Albert Cuypmarkt area crawl 17th April
Re: Albert Cuypmarkt area crawl 17th April
OK, so there's six of us at the moment: Hestia, Hank, BlueBerry, Nimrod, Kokopelli and me.
There's loads of coffeeshops in that Albert Cuyp, Pijp, Old South area. We have to go to Katsu, of course, but where else should we try to fit in?
There's Club Media, Roxy, Les Amis, Atlantis, De Graal, Kabouter, Pacific, Today, Space Mountain, Ocean, Papillon, Nice Place, Greenhouse Tolstraat, Blue Sea, Carmona, Yo-Yo, Ibiza and D & L. See this Google map.
We'll never get round all of them (although it would be fun to try!) so which should we go for? Come on people, we need some decisions.

Re: Albert Cuypmarkt area crawl 17th April
Have been to only Katsu and de Graal. I have some sort of dreamy memory of Club Media, but that is not to be trusted.
So, I'm up for any of the remaining, many of which I've never heard of. However, Media, Yo-Yo, and Papillon are my preferred destinations, based only on what I've read about them. GH Tolstraat is the exception, gear-wise. Same as what's in the Centrum. Heard it's nice inside there, but not all that compelled to visit.
Thought about visiting Pacific or Kabouter for a post-Loetje smoke someday because of their proximity.

It's hard to choose just from the name and a few review in my opinion ... i'm more like, meet in one place and move on to the next one (if all are ok, if not move on) ..
Otherwise, the ones with the best stuff obviously, not too expensive and good atmosphere
Might need to fit some munchies places in between too

So you've been visiting Amsterdam for over twenty years, and have never been to the Albert Cuyp markt?kokopelli wrote:...i love Sharpati park too but never been to Albert's market yet ...
Do I understand this correctly?
Re: Albert Cuypmarkt area crawl 17th April
Yes i know .... the reason of that is that i usually stay in the center, east and west.
i rarely go in the "new south' but i love Sharpati park.
I never take the tram but just walk for the 2/3 days i spend there (and this all depends on the weather, november is really chilly)
I guess this time is the correct one to sort this out and pay my visit, plus i get to meet some fellow tokers (usually i'm by myself)
Re: Albert Cuypmarkt area crawl 17th April
Stuart's circuit looks good to me. Shame you won't be there Stuart.
I suggest we do it like this:
Meet at Club Media at 14:00 (2pm).
Around 14:30 (2.30pm) set off through the market to D & L, Yo-Yo and Carmona.
Stroll through Sarphatipark and on to Papillon, Ocean, Kabouter, De Graal finishing up in Katsu maybe around 19:00 (7pm).
That should leave us plenty of time to get back into the centre for Nimrod's nightcap at the Nes.
Whadayathink?

looks like i know what i will be doing my first day in town...last time in Amsterdam, which was my first, i stayed around the bulldog cafe and that area, so this time I'm all about venturing out and seeing more of this beautiful city. Glad i found this forum. Being a solo traveller, this is the perfect place to find ideas and meet new people..
