much prefer to spend my hard earned weed money in a place that isn't full of numpties, stag parties etc. I think I will use the closest coffee shop to my hotel (de kade) for most of my smoking. After reading the 'your favourite 3 coffee shops thread' I have a few that I would like to go in, however, much will depend on my girlfriend!

Cheers for the heads up, I'm guessing the ambience is more female orientated, nice cushions etc

In regards to the female non smoker, perhaps a nice sativa during the early day from a Volcano bag? My non smoker had a 0.4g cake from Dampkring 2. A few bites....mmm well at least its a great tasting cake! ...5 minutes later she takes my advice and eats half of it....i get stoned, and time passes...about 90 minutes i think... we're walking back to the hotel, and she decides to eat the other half because now she "feels it" .... next morning she wasn't sure she would do it again....so for me.....after falling in love with the city...on my return trip...i think ill get her a nice full volcano bag! after breakfast! see more next time!!! Can't wait!!

Welcome to the forum.
You have been posted on the March and April
Whos In Town pages.
You can see who else may be in town during your stay.
Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.
By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.
https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... le&u=77667
I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.
You can do a little practice shopping on the
Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.
Enjoy

Well, three weeks until I arrive and I find myself day dreaming about what it's going to be like. I have been reading Lamont's well written travelogue and it has increased my anticipation ten fold. It in way, looking at the pictures of tasty looking buds and alluring bits of hash is like porn for stoners. I have been without a smoke for the past few days and could easily get a bit of solid which would do the trick but I know that it will be like smoking dog shit compared to what lies in wait for me. I am in a quandary, should I get a bit of soap bar to satisfy the desire to get stoned or tough it out until I get to Amsterdam?
