Of course it is more trouble for them. Or rather, it costs them money, and probably a lot of it. In the end it's their decision how they want to do business, but I wanted to post this in here to help others make an informed decision. Everyone is free to leave that advice rather than take it.
That is why they let you look at it and smell it and ask recommendations. YOU be the judge and decide if YOU want to pay for it. They are just bringing it to the front of the (extremely unregulated) market. It is up to you to chose if you like the batch.
I fully agree about the "unregulated" part. However, this does not mean that I'll give people a pass who have as much experience and knowledge of cannabis as the Barney's guys, and nonetheless sell bad stuff. At the very least they should have priced the weed down.

Are you sure the image you posted was of Dr. Grinspoon? I don't want to be a smartass here, but I'd bet some money that this is not Dr. Grinspoon. As other posters have described, Grinspoon doesn't really look like "regular" weed. Basically, it doesn't consist of real buds, but of lots of tiny weed flowers connected with very thin stems. Your pic looks nice, but I think it's a different strain.
Yes it is 110% positive.. It is my wifes fav smoke, i buy 5g at a time, and have grew it out. That is a very fresh batch thats all stuck together. You can even check my trip report from the cup..

I have tried Grinspoon back in 09 (from Bluebird, I think they were calling it Quaze, but it was unmistakably Grinspoon) and I also think it's worth the money. Super "up" high, and energetic too. Someone may have already posted that they consider it the sativa to compare all others to, and I'm tempted to agree.
I have no experience with the one at Barneys, but I am a bit curious now about growing it myself...

The pic that slo posted looks like it's not as dried as what you're used to seeing, so it's all clumped together...I'll bet that pic was taken when the buds weren't fully cured yet. I also think there's more sugar leaf on it than you see when buying it at coffeeshops...I don't see one big bud there, but lots of little pieces stuck together.

Depends which pheno it is, I've heard that from seed there is s slightly shorter flowering pheno that grows more formed buds.
When I first got it, it was labelled quasar haze, the tub was full and looked like buds but as it was so stuck together with resin, you separate it down into thin stems and calyxes.

Interesting thread.
Im off to Amsterdam next week and this strain is very high up on my 'To Try' list.
I was looking at Kadinsky or Anyday's Quaze
Anyone had a recent expereicnes of either of these?
Oh and before anyone says 'they all change, look and smell yourself' - I know, i know! I will do this and i appreciate the feedback but I'm not a total noob!

I've had both the Quasar and Grinspoon from Amnesia and Barneys, respectively, in the last 2-3 years. It's a stringy, scant looking-bud, but gives a super good high. Very strong and what I bought much of from Barneys my last visit.
I loved waking and baking up to to a spliff each morning, sitting on a bench by the side of a canal. How pleasant a time that was!

Yeah happened to me before with Mexican Haze from Rokerij (bad karma

). Grinspoon from Barneys was killer in August and September. Thanks for the warning! Next time I gonna ask for a 6 € bag to test it.

If you're a fan of the clear up pleasant (not racy) high that Dr. Grinspoon gives also try the Laughing Buddha, and maybe even some of the inexpensive Thai found at a lot of shops. Grinspoon (or Buddha) goes nicely with Dutch koffie.

Ah ok, I see. But since you've grown it yourself, I'm sure you know what I meant by it not growing into buds the way "regular" weed, and even indica-sativa hybrids, do. Your pic looks as if it were one bud, and I thought you might have mixed it up with a different strain. So, yeah, point taken. And thanks for not going all Sergeant Hartman on me for questioning what you said.

You're welcome

. Thanks for making me feel like it was a good idea to open this thread.
I see that there is some interest in discussing quality and availability of Grinspoon and Grinspoonoids from other coffeeshops. Maybe we could open a separate thread for that? I'm still a newbie and I don't want to open dozens of threads that will eventually end up useless. If we have a "critical mass" of members, i.e. enough members who are both interested in those 100% sativa strains and who are at least occasionally in Amsterdam to contribute with reports and especially with photos, that could actually become an interesting thread. Let me know if you think that would be a good idea, I'll then volunteer to open it.

I think you will find that many peeps are interested, including me.
You've got a good idea about starting a 100% Pure Sativa thread in the bud review section.
In the mean time, there are various trip reports, comments in the coffee shop review section, and in the bud review and variety of marijuana section as well.
I for one would like to contribute to such a thread, unfortunately the price for pure sativas is a bit much for this poor humble dirt farmer.
I do have a solution - whenever I'm in town, maybe someone will go "Dutch" with me?
Happy trails...

A lot of Aussie weed is actually bred with sativa as it seems to love the hot conditions and gets taller.

Thanks for the heads up, not had Laughing Buddha before, will check it out. London is flush with Thai atm so looking for something different really.
