Did tangerine, lemon Peels.. a few hours later it is PERFECT! smells like citrus.. but does not really taste like it too much. it maintains the floral deep indica flavor it had.. Saving weed on bag at a time.. thanks ACD !!!!!

Thank you everyone for the guidance and sharing your experiences.
Brought me back to previous lives. I recall also using a slice of apple (or orange peel) to moisten the pot in the sandwich bag.
This was back when you needed a big fat joint per person to get reasonably high. Seeds & stems were part of your purchase.
BTW, do they still sell the 'gin' to rid the bag of seeds? Why? Sinsemilla (w/o seed) is redundant now. Finding a seed is almost like finding a pearl in an oyster.
Hope you can forgive but I've also used a spray bottle to moisten (& add weight) to some killer 'shake' I harvested that people wanted to buy from me.
I'll never forget the faces of 2 buyers I didn't know, (friends of a friend) who hesitated on the purchase, bought a gram, then came back wanting to buy all that I had.
Talk about being delighted AND paranoid at the same time.
In the last ten years or so, when I visit our home in Cali, I usually have a few grams leftover. (I still try to store as much in my lungs before I check in the airport.)
Leftover stays in the plastic bag it came in, then in a brown paper bag, then the freezer for anywhere from six months to who knows how long.
Seemed storage was never an issue because it's still potent when I get home, and it's only about 1-5 grams of quality weed.
Enough to keep me buzzing until I've connected with a supplier.
Because of MMJ availability, recently I've ended up with more going in the freezer. Call me greedy.
I've been blessed because I've never have had to smoke moldy pot. Wasn't aware of the mold issue until now (thanks). Supply ran out before mold set in haha.
Looks like a glass container & proper humidity is your friend. I would think a vacuum seal system may also be ideal.
The hydrometer may be unnecessary if I store in the freezer or vacuum. Am I mistaken? Thanks again.

No need for fruit n veg IMO. Just use a bit of damp sponge to rehydrate.

I've got a mini humidifier disc for rolling baccy, that's just a bit of sponge in a plastic case. Works perfectly. Costs less than £1.

Storage wise, I go for small glass mason jars stored inside another airtight container. Had em last 12 months+ THC will eventually degrade, but I've never had anything notably impotent! And good buds cured properly for that long taste amazing, which compensates for any slight loss of potency. Aged buds can turn sativas into indicas and indicas into straight up sedatives... but unless you're after a fresh, clean, clear headed high, it's possible to store buds for years.

So, I've never been a re-hydrator (maybe because I've always been a store in glass and smoke it really fast girl) and y'all have me curious.

How do you decide bud is too dry?

What is the problem with it being to dry?

Love this place. It's a happy place for a curious monkey.

touch it, it will feel too crispy

when you break it up to prepare a pipe or joint, it will turn to dust and be too fine for the pipe screen and too fine for a pure joint to burn properly

re-hydrating the bud with a little bit of moisture enables it to be broken down (or put into a grinder) into a nice texture for smoking

if bud has been dried too quickly and not cured properly, it will break up into dust, i have bought a couple of grams like this on two separate occasions from a (good) coffeeshop and been quite disappointed ... and btw re-hydration of such bud does not work, it has been ruined forever by being dried too quickly

“Curiouser and curiouser!” Cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English). “Now I’m opening out like the largest telescope that ever was! Good-bye, feet!” (for when she looked down at her feet they seemed to be almost out of sight, they were getting so far off). “Oh, my poor little feet, I wonder who will put on your shoes and stockings for you now, dears? I’m sure I shan’t be able! I shall be a great deal too far off to trouble myself about you: you must manage the best way you can—but I must be kind to them,” thought Alice, “or perhaps they won’t walk the way I want to go! Let me see. I’ll give them a new pair of boots every Christmas.”

dry herbs will smoke hot and fast, being too dry ruins the flavor and effects of the buds. Honestly once a bud is too dry its too late, you can put some moisture back in with apple or orange peel but it will never taste or be as potent as properly cured buds.

The best way to store buds is in glass jars or if for long term use then I put my herb into wax paper then into freezer bags, I have kept bud as long as 18 months using this method with no noticeable loss in potency or flavor.

If you're talking long-term storage, air-tight glass mason jars are the way to go. Take it one step further and use a "pump and seal" on those jars and you'll have some added protection. You want to make sure the buds are cured first, then just seal 'em up tight.

I have a couple jars right now that have anywhere from a few grams to around a quarter oz each, all sealed up for more than a year now. They are only opened when I'm going to smoke some of this "special occasion" weed. Pulled out some Vanilla Kush that was harvested back in 2/2011 just the other day, and the smell is just as intense if not more so, and the smoke is really smooth.

Sounds like you're one the wanker dealers that everyone here loathes!

The buyers were happy to make the purchase. They would have been disappointed if I didn't sell to them.
And that was eons ago. Funny thing about a commercial purchase, both buyer and seller should be happy.
One can always walk away with their money. I guess you can't forgive. And I've been burned also but I've let it go.
Peace.

Weed needs to be fully grown out, with high proportion of amber triches, then slowly dried over a week to snuff dry. Place in heavy duty freezer bag, approx half ounce per bag, twist neck and then suck out the air until a vacuum is formed. Place in second bag and do the same. Store in cool dark place and when you open each bag to take some out repeat vacuuming process. You can keep it for up to two years without and degeneration like this and is better than with kilner jars IMHO.

You must ensure it's snuff dry though. So it must be grown to maturity. If not, and it is cropped early, if it's snuff dried it tastes awful. If it's grown out and dried slowly it retains the taste, to the final bag. However, if it's not snuff dried it won't store for any lenth of time and you must get rid of any excess moisture or it will degrade rapidly in both taste and quality.

A lot of people cut their weed early, for high THC, or to cut and run, or lack of patience. That's fine if you like it like that, but it won't keep the same as if it's grown to full maturity.

But beware, when you dry to snuff dry you suddenly find big buds weigh fuck all. That's why a lot of places sell it damp, for increased weight. Once it's been left like this for a few days, any attempt to snuff dry it is a waste of time. As it is if you try this with early cut weed. Early cut weed needs to be smoked more quickly or it degenerates.

Everyone who I know who stores weed prepares and stores it this way. If they're serious about keeping longer term that is and retaining very high quality.

And it's stronger than anything I've ever smoked in Amsterdam when it's prepared, dried and stored that way.
